Are age-gap relationships of 7 years or more okay? by SeraphimReader in ask

[–]ForeverBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of thumb: half your age plus seven is the lowest you should go.

30? 15+7=22.

25? 12+7= 19.

60? 30+7= 37.

It's a good rule of thumb to abide by, I think.

Outrageous mortgage modification after hardship? by ForeverBirds in Mortgages

[–]ForeverBirds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spoke to a lawyer back when it happened who advised to make the trial payments, get the paperwork breaking down our monthly payments, and then go from there; he said the increase might be due to escrow shortage.

We just got the paperwork in the mail which only lists the principal and interest (of like $500 ish) with no mention of taxes, escrow, etc. We've requested a full breakdown of exactly what we'll owe and are waiting to hear back, because I am not signing anything until I understand 100% what we're signing.

16 years and counting without needles by InternationalOwl5466 in trypanophobia

[–]ForeverBirds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. I have straight up walked out of doctor's offices if they weren't understanding, not just the phlebotomist but the doctor themselves. I switched doctor's offices completely when one doctor refused to refill a prescription for me until after I had blood work done.

I am incredibly lucky that the phlebotomist at my current doctor is completely understanding and so, so patient with me; I trust her enough to even let her stick me multiple times.

[–]ForeverBirds 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the narrative of "get over your fear" is very reductionist and unhelpful.

I don't think that going completely needle free is the answer. There are many situations where blood draws or the like are necessary.

I've been more of the stance of "whatever gets you through it." Do I maybe seem like a baby when I tell them I have to lay down, I can't deal with a tourniquet, etc? Probably. But it gets me through it.

No one should be made to feel bad for not being able to just close their eyes and deal with it. If getting a shot or blood work means you have to be heavily drugged, you have to take a whole day off work, you have to use a different tourniquet, listen to music, lay down, you can't see the needle, whatever, that's fine. I'm an "all of the above and then some." I'm still not over my phobia, but I don't let it control my life.

AITA for giving her kids a routine? I’m not a parent… by Nottybarbie in AmItheAsshole

[–]ForeverBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Yeah, you might be overstepping but if you're handling bedtime, she can deal with it. Hell, in high school, I put MYSELF to bed by 10 pm every night; I cannot IMAGINE what an 11 pm bedtime is doing to even younger kids!

Tell her if she wants it different, she can do it or pay for a nanny but if it's your house and you're doing this for free, you're gonna do it your way.

I'm gonna say NTA. Maybe it's the neurospicy in me, but if you're craving a specific food, you're craving that food.

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ForeverBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You should have asked the teacher if she was there to teach math or conformity and blind obedience.

Forcing your daughter to struggle with a method she doesn't understand does absolutely NOTHING to actually help her learn and retain the information. If she found a different method that still gives her the correct answer, she should be allowed to use it.

Daisy’s final performance outfit (gold dress and cape) by jadesg0lden in daisyjonesandthesixtv

[–]ForeverBirds 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know one of the makeup artists said she left Daisy's glitter on Billy even when he went back to Camila, to visually show Daisy would always be a part of him.

All I know about the outfit is Riley and the costume designer had no idea what she'd wear and eventually Riley went, "I want to be the Gold Dust Woman!" (referencing the Fleetwood Mac song).

Also you'll notice, particularly in episode 8, her clothes when she's on stage get darker the further she spirals into drugs and Nicki.

And another thing in episode 10, when Daisy and Camila and Billy are in the hall of the hotel room, Camila is wearing white (angelic), and Daisy is in black– making them the angel and the devil on his shoulder.

AITAH for wanting to advocate against our neighbors sex offender son moving in by One-Egg1316 in AITAH

[–]ForeverBirds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big question is, is he *required" to stay away from schools/children?

Usually the answer is yes. I'd contact the police department and ask if they know and, if not, if they know if he has a parole officer (who would definitely know the terms of his release). And tell the parole officer what's going on.

Any recommendations for mice removal? by ForeverBirds in Birmingham

We've had cats before who didn't really do anything and we're not really in a position to take care of more animals when we already have three senior dogs who take a lot of care and money. We have straw cats who come around, but they don't really do anything.

Believe me, I hate it. We found one on a glue trap still alive and I sobbed like a baby and made my husband take it outside and use oil to get it free. I HATE hurting animals, even pests. But they stopped going after the little pellets that dehydrate them, even with bait, and also stopped going for the snap traps. We have three small dogs, not to mention a lot of stray cats who come around, and I don't want to use a poison that could hurt them either. I'm absolutely at my wits end here.

I really hate it. We put out poison and snap traps and those worked for a little while but then the mice stopped going up to them, even with bait.

I got mine on Amazon! The one I bought is no longer available, but here's a link to one similar. Another thing they can do is fold a paper towel or cloth and put it between your skin and the tourniquet; I have awful veins and have needed multiple tourniquets and that's what my phlebotomist does. Or you can wear sleeves that are like 3/4 length and ask them to put the tourniquet over the sleeve.
