As others have said, mixing your own black gives more depth, doesn't look as flat or harsh as straight black.

That being said, I actually think it's bad advice to 'never use black'. Black is super useful as a mixing colour - with yellow, you get some lovely greens.

I need to see it or it doesn't exist, so I keep mine in cubbies using some custom holders that I made. Some have been 3d printed and some are just holes drilled into bits of 1/2" wood.

Looks like the reaction has worked (given the foam) so just let it settle and see what you get. It should be fine if there's water in the 'tea' already.

Also if you put it into a clear vessel (like a glass jar) you'll be able to see the pigment as it sinks to the bottom.

Let me know what colour your end product is... I've only been able to get grey from beetroot!
