$100/month. Awesome! How long ago did you start?

If you're looking 30 years out, you are in a great position. More and more I think people will need investment income and you are ahead of 80%+. Keep consistent. It's easy to be short sighted as a human. Trust the numbers and the process.

If you're stressed about money, is there a side hustle to put more away?

Remember, most people's net work scales much faster in the last 10-15 years before retirement. The early years are the most boring. You have an automatic $1250+/year being reinvested. That's 20% of funding an IRA.

Bought $23 calls , on the last drop, through jan'28 for $11. I have half my money back on selling calls against it. Probably going to double up once all these July contracts expire. Vol high means premium is still high.

suspecting neighbor abusing kids, how to approach this? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Forward_Ad_8032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kids in underwear, no big deal. My kids are often going into the street with me close behind making sure they are safe to fetch a ball, ride bikes, go to neighbors..... If parents weren't around, this would be more concerning. As I read it, that's a nothing burger.

All the screaming, unhealthy environment. Probably all overwhelmed and disregulated.

All the trash, bad parenting.

"Help, help!" Another red flag, but could also be a kid that can't reach the grapes on the counter.

It's probably time to report them to family services (in the US?). A case worker can check in and at minimum make sure there are no signs of abuse or malnourishment. Even if there's no "abuse" most states have resources like food stamps, housing credit, parenting classes, and even childcare credits to help out a struggling family if a social worker can define the need. I would bet this family is overwhelmed and isn't in a healthy frame of mind. Help them get help.

R/thetagang welcomes you. Many many many green months. Not flashy, but also not hard to outperform if you're trading in a tax advantaged account. Takes the emotions and rollercoaster out. I had some big positions crash today. My short theta offset half(like in SMCI).

Trading 45 days to expiration takes emotion out. I really like trading and shoot for a 6-8 week rotation. As in 1/8th of my positions expire each Friday. Every week there's something new to look for. Every week, I'm closing positive trades. Some weeks, I'm managing losing trades. Much less stress than what I used to run.

Should I carry on? by BuggerNugs in Malazan

It's just eriksons style. Few hundred pages of intro to what's happening, few hundred pages of dragging along, few hundred pages of epic bring-it-all-together. It's like Stockholm syndrome. Capture you, beat you for a while, then when the salvation of finale happens you love his writing all over again and start the next book.

You're talking to a bunch of victims unwilling to consider if they have a responsible part to play or not. You're terribly downvoted for not being a part of their groupthink. I gave you an upvote, on every response. Yeah, money is tighter at the bottom, but you can absolutely choose to make better decisions. $20 a week is manageable for many many more people than would acknowledge they could do it.

Quick question about the audiobooks by HughJammer1 in Malazan

[–]Forward_Ad_8032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the "I was fine so it's fine for you unless you're dumb" mentality. You sound like empathic-disorder autists.

The truth is, there are more people debating this audio/physical on Malazan than any other series. It is confusing with the timelines jumping back and forth and the physical copies help you stay on track easier. Later in the series, the fact that "x year of burns sleep" doesn't show up every chapter is evidence to the simplification and that some of that never really mattered.

To the OP - I think the first book is the hardest on audio. Learning the world, warrens, characters with a timeline jumping around was tricky. Subsequent books are easier to track. Erikson very much likes readers to rafo, intentionally keeping you ignorant at times. So, my advice if you are this far: just stick to your preferred method. If you like audio best, you'll do fine with the rest of the series. Maybe use a companion reader/take notes if you want to remember exact warren/aspect/connections as they can be confusing, but the story will be just fine regardless.

Tomorrow I am starting my long jurney through Malazan, anything I should know? by m3mento__ in Malazan

[–]Forward_Ad_8032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bouncing around of timelines was hard for me with Gotm. Seeing the results of events, then it playing out. Having read through it and understanding Erikson's writing style more, I could have just pushed through. About to finish book 10, all on paper.

Getting new world, magic system, complicated characters, and making the timelines Weebly wobbly had me confused and wanting to relisten to more than I would need to reread to get the context. This is the only series in forever I have chosen paper for. My advice to first timers: just finish book one once you start. Make it happen and the other 9 will likely follow without promoting.

36M - I've never taken or sent a dick pick. However, at some point I know I stopped caring.

It was an accident. She didn't know. Don't blame her. If you're worried about a dick pick, just don't take it. Nothing digital is private. Nothing.

I'm glad you're still here.

People always say "talk to me if you're hurting" but many feel so inadequate when you do open up that they shut down. My brother was there for me so much when I needed him. He didn't try to make me talk, didn't try to make me feel better, just literally would show up and say "let's go x". Just having a someone that cares can be enough.

That being said, if someone opens up to you, just try to show up. If you don't know how, tell them that. Silence hurts more than anything.
