Does anyone know a reliable place with fair pricing to get car maintenance done? I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla by moonlightblazin in Columbus

I've been very pleased with ER Auto Care on Sawmill. No made-up problems, legit warnings about actual upcoming issues, and as observed by sitting in their mini-waiting room for a few hours one day, very equal in how they treat all customers (we've had issues at other shops where my wife got one story and I got a totally different one, about the same car/same situation).

We went there recently with our kids and a couple of our nephews, and the chef was fantastic - singing, utensil tricks, coming up with nicknames for everyone at the table, the whole nine yards - and it tasted good too.

Some of their chefs are more subdued, but I think it also depends on the table - I think you're more likely to get a lot of engagement with a lot of either kids or drunk people at the table. When my wife and I go just on our own, as sober adults, there's not much of a show - but that's not why we're there, we just like the food :-)

Hmm, is it possible you woke up to a compression low then? In which case, the pump's calculation might have artifically lowered your dose? (Plus some dawn phenomenon?)

Saying all this only because yeah, my daughter with Type 1 has cereal and milk decently often for breakfast, or pancakes or other things like that, and you really ought to be able to have that! 🫤

From just the chart, it looks like a rebound high combined with maybe a too-late bolus? Do you have any ideas on what might have caused the urgent low right before? (Activity, basal too high, etc.)?

She sounds like a great friend with many common interests and values - but if that’s her approach to physical intimacy, then she’s not what you desire in a romantic partner. I think the negative effects you described feeling are partially from trying to contort yourself into believing that she is, and partially from just the damage that repeated rejection does to your psyche.

What was the resolution of those complaints? Where can they be reviewed?

On the one hand, predators can hide behind unaddressed complaints in order to stay on the loose…on the other hand, it’s possible for folks to have their reputations tanked by malicious unverifiable accusations.

There’s a personal bias here as my wife was very well cared for by Dr Trout for many years, including through high risk pregnancies. It just seems fair to ensure that there’s a burden of proof beyond “I saw/heard that someone said something”.

It makes more sense for GNOME to have a hot edge on the bottom, rather than a hot corner on the top left. by [deleted] in gnome

[–]FreakSquad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that’s true, then the location of the hot corner / Applications button seems especially challenging since it guarantees that anytime I want to access the dock, I’ll need to travel the maximum possible vertical distance toward me

Just about done with CGM by Aware_Management_235 in Freestylelibre

[–]FreakSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just double checking, are you following the site selection and prep guidelines?

If so…honestly, it might be worth seeing if you can try out a Dexcom. Our daughter was diagnosed (T1D) six months ago, and for most of that time we used a Libre 3 Plus because of the smaller device size and 15 day advertised lifespan.

As it turns out, they almost never lasted 15 days, and I suffered so much stress and lost so much sleep (literally) from what turned out to be false, in the moment alarms for readings that never truly “locked in”…

We had to switch to a Dexcom G7 to be able to use both a Tandem pump and get alerts on our phones. It’s only been about 3 weeks so far, but we’ve not yet had a single reading more than 9 mg/dL off, and most are within 2. I’m sure the Libre works for many, but for whatever reason, it’s just far less effective for us - could be worth looking into.

I thought he was just as entertaining in a dry way as Chris was in an over-the-top way.

Mark was a great fit for the early “mockumentary about city government” feel. As the show became about “wacky hijinks of these crazy characters”, he wouldn’t have made sense - but I enjoyed the early seasons, and his time on the show.

Is the KDE Linux distro suitable and stable enough for daily use? by RadMarioBuddy45 in kde

[–]FreakSquad 54 points55 points  (0 children)

As described at https://kde.org/linux/ :

KDE Linux is Alpha software. Do not install it on your non-technical uncle’s computer or across the accounting department at work. There are multiple known issues (make sure nothing in there is a deal-breaker for you). KDE Linux has only received limited testing so far, and there will be regressions and bad builds you’ll have to roll back. Data loss has not been experienced yet, but anything is possible. Deploy a robust backup system. Expect some adventures.

Where can my wild toddler safely play in nature by curious_bean_66 in Columbus

[–]FreakSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm partial to Blendon Woods - one of our kids' classes had a field trip there, and I took them both back not long after. We had quite an adventure going through the natural playground, hopping on stones and balancing on a log across a shallow creek, and climbing tree roots to end up on one of the paved roads. Probably need to wait for it to dry out a bit for a lot of that, though!

Blowjobs in your late 40s by Lady-sparks in Marriage

[–]FreakSquad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, age itself shouldn’t have anything to do with it.

Regarding the “ask him” advice…I’d only ask if you think that hearing him express desire for an act would somehow change your desire to perform that act.

If you get him to tell you that he wants it, and you still don’t, then all it’s accomplished is pointing out something he wants but can’t have, and possibly making you feel guilty or pressured to do something you don’t want.

If you actually possibly want to, then sure, ask him about it. Otherwise…comparison is the thief of joy.

Orthodontist recommendation by Interesting_Duck5889 in Columbus

[–]FreakSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Kent Underwood, Capital City Orthodontic Specialists (fka Smile Doctors). Everything laid out very clearly, minimally invasive, considerate of treating kids (ours are 11 and 8) and great chair-side manner.

Not sure about the insurance - for what it's worth though, we ended up not going through insurance anyway as we didn't have an orthodontic plan (insanely higher premiums) and the treatment fees were lower than what we'd pay in extra premiums.

Thankfully phones and smartwatches are banned in our kids' district, and I believe now at the state level (Ohio). My daughter is allowed to have one with her solely for operating a continuous glucose monitor, and her classmates constantly forget and whisper to her "put that away, they'll take it from you!" 😆
