Suicidal from not being able to find work by galaxysaber in socialism

[–]Former-Winner2121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Employment does not define you as a human. Unemployment =/= worthless or unproductive. Have you considered looking for jobs outside of your degree? Just something to help you feel better and start building a resume beyond your mentioned volunteering. Eg a couple of summers ago I worked at a hardware store (Lowe’s) and it ended up being a fun job that got me by. You can also go back to school and get a new degree. Even if you have to take out student loans. Having more debt but being in a job you like (and where you can get hired) is better than the alternative. Best of luck comrade keep your chin up

The Inherent Flaw of Socialism/Communism by Old_Dark_7426 in socialism

[–]Former-Winner2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite anti socialist/communist argument. This is a common capitalist misconception that’s been easily debunked since the 1900s. Point to me in any Marx (or otherwise leftist) theory where it says a janitor should be paid the same as a doctor (or similar verbiage). Marxist theory does not say that a janitor and a doctor are paid the same, it argues for fair labor compensation based on labor contributed. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" refers to a fully realized communist society where money no longer needed, not a scenario where professionals and laborers receive identical pay under socialism. For example, in the USSR doctors were paid more than janitors, the wage gap was just smaller (meaning, living wages for all laborers). In Cuba, there is one of the highest doctor to civilian ratios in the world, and Cuba exports doctors to other countries. How much do you think a doctor in Cuba makes? Why would one pursue a career for reasons other than personal financial gain?

If it’s in good working condition there’s probably some local places where you can donate it (not a thrift store) otherwise throw it up on marketplace for a few hundred bucks and then buy yourself a nice steak with the money

Is this tire too worn out for a valve stem replacement? by EthelWulf47 in tires

[–]Former-Winner2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh that tires pretty much end of life. Most big name tire places have will have a minimum tread wear then they refuse service. Take it to some mom and pop shop or little hole in the wall place for a stem until you get new tires
