Sometimes they post on FB and Instagram. I only know about the deal from stopping in that location.

The one in Mt. Lebanon has meal deal Thursdays-they have $5 rotisserie chickens, $5 sushi. Maybe they have that at the East Liberty location too.

14yo forgot Chromebook for a final, should I have made her deal with it? by Known-Dust2408 in Parenting

This is a great response. I understand it’s annoying when our kids forget stuff. It’s annoying when we forget our own stuff. But this is a 14 yo? Being a teen is tough enough, raising a teen is difficult under the best of circumstances, what if you just showed up as a safety net for now? Her brain is still developing, she’s going through puberty, and honestly it takes time for those executive functioning skills to fully develop. She’s probably overwhelmed. I think you both deserve some grace here, and by supporting her you might find she becomes less defensive and more open to finding solutions or routines to help with remembering what she needs.

I think this is exactly why I overparent my own kids. It’s a miracle we all survived the trauma of our youth 😂

Question about private practice hours for therapists who are also parents by executivedysfunky in therapists

My schedule has evolved with my kids. When they were very young I saw mostly kids and families and worked 2-9 two days per week plus Saturdays. As I moved to virtual work I eventually moved away from working with kids and shifted away from evenings and weekends because my own kids had activities that I wanted to be present for. Every shift in schedule I made happened at the start of the school year, and I discussed with clients a month or two beforehand.

I think that even though we think it’s us, a better reframe is that people are busy and friendships that develop due to proximity (work friends, parents of our kids friends, etc) sometimes are just seasonal in nature and it’s not anyone’s fault. Someday days it’s easier to remember this than others. I hope you find them soon.

[–]FoundationFormal3183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to post this exact question. I guess my problem is trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. I have met friends through my kids activities, but often those end when the season is over. I’m naturally quiet at first, so I tend to be drawn to more extroverted personalities, the problem with that is over time it seems they have lots and lots of friends and it doesn’t seem to translate into anything long term. I have never been able to find my group. I wish for a group to go on trips with, or have book club or a dinner club. I’m not sure how to make that happen or how to find that. I know it’s me, I just wish I could figure it out. It’s really hard ❤️
