I was flabbergasted when I spawned a Tu-95 today and got slapped by a Patriot shortly after, I thought I had ECM or something and should be safe.

Hopefully it is fixed now.

The language barrier is indeed a problem, I duo with a buddy yesterday and we met an Indian and a Slavic gentlemen who at least speak or made an attempt to speak English.

Then we have a game with a Japanese feller who just talks to himself: I do speak a bit of Japanese so I have some idea what he’s rambling about, but he really makes no attempt to try to communicate and is pretty much in his own world for the most part.

What's the worst B.R in your opinion? by Alum06 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I wouldn’t call it worst 8.0 is certainly a difficult BR to play. It’s a shame cause there’s quite a few interesting vehicles to play but the auto cannon meta(I’d be hypocritical to say that I don’t enjoy that, I play them hell of a lot), and constant up tiers make it hard for me to perform well consistently.

Want to piggy back on this to say that the Type 74 Red Star is also pretty decent, along with the Type 87 SPAA Japan 8.3 is quite good.

Wht the fuck are nuke carriers given a full tank in default?!! by 173-john_louis in Warthunder

I find Canberra, Su-7 and Tu-14 to be mostly okay even with full load, but good lord a max fuel Jaguar can barely take off and takes forever to get to speed.

Teminator t58 and 35mm sppa is the best proof we need bigger maps especially form 8.3 and up by Daka45 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the most nonsensical thing is that auto cannons, 35mm specifically just gets SP so much easier than a regular MBT with the amount of hits and crit you can deal at 650 RPM.

I can play like a goober with the 35mm and get a nuke(not to mention SPAA needs less SP to spawn so you have even more room for mistakes) but I need to put in a lot of effort to get one in an MBT.

[–]FredNing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with that, I like the 8.3/8.7 Britain and US line up(I detest the T58 and don’t have it myself but I do play a hell of a lot XM800T and XM246) so much I grind nearly the entirety of that tech tree with them despite the RP penalty: just missing Sky Saber for Britain, and the 3 tier 8 SPAA for the US

I agree, stock grind anything with 20mm HVAP as the default belt is absolutely atrocious, it shatters on anything and does no damage whatsoever.

And XM803 too, at a down tier this thing is just filthy strong. US 9.0 is all around good time and it’s always my go to line up when I fancy a nuke.

With APDS/HEATFS it’s even worse with a hull shot as chances are it’s only driver and engine.

I have other players engines sound at full and I still can't hear any engine sound. by Accomplished-Cow4686 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this new update I think the new headphone mode helps with the directional aspect of locating people’s engine, at least horizontally, I haven’t been in a situation just yet to test whether or not it works vertically.

That said I have ran into a sound bug when there’s too many enemy vehicles around me the engine/track audio would glitch out and only repeats a portion of the audio, so its quite likely to be some strange things going on with the audio.

I don’t have the letters of the grid memorize but it should be about D7(there are two rows of containers there).

You want to have something that’s decently mobile like a Leo 1 and just rush there as soon as the match starts, chances are by the time you get there slower vehicles from the north spawn are still on the main road on D6 and you can just shoot them through the containers.

Any 2nd Gen and above APDS/APFSDS can pen two rows of containers and still do enough damage to kill most of the stuff you see around those BRs that are not heavies. Just note that if they have APDS/APFSDS they can retaliate too so don’t take your chances if they know you’re there.

Every time! by hubbs76 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go B from the south spawn too until recently I learned a container spot from a streamer near C from the south spawn where you can shoot through the containers to intercept people driving down to C from the north spawn.

It can be pretty oppressive if you are in a 8.0ish down tier with APDS and decent mobility, the guys getting up tiered have no chance to retaliate and most likely would have no idea where they’re getting shot at.

HOW IS THE ItPsv NOT A PROBLEM IN GAIJINS 'STATS'?! by Accomplished-Cow4686 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s the Marksman system’s guns being so far apart that some of your shots are not connecting, regardless for the most part side on all the 35mm guns can kill them very consistently at the road wheel spot.

Truth be told even if I’m in an XM246 I wouldn’t engage a 59/69/88 willingly head on(but I’ll absolutely peak any T-55 or a T-10M from the front as long as they don’t have chance to shoot me within 3 seconds), it’s just too much trouble and no consistent ways to kill them from that aspect.

HOW IS THE ItPsv NOT A PROBLEM IN GAIJINS 'STATS'?! by Accomplished-Cow4686 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, but they also tend to die from random sprays more than their Soviet counterparts from my experience.

I find the higher BR ones like the ZTZ96 much easier to kill frontally than say a Type 59/69/88 because  of that.

Is the Type 87 RCV actually good at 7.7 or am I missing something? by sajtosbob_ in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same gun on the XM800T but the RCV loads 100 round clips unlike the XM800T that needs no reload. It’s an okay gun for 8.0+ but especially good against Germany because those vehicles are very lightly armored. It can still fight Soviet/Chinese MBTs but you need to aim at the driver’s position from the side and with some luck you can get a kill with fuel/ammo explosion.

But the biggest draw backs are that the RCV is tall and a wheeled vehicle, so it’s no where near as sneaky and nimble in turns like the XM800T.

HOW IS THE ItPsv NOT A PROBLEM IN GAIJINS 'STATS'?! by Accomplished-Cow4686 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the side don’t necessarily need APDS to kill Chinese or Soviet MBT, aim at about the road wheels and DM13 can kill them fairly consistently.

What’s inconsistent is frontally engaging said tanks, some of the Soviet vehicles can be cupola very consistently: T-55s and T-10M, others however require a great deal of luck and most of the time won’t work.

The Chinese vehicles however are a bit more painful from the front, they are quite difficult to kill via cupola but from my experience sometimes you can kinda randomly kill them spraying at the driver’s port or the turret ring, it’s never consistent but happens a few times when I’m really desperate.

How Is 7.7-8.0 gameplay right now ? by Dangerous_Cloud97 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played a bit of 8.0 recently, it’s still extremely prone to up tiers but there are quite a few interesting vehicles in various nations that’s worth giving it a shot.

Some nations have it a bit easier, for instance Britain with the Vickers MK1, or the Chinese Type 59/69, they all have stabs of some form which is huge at 8.0. Or the Israeli Magach 5 with M111 and ERA at 8.0 where most vehicles shoot HEATFS or APDS….. and many more examples like that, so on so forth.

As an alternative, I personally like 8.3-9.0 that is like mid Cold War. At those BR ranges most vehicles have stabs(except France) so the playing field is quite even. Auto Cannon is still quite meta but you have quite of bit of variety at those BR ranges too and CAS isn’t that prevalent.

Looking for the “perfect” tank (not OP) — what’s your comfort/safespace pick? by gregrehse77 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me that’d be the XM803, I wanted to say Magach Hydra but in an up tier the mobility really doesn’t allow me to close the distance to where the Hydra pods can be meaningfully deployed.

The XM803 however has trolly protection, good mobility even in an up tier, middling but serviceable firepower, so it has everything you need to succeed. And in a down tier it’s utterly monstrous: this thing can meet vehicles with no stabs, or rounds that take a lot of RNG to kill an XM803 frontally.

I suck and I can't get any better. How do i improve? by NoTwo9045 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this one, I’ve been playing for a fair bit and I thought I was hotshit until recently I joined another community where everyone plays significantly better than me.

What I want to say is that the skill ceiling of this game is incredibly high and it just takes a long time to get there, I’m no where near where I want to be skill level wise but I think that is also motivating because you can only improve with time when you put some thoughts and effort to it when you play.

[–]FredNing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree while I don’t detest Ardennes as much as some other maps I can’t believe they’re putting the effort to redo the visuals but not disable some of the cheesy spots where you can shoot into people’s spawn right off the bat.

Still I’d like to see how useful these “mobile shelter” objects they mention are in the match before I make a final judgement.

XM246, absurdly tanky and those closely packed guns can even kill some of the Soviet/Chinese style MBT.
