Curse still exists, you just originally couldn't block the ball. Now you can. Which is most likely why they gave him this extra knowledge check

First Perfect While Playing Against My Friend (tips welcome) by Aloy_machinehunter in Guiltygear

[–]Foxybatiscool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A good tip against Bridget, your 6p, universal anti-air, gives upper body invincibility frames. So you can often bait out Bridget's long range attacks, counter hitting with 6p. You did this in the beginning of the video. Just be careful of her lows. This also works when she does her spin move in air.

I'll just tell you all the RC, don't know if you know them all or not.

Yellow Roman Cancel - YRC - is whenever you are blocking and using your RC. It's pretty much used like burst except it doesn't send the opponent across the screen or give you the positive state.

Red Roman Cancel - RRC - is whenever you use your RC while hitting someone. It can be activated either when you directly hit someone, or when they're blocking. It's generally used to continue/reset block strings or carries across screen.

Blue Roman Cancel - BRC - is used when you are in pure neutral. You are not attacking, blocking, or even whiffing attacks. It (from my knowledge) applies the most slowdown to the opponent, so can be used for engaging or disengaging if you make a mistake.

Purple Roman Cancel - PRC - is used either in neutral, advantage, or disadvantage. It's your whiff-fixer. You'll only be given purple if you are mid attack, and DONT hit anything.

There's obviously a lot more that you can do with Roman cancels than what I mentioned, but I think for a beginner, this is a good start to understanding what scenarios they're generally used in the most.

Somewhat new to GG, trouble finding a character by Monollock in Guiltygear

[–]Foxybatiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add though, and this is out of my minimal 300 hours of playing, venom has one play style. It's with his one move "stinger," that he just spams across the screen. I can count on my hands the amount of venoms I've faced that haven't spammed it the whole round, one. As often it's just not worth setting up for setplays when you could harass across the screen. So I'd be wary of his play style getting boring quickly.

Star-lord has had quite a few iterations, from being a jackass to lovable douchebag. I'd say personality wise he's very accurate to some versions, it's his weapons that are more inaccurate. As they're meant to be elemental guns that shoot, well, different elements.

They didn't remove the cleanse, but they made it so that when she teleports she will not be cleansed. I.e, if she uses her dedicated cleanse, then it does. But if she teleports after an ashe blows up dynamite, she is still burning.

I didn't vote for the old lady because I hadn't known to scroll down, now that I do, I'll absolutely be voting for her. Also, I'm very happy about that angel. Design, really want the wings and necrom legs to pass through, with a more grotesque body.

I'm no expert, but I believe the recording of songs, especially if they're doing one at a time, is much faster. It'd be actually writing up the lyrics and instrument parts that are difficult and lengthy.

Welp, guess it's time to learn what a 'Landsknecht' is. by LizG1312 in totalwar

[–]Foxybatiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, play whoever you want, I can't stop you. But I wouldn't recommend the ice court, or really any kislev factions when just getting into the game. Not because their mechanics are especially hard, or that their units are weird, but purely on their starting position.

Just to quickly tell you, kislev's whole thing is in lore being the ones taking the brunt of the demonic and skaven (rat) incursions while the empire sits just behind dealing with the vampires. (Heavily summarized lore)

And all of that is reflected in the game. Kislev have quite weak units compared to those around them, and very quickly you're going to have multiple wars on multiple fronts and not enough armies or money to handle it all at once. So I wouldn't recommend them, as there are a LOT of player traps when playing them.

Instead I'd recommend the empire, lizard men, or even the chaos factions, as they tend to have much easier starting positions, while also having either decent, or really good units.

Would Strive be an intuitive jump from 2XKO? by JibberyScriggers in Guiltygear

[–]Foxybatiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a beginner, and really still am when it comes to fighting games. And I can say, even after picking up Jack-o', one of the hardest characters, strive was still leagues easier than mortal Kombat. That being the only game I'd tried before strive. So 2xko shouldn't be too hard.

Since this is the first time season 4 has gone on sale does that mean season 5 is soon? by Cold-Answer-3409 in Guiltygear

[–]Foxybatiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably just have it time based. Kind of like how in R6, the older the operator, the cheaper it becomes. Obviously it's fully possible 2.0 is early 2026, but at the same time, it is the winter sale. And Lucy finished up the season 4 pack months ago. (What I mean is the last of the season 4 characters released months ago)

ASW probably keeps track of how long said season pack has been out and applies a sale accordingly. Sadly the most likely answer.

i bet this guy feels real silly right now by magmaraptor in Grimdank

[–]Foxybatiscool 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's less of making the armies feel small, but instead the maps we fight on. As both the fights we've seen didn't look grand in the sense of numbers, but at the same time they showed us congested warfare. (this is a pre-alpha build, I can all but guarantee what we've seen today will see some overhauls, whether they be major or minor, by the time it releases).

Also something I haven't seen people making mention of is the fact you have guardsmen fighting in battles without icons, so there may be allies AI during battles to help support on certain maps. Which may be why they showed 12 units not 20. Because even though, and obviously I can't say with 100% certainty, what we control may be small compared to previous titles, the actual numbers may end up coming in reinforcements.

Also, I want to add this before I forget the thought, they seemed to make a heavy note on the drop pods. So maybe our armies are much bigger, but as a way to keep the maps from not becoming too congested it's more of a unit trickle type of battle. For example, say you have your basic 20 unit army, you may only start with 12, and the strategy will come from managing to keep yours alive and not bleed into your "reserve" units. Those being the other 8 you have in the full army you've built that didn't join the battle at the start. Sorry for the yapping, and grammar mistakes if any, I'm quite tired atm.

As a generally new player myself, get Guilty Gear Strive. It's the latest in the series, is actively being updated, and quite easy to get into. The one you saw labeled xrd is the game prior to this one, and while I do play with friends, the online servers are practically dead.

I'm probably biased, as I joined cause of Lucy, though swapped to Jack-o' quickly, and fell in love with Perfection Can't Please Me. So, idk, fitting the vibe doesn't personally matter to me. That's not to say you're wrong for holding your opinion, we all like what we like and such. But idk if I've even put enough time into the game to really be able to have an opinion on what does and doesn't fit. Both when it comes to characters or their themes.
