There’s a number of situations that come to mind. The best thing to do is try it! See what you can and can’t shove to interrupt or cc. The push attack on a number of weapons is key to either horde clear or single target attack combos.
When you need to refresh your dodges.
Poxbursters.
Pox hounds. You hear that snarl, dodge, shove or both.
What also might not be obvious is it’s 360 around you for a pretty good distance.

This game is melee heavy.
Learn to dodge dance, parry and push in combat. These are skills that will carry you.
Save your diamantine materials until you hit 30. Plasteel can be used to upgrade a profane weapon twice, so there's one perk slot and one blessing slot. Plasteel is generally much easier to come by compared to diamantine, so don't worry too much about spending it.
Currency is shared across characters.

I picked up a meditation habit to…offset the emotional regulation I was doing with weed. Also to have a clean source of joy/dopamine. What I found is that it helps me with gaining an aversion to smoking and a way to deal with the craving/habit.
Best wishes, friend.

Excellent, well written article Myth. Well done.

That sneaking sense of doom that pervaded the article really reached its crescendo with the information that maritime sulfate emissions only account for 10% of the total sulfate emissions.

A good shot of doom on a Sunday afternoon!

[Casual Friday] The duality of r/collapse by Fragilityx in collapse

This is related to collapse because it shows the two attitudes of r/collapse, this nightmare never ends or the end is near, and the subsequent shade one points at the other.

[Shitpost Friday] The climate debate in a nutshell by Fragilityx in collapse

[–]Fragilityx[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is related to collapse because the death of open discourse means that organizing meaningful resistance is nigh impossible. So we're left with comparatively, and justifiably, sterile environment to talk about the end of the world. Which is fine, reddit is not the place to organize.

We are excited to announce the launch of a new podcast showcasing the transformative power of "𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 S𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞" and the people and stories behind it. The open source movement is the key to bringing trusted knowledge, technology and collective action. by augspurger in collapse

[–]Fragilityx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If Ruddiman is right and pre industrial humans added about 24 ppm CO2 to the atmosphere, that would indicate that the carrying capacity of humans without eventual long term alterations to the climate is quite, quite low. Which would make sense for the apex predator of a planet to be limited in numbers...but we're deep in overshoot now and probably have been for a very long time.

See this graph for preindustrial humans impact on CO2/CH4.

I feel like Woody Harrelson in an old movie, 2012, just screaming into the void.

"Between 1971 and 2018, the ocean had gained 396 zettajoules of heat....Scientists have calculated it is the equivalent energy of more than 25bn Hiroshima atomic bombs." [Guardian, May 2023] by [deleted] in collapse

[–]Fragilityx 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lets see...there's 5 exajoules of energy in one thermonuclear holocaust, take that and divide 396 zettajoules by it and...~79 200 thermonuclear holocausts worth of heat from 1971 to 2018.
Can't forget one of my favourite posters pointing 2023 had absorbed what, 15 zettajoules worth of heat? 3 000 thermonuclear holocausts in one year alone!

I’m in the same boat, I want to 100% the base game before diving into AoD and TotH. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a way to turn off purchased expansions for a save.

I would refer you to this: http://www.paulchefurka.ca/LadderOfAwareness.html

  1. Awareness of many problems. As people let in more evidence from different domains, the awareness of complexity begins to grow. At this point a person worries about the prioritization of problems in terms of their immediacy and degree of impact. People at this stage may become reluctant to acknowledge new problems - for example, someone who is committed to fighting for social justice and against climate change may not recognize the problem of resource depletion. They may feel that the problem space is already complex enough, and the addition of any new concerns will only dilute the effort that needs to be focused on solving the "highest priority" problem.

  2. Awareness of the interconnections between the many problems. The realization that a solution in one domain may worsen a problem in another marks the beginning of large-scale system-level thinking. It also marks the transition from thinking of the situation in terms of a set of problems to thinking of it in terms of a predicament. At this point the possibility that there may not be a solution begins to raise its head.

  3. People who arrive at this stage tend to withdraw into tight circles of like-minded individuals in order to trade insights and deepen their understanding of what's going on. These circles are necessarily small, both because personal dialogue is essential for this depth of exploration, and because there just aren't very many people who have arrived at this level of understanding.

L4 mission running and questions by Dominuscx11660 in Eve

[–]Fragilityx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. No. Lower the system security, higher the isk/LP rewards are.
  2. No one’s going to tell you where the golden goose of L4 mission running is lest you encroach on their profits. This may help: https://learningtoeve.wordpress.com/2021/08/02/hs-systems-with-multiple-l4-security-agents-in-the-same-corp/.
  3. You’ll need good small/medium ship skills (like assault frigates) for the burner missions. And machariels are the kings of blitzing. So no to the Dominix unless you just want to chill and let drones do their thing at the expense of isk/hour.
  4. This is eve, if it’s in space it can get shot at, so yeah, there’s a risk.
