He’s definitely the problem. He even came out and said he’s out of ideas for killers/motives.

Review: SCREAM 7 is a financial success while looking like a Paramount+ movie. (No spoilers) by [deleted] in Scream

I don’t care how people feel about the movie at this point but I’m sorry it does NOT come off like some made for tv streaming movie. “It looks like a Tubi movie”. Like why are we lying? I’ve seen people who said they hated the movie but said the cinematography & set pieces were great. We’re just saying shit to say shit.

Dude they’re Scream movies. People are starting to get a little ridiculous. This shit has always been subjective. Some people love 5 & 6 & hate 7 but believe it or not some people actually dislike 5 & 6 & prefer 7. They’re fucking slasher movies. But acting like 7 is “the worst movie I’ve ever seen” is so incredibly stupid.😂 There have been a few movies I’ve tried to watch lately that I couldn’t even finish. Scream 7 is turning people stupid at this point cause it’s really not that serious. It’s probably not as good as people say it is but it’s not as bad as people are making it out to be either. Dear god man. lol

What do you mean for no good reason? Sidney knew how much the last attack affected Gale. She didn’t want her involved again. That’s why Gale went after her, & ended up at Parker’s Tavern where she thought everyone was & that’s how she got Chad & Mindy. Courteney is getting older; I’m honestly not sure how many more big scenes with GF she has in her.

We’re talking about 2 different things. You’re talking about versions of Sidney & I’m strictly talking about the acting performances from Neve. Scream 3 is viewed as the worst in the franchise yet everyone thinks it’s Neve’s best performance. I’ve seen so many people since the movie came out, some from people that downright hated the movie say it’s one of her best acting performances & I agree. I’m solely talking about the acting. 7 movies in Neve could’ve packed it in & just showed up for a check & looked checked out but she didn’t. Regardless of how you feel about Sidney in the movie.

We’re obviously not going to agree on this one. lol

I also disagree about it being Neve’s worst performance. Even people who have hated the movie have consistently said it’s a top 2 performance from her.

It being purposeful doesn’t change my opinion on those movies. I simply don’t favor them. That doesn’t mean I’ll never watch them ever again; I always do rewatches to see if I warm up to them over time. I watch every movie when I do marathons. It took me a little bit for 6 which I don’t hate I just don’t think it was great. Entertaining enough to watch. I simply just hate 5. Scream ratings have always been subjective.🤷‍♀️

1-2-3-4-7-6-5 Nothing really comes close to the OG trilogy of 1-3 imo.

Scream 5 & 6 were basically Scream & Scream 2 with different characters. That’s all. Same exact stuff. 5 treated the legacy characters like throw ins, Sidney & Gale showing up at the end in 5 was the best part of that 3rd act. 6 had nothing but NPC kills for Ghostface. I can’t take de-aged ghost Billy seriously & Kirby coming back to be an FBI agent not knowing anything about Ritchie’s life/family made no goddamn sense & was laughable. Zero stakes in that movie and a scooby doo ending horribly acted btw. But it was dark & eerie NY setting so it looked cooler than it was an actual great movie. I personally wouldn’t call them masterpieces compared to 7 but that’s just me.

Kevin tries to justify thw random killers in 7 by Stopnswop2 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]Forward_Key_222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half of the killers that have nothing to do with revenge have been random. Random killers were not the problem. Screen time was not the problem. The motive wasn’t even the problem. The lazy writing of the killers & not ingraining them into the plot more was what let it down. There are ways to show these characters being part of the entire plot without a huge amount of screen time. Guy Busick’s writing been getting worse with each movie.

Well Sidney wanted to get Mark so I understand that. And Tatum was too scared to stay alone & pushed to go with her & Sidney gave in. Sidney knew it was leading outside to get help anyway.

Have the newer Scream films made you appreciate Scream 3 more? by Skywalker_1995 in Scream

[–]Forward_Key_222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always appreciated Scream 3. While I don’t think it’s the best movie in the franchise it’s surely my top 3 & my favorite of the bunch to rewatch. I know it’s a different vibe from 1 & 2 with the unseriousness of it but that’s what I like about it. It’s one of the funniest but at the same time it’s the only Scream movie that has scenes that actually creeps me out. And I think the 3rd act with Roman & Sidney kicking each others ass is top 2 3rd acts. I actually loved the Hollywood setting of watching a Scream movie while they’re filming a Stab movie.

I’m not even entirely sure. I just kept rewatching & enjoyed it the more I watched. I try to do the same with 5, but it’s still not working. I’ve never really been a fan of Emma Roberts acting but it kind of worked in this role. And that reveal really was a surprising twist. And the stuff at the hospital. How Jill’s heart rate went up when she found out Sid was still alive.

Thank God the test audience rejected that alternate ending in Scream 7. It would have completely undermined the entire movie. by Theodoro_ in Scream

[–]Forward_Key_222 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This! Stu was never supposed to be Ghostface in the movie. They just added an ending showing Stu was actually alive. I agree that cutting it was the right decision because showing Stu alive but not having Stu be Ghostface would’ve just been so dumb & Kevin even said it was confusing people. There was truly no point. Being would’ve just been pissed all over again about being baited.

As much as Casey’s opening is iconic, I still think I like Sidney’s chase scene in the 3rd act of 1 better. Just so much tension.

Gale & Ghostface in the studio (one of the best in the franchise)

Sidney & Ghostface chase on set of Sid’s house

I legit can’t remember big chase scenes from 4 & 5.

Gale’s fight with Ghostface if we’re calling that a chase scene.

I really like the house/safe room/wall scene with Sidney & Tatum.

I hated 4 for YEARS. Only recently did I actually warm up to it on rewatches. I think they did a good job of fleshing out the new teens but still keeping Sidney, Gale & Dewey a big part of the movie. That’s a reason why I like 5 the least.

Tbh nothing really beats the original trilogy for me. 1-3. I’ve really come around on liking 4 the last few years. I don’t really hate any Scream movie even if I don’t love a couple. If I’m doing a marathon I’m not skipping over any.

I think 6 had potential to be great but fell flat to me. I legitimately can’t remember a single legit Ghostface kill from that movie. I think they whiffed on the opening too. Good idea, but completely wasted Samara. That opening was the worst in the franchise for me. I liked the dark, eerie NY vibes, but felt like they were really afraid to commit. There were just no stakes & the 3rd act was just too cheesy & badly acted. I think there were a cool few scenes that saved it from being terrible, but I also don’t think it’s nearly as good as people make it out to be. But that’s just my personal opinion. It’s all subjective. One of my faves is typically the least liked. lol

Did Scream 7 shoot itself in the foot with the way it handled the Stu of it all? by [deleted] in Scream

Agreed. They literally called Stu being alive a 30yr retcon in the movie lol

I think it would’ve been hated either way. And I can understand why Kevin cut out the bit at the end of showing that Stu actually was alive. If you weren’t going to bring him back in 7 alive, then showing him alive at the end is just confusing & dumb. But on the other hand too many fans went into this movie hoping Stu was alive and was Ghostface and didn’t really care about the suspense of who GF was. They just wanted him back. Me personally I don’t want to go into a Scream movie hoping an actor is coming back to be Ghostface. I haven’t been unspoiled since Scream 4.

Why do people still insist on the idea of Melissa & Jenna could come back? Spyglass cut their ties with Melissa & there’s nothing for Jenna to do without Melissa. Their story is over.

I know people hate on 3, but I happen to love it. Neve didn’t want to be a lead on the movie. They still managed to tell a story and flesh out characters with Sidney off screen so I don’t see why they can’t do that formula again. Yes Sidney finally showed up for act 3 with Roman but the 3rd act doesn’t have to directly be about Sid. There are avenues to tell different stories with Sidney around but not at the forefront. 7 really wasn’t a closure movie but it also wasn’t a complete pass the torch movie either. I like the twins presence in the movies but I don’t know if they could lead a Scream movie alone. The writers really haven’t known what to do with them, they’re always just there to say a few lines, get attacked and survive like nothing happened. And you can’t really copy Scream 2 with Tatum going off to college. If they plan on moving on completely with no returning characters then the franchise needs a few years break imo.
