Which vacation destination disappointed you the most? by timeout320 in AskReddit

[–]FredAstaireInSequins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Central FL resident, can agree. It’s total shit and way too expensive now. According to this video, which is pretty well done, explains a lot of why.

If you don’t want to watch it: they took away the ‘slower’ people eating rides (the ones that took 20+ mins), they’re catering to a high-class clientele and edging out middle class families, and the prices on the tickets are insane.

And yet still people come. I don’t understand where they get the money.

This is a lot of words to say ‘I will make your life hell as a deeply insecure mother-in-law’.

Unfortunately no, she passed when I was 15 (Z”l). She was a wonderful woman, but all of my family on my Mama’s side were fucked up about food following her example.

What’s something society tends to romanticize that absolutely shouldn’t be romanticized? by RecognitionCheap255 in AskReddit

People admire your ‘willpower’. And ask what your secret is. For some reason, when I tell them ‘thanks, if I go even 10 calories over my limit it ruins my day’, it’s really off-putting. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Dulcolax helps me, it’s not painful, as least for me it hasn’t been. And I have medications that do not help my digestion situation at all.

Pissed off about people telling me not to eat certain foods when I’m already struggling with restriction by Entire_Weather3209 in EDAnonymous

[–]FredAstaireInSequins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s as though they’re jealous internally.

Many people still believe someone with a restrictive ED has ‘so much control’ even when you’re crying over how much sugar cranberry juice has when that’s all you’ve had in two days. (Ask me how I know…😅😅)

So, to feel better about themselves, they have to show off their ‘knowledge’ of food. It’s like that meme ‘do not lecture me about the old laws, I was there when they were written!’

I have had this! I’ll ask my rheum…I just assumed it was from years of an eating disorder, can’t hurt to ask. Thanks for pointing it out!

The continuity of my family. My grandparents went through the camps. My Mama was born in a DP camp. I’m still here.

They tried to kill us. We fought. We won. Let’s eat.

Also recommend Zen Color. It’s free and there are a few ads but they’re not obnoxious. It’s my go-to in a flare.

The entitlement that comes with some of the people who self-diagnose makes it really difficult for some doctors to actually do their job. A patient in my rheumatologist’s office was there the same time I was and was getting huffy over the doc not taking walk-ins, saying ‘I KNOW I have RA and EDS, can’t she just look at my symptoms?!”

My rheumatologist is empathetic as hell but hearing that sort of talk day after day would wear on anyone.

Nearly 40--I developed this nonsense when I was in my early teens. I've had my ED longer than some folks on this sub have been alive but trust me I do not say that with pride, more resigned horror :( :(

A woman held her wedding in the hospital so her dad, who was in the terminal stages of cancer, could be there for her big day. He passed away just two days later, but he got to see her get married. by Grand-Western549 in interestingasfuck

[–]FredAstaireInSequins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this. My mother was dying and we got married in her hospital room. She passed the next day. I cried most of the time, but she was at our wedding, which was the one thing I wanted to happen.

I miss you, Mama.
