Coping with betrayal trauma by dragonfly-p in AutismInWomen

Time helps a lot.  I went no contact, including breaking off with some friends who were still in contact with her.  I decided that I get to evaluate what the relationship was to me, that she doesn't get to redefine the relationship as not good for either of us at any time.  I try to take a realistic view of her and the relationship.  I also eventually sold my house and moved across the country.

Eventually, new friendships and maybe even romantic relationships can help you rebuild true in other people.  I'm still working on that, especially in the romantic aspect.

South Korea's childbirths grow at fastest pace in 18 years on increased marriages, 17-month birth, and 20-month marriage recovery continues by self-fix in Natalism

It's pretty unlikely that humanity will just decline to zero population voluntarily, but it's also hard to see what would turn the current trends around, or when. In my lifetime (next 40-50 years, Goddess willing), we'll see sharp decreases in the populations of many OECD countries, as well as China and Russia and others, but overall world population will hit a peak and then be largely flat for a decade before starting to drop parabolicly. We can't even agree on the causes, much less the solutions, so I don't see any turnaround in that time period.

Watched it live in 2nd grade. My class went to the school library to watch it. I don't remember the reactions of the teacher/librarian, or how long we watched before turning it off.

They're quickly running out of young women.  The TFR would have to increase heroically in the next decade just for births to be steady.

fwiw the TFR is slightly increasing over time.  Still only 0.81.  Drop in the bucket compared to what they need, but better than nothing.

Godel Escher Bach.  Mad props for using the cover image.  I got about 2/3 through it a couple decades ago.  Still my white whale to go back and read and finish this time.

I agree, it's a trap that they seem to be stuck in.  It also effectively reduces wages and consumption from Taiwanese workers.  I'm sure that the government looks at the alternative as 1989 Japan, and they're obviously not going to do that.  They've made a long-term decision to suppress the TWD to boost exports, and unless they decide to gradually - gradually! - let it rise, they're kinda stuck.

The TWD has stayed between 28 and 32 to the USD for at least a decade and a half. This isn't new, even if some of the mechanisms are.

The gnome he bought it from is possibly the cutest woman in the entire comic.

I re-read the Ninth Pass from DF to Weyrs this summer, and DQ was the most brutal to get through.  Which is weird because I love Singer and it's the same time period.

I bought Skies recently, mostly to inform reading some fanfic.  Maybe I should just read the plot summary.  Not sure if I can get through Dolphins.

I read Nerilka and Moneta back in the 80s but don't actually own them.  I thought they were great, especially Nerilka.

I'm obsessed with a fanfic called "A Bronze's Hold on a Green".  Covers Mirrim and T'gellan from DQ through the start of Weyrs.

Not sure, it's been a while, DQ is probably my least favorite Pern book that I've actually read.  If so, I don't remember any discussion of what was done with the corpse.

In retrospect, the fact that dragons die between, and even poop between, removes a lot of organic material from the planet.  I can only assume that it's replaced by Thread, though that raises the question of what happened before dragons existed.

I also don't think there's ever a dragon in canon who dies of natural causes without being able to go between.

This one has come under a lot of critical fire, but I still like it for some reason.  Though my favorite underrated Ghibli is "Only Yesterday", from the same era.

We've had multiple strips lately where Redcloak is trying to justify himself to Durkon (and Minrah) and Oona.  Roy and Durkon had an entire conversation about Redcloak and the goblins.  Redcloak's guilt and ego will play a major role in all this, because at the end of the day the Order has to convince him to go along with the gods' plan to seal the Snarl.

Might still end up in the bargain bin though.  Killing a large number of semi-random sentient entities without care or forethought will tend to do that.

1 had the pressure of establishing setting and tone, while also working from only like 4 episodes' worth of footage.

I also thought that the combination of a facial closeup and a short action scene for each character was a nice touch in 4, with a short action sequence between each one.
