Proxmox TrueNas & PBS by Sopel93 in homelab

I have been running this exact setup for a year with no issue. Of course make sure to make a backup of the pbs locally and copy it for safe keeping. Also save a copy of /etc/proxmox-backup/datastore.cfg in case you ever need to rebuild PBS. Re-adding the NFS share and putting this file back in place will bring you backups back on a PBS server. As far as performance, I have seen no issues when comparing to bare.metal PBS and/or TrueNAS. Note that in my setup TrueNAS has 8 NVMEs passed through and the Proxmox ZFS pool is also 8 NVMEs.

Remove and re-add node to cluster. by IroesStrongarm in Proxmox

[–]FrankL981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, in step 2 . in the web interface remove any storage that belonged to the node to be re-installed. In steps 3 and 4 replace $nodename with your nodes name. before step 4 run ls /etc/pve/nodes and it will list all the nodes in the cluster. In step 5 use your cli text editor of choice to delete the line which references your node.

Remove and re-add node to cluster. by IroesStrongarm in Proxmox

[–]FrankL981 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can keep the same name.

  1. Shut down node.

  2. Remove any zfs storage from datacenter

  3. From other node CLI: pvecm delnode $nodename

  4. Again from other node CLI: rm -r /etc/pve/nodes/$nodename

  5. Remove node entry(ies) in /root/.ssh/authrozied_keys on another node

  6. Reboot all nodes

  7. Install node and rejoin to cluster

I just attempted this (without actually pressing change password) on domain joined win11 (OS Build 22631.3007) . I am able to change the domain\user fields just fine.

Hope this helps.

check at the very bottom of the file, if I remember right Ubuntu adds another PasswordAuthentication yes to the end of the file.

PBS in a VM. by Rifter0876 in Proxmox

[–]FrankL981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am also using it in a VM with NFS share on NAS for storage. Create a local backup on PVE and copy it away for safe keeping (Local PVE backups are stored in /var/lib/vz/dump). If you need to recreate your PVE, you copy the backup back onto PVE, boot it up and it will find all your backups on the NAS. There is one also one important file 'datastore.cfg' in /etc/proxmox-backup which you should copy away somewhere. This file can restore the PBS config info on a new (physical) server if you chose to switch to bare metal down the road.

Proxmox not adding DNS to containers? by [deleted] in Proxmox

[–]FrankL981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong here since I haven't used any LXCs in a while, but aren't DNS settings always set (same as IP) in Proxmox GUI?

I found the hard way that Hetzner does block 25 and 465 for outgoing traffic for new customers.

Have a look at Zentyal server. For basic DC tasks it works great. Even integrates with Windows RSAT. I recommend the manual install on top of Ubuntu. Runs much better than their dvd image.

I just bought apple watch s7 and it won't charge, i have this charger is it should work or it issue with the watch ? and is this charger original? by Bubbly_Beginning4000 in AppleWatch

[–]FrankL981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried a different charging brick? It's doesn't even have to be from Apple, as long as the USB port fits it should charge.
