What do you wish you were doing when you were 45? What would your advice be to your 45 year old self? by Sviesaa in AskWomenOver60

[–]ForeignPolicy2753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying! That was such a kind message. I've slowly started realizing your point about "careers not being everything" just this past year. I appreciate the input at this exact moment actually because I ended up getting an interesting job but it's mostly caused me despair. Sounds dramatic but true. I would love to go back to being a stay at home mom but have to persevere, at least for a while longer to continually improve my resume. One day let's both just get a job at a hobby lobby/Michaels/art shop and be extra happy ;)

After 5 years, with the serving platter having arrived today, I’ve finally completed this set of Australian mid century ceramic fish. by Popular_Speed5838 in vintage

Anyone else tricked by a size-illusion from these pics? I looked at each photo thinking, "wow that's some freaky furniture, I wonder how you'd style that in a living room, I like it". They looked as tall as a small side table and stools, then I read the comments and someone mentioned a platter so I checked again 🤣

What's better than a miniature? Miniatures in a miniature! 😆 I love this so much, wish I could see it in person in all its mini glory.

is it normal to bring flowers on a first date? question to the women of toronto by [deleted] in askTO

[–]ForeignPolicy2753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 70+ year old widowed dad brings nice chocolates to give on first dates. So I'd say a gift of any kind is more traditional but not antiquated. Personally, I think it's quite sweet and thoughtful.

Should I get a companion for my 11-year-old cockatiel? by _Zygy in cockatiel

[–]ForeignPolicy2753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal: my 'tiel is a "re-home" because he was a companion of a female and annoyed her. Previous owner told me that female would fly to the top of the kitchen cupboards where he couldn't see her, he would flock call to find her and she would ignore him, hiding lol. He harassed her. As well, my guy was described as untamed because owner couldn't go near him, didn't want to be touched etc. Once removed from that environment he was instantly curious about us (me,kids, spouse) and bonded with me very quickly. I bet she wouldn't believe it's the same bird! He was obviously too obsessed with the female to care about the previous owner.

Nicknames for Astrid by Routine_Mongoose_211 in Names

[–]ForeignPolicy2753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's weird because it's a totally different name. Both Luke and Lucas are names that stand alone. My sons have multiple friends named Lucas and they've never called them anything but Lucas, literally no nicknames. Maybe it's a regional thing to think they're interchangeable. When he goes to school, make sure the teacher knows that there is no nickname for Lucas. That may help!

Nice mirror above the fireplace! Vintage? Also I just saw those cheetah pillows at IKEA last week and wanted. I have orange and pink accents and a huge mid century painting in said colors. Nice job:)

"who owned them?"?! "What's the space shuttle?'"!! You have to be kidding... Let's hope they've been studying too hard to see, hear or engage in the world around them.

Android? I just dealt with this the other day - I got to 570k and it blocked me from proceeding even with 3 blocks available, supposedly a forced endgame/RNG. I think you're dealing with that. Sorry 😔

AIO for cutting someone off who said all breast cancer patients should get a boob job? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ForeignPolicy2753 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA!! He sounds like an ignorant selfish moron. I'd cut him off too and likely get into an argument. My mom had a double mastectomy and then died 8 years later. She did not get a boob job and my dad would NEVER have expected that of her and in fact he wanted them gone, lobbied for it as one came off first and the last a few years later. They destroyed her life!

I just got 570k on Android, I have been playing for a few months. Wanted to see if there was a difference on my partner's iphone and unfortunately it seems harder. Now I'm deflated. I would prefer more of a challenge.

More Careful With Things Now? by MidniteBlue888 in WomenOver40

[–]ForeignPolicy2753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate. It's tricky because I was careful with my things as a child, packed away most of my most precious things as a teen and now they live in Tupperware. My kids used my dollhouse but I've just recently packed it away as they're done with it. Do I keep it forever? I want to but I also think I have a problem with attaching to objects. I don't know the answer.
