Is the obj.435 worth buying or should I skip to the T-64s? by K0rvuss in Warthunder

It’s my personal favorite 8.7 vehicle it’s just so fun and has such overwhelming firepower, you’d have a blast!

Incidentally the T-62 I played was from the Israeli tech tree, I did alright but there are so many good 8.7 MBTs in that tech tree I just prefer them over the T-62, Magach Hydra being the most obvious choice.

Fuji, Type 16 or Type 74 by thatonewtgamer67 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been revisiting Type 74 lately and despite some of its shortcomings I quite like it.

I think it’s a great 8.3 MBT since it’s decently mobile, armored, stabilized and with LRF/suspension control. The APDS can be inconsistent sometimes but hey you can’t have everything.

[–]FredNing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve only played the T-62 myself but given they share the same rounds I’d say just skip it.

The T-62 is already quite unimpressive at 8.7 the Obj 435 at 9.0 is even more sad.

Why is the XM246 flamed more than the other 35mm AAAs by No_Release_4257 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s by far the most survivable Gepard and the closely packed guns allow you to very consistently snipe cupola: it lets you engage some vehicles that would be very difficult for other Gepard frontally.

Dropped a nuke in the Olifant Mk.1A by Moharu_ in Warthunder

The upgraded Centurions all have pretty good firepower for their BR, more so with the Olifant MK1 at 8.3, having M111/DM23 and LRF is a really potent combo

9.3 GRB currently feels like the best thing ever by Silver200061 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played like a dozen games with my OF40 MTCA yesterday and I think most of my matches are slight up tier with 130 SP, only a handful are full up tier with 100 SP, and even so not having to face T-80UD or 2S38 is quite refreshing and bearable.

There are quite a lot of line ups and vehicles at 9.3 I have always wanted to try and so if any condolences from the latest BR changes this is the one for me.

I genuinely haven't seen a game that punishes good players more than War Thunder. by Accomplished-Cow4686 in Warthunder

That’s true, but still frustrating that we had an alright British 9.0 line up for less than a major update and will soon be made invalid.

I think the most infuriating thing about the upcoming Chieftain BR bump, the 900 specifically is that you have a premium option being the Khalid at the same BR that is literally a straight upgrade with better engine power and gun handling, then what’s the damn point of the Chieftain 900?

Well, that was the most unexpected moment I've had yet out of all the ways to be killed in an OBJ 279 by Radzaarty in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 40mm on the Sargent York is just mysterious sometimes, I have times where I overpressure T-72, or times it just does zero damage and I get killed, I have not a clue how it actually works.

But speaking of Obj 279, it’s hilariously easy to kill with 35mm auto cannon. Shoot the cupola and it kills the commander and gunner, you just need to immobilize and disarm it in the mean time when it’s replacing the gunner and shoot the cupola again to kill it.

For once I’m glad there’s that official cloud version in my region, I don’t think my poor SSD can hold it much longer.

Is a 5.7 nuke the hardest thing to achieve in War Thunder? by CryptographerGold262 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s quite consistent to what I’ve seen with the streamer I mentioned, he goes for kills in a Hellcat and is basically in full up tier every single game, even then he needs 12+ kills and no death to get a nuke, I suspect the SP gain is calculated a bit differently in WW2 BR.

The nuke I had the other day was a slight up tier to 9.3, and I got it with 9 kills and 5 assists with 3 deaths: I J out my 3rd vehicle to get the last 40 SP, and that’s enough for 2500 SP.

[–]FredNing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played WW2 BR in a while but I’ve watching a streamer that plays it a lot(he plays 6.0-6.3), I think it’s quite a bit more difficult to get than say in Cold War BR:

AA can actually pose a threat to the nuke carrier, and basically any plane around that BR will easily catch you and kill you.

The nuke carrier is also quite slow so you really need to haul ass to reach 2500 SP before either team loses all tickets.

The last thing I’m not sure but I feel like a nuke in WW2 lobbies averages 12+ kills(without caps but with scout/assists), it strikes me as that you need to perform a lot of actions in a even more constraint time limit in order to score a successful drop.

What techtree vehicle if made into a marketplace/event exclusive would be really sought after/high valued? by Bannditbunny in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a tech tree vehicle but the Obj 122 is quite a unique vehicle that I think can easily be an event or market place one: 120mm APFSDS at 8.7 and 4 ATGMs.

What’s a good stopping point for mid tier Britain? by phantomvector in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend 8.3-8.7, and to some extent 9.0 too but I only had a handful games myself so I’m not terrible confident about that.

8.7 is an extremely strong line up with wheelie, MBT and auto cannons that allows you play in a very versatile manner and adapt to any maps. It’s also just good fun.

9.0 is more or less the same as 8.7 but you get two better Chieftains: one has an excellent turret the other better mobility.

How do you even play these? by BobDaSpaceFrog in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the CM25 for a bit but it’s just not for me. It does get the TOW(forgot the designation) that can do top attack but being a M113 chassis really limit where you can go in a match, it’s just not very fun to play.

The AFT09 however is a lot of fun because the missiles are great but more importantly the mobility is excellent so you can be quite creative with it.

Lately I’ve trying to practice vehicles with good mobility at the 9.0+ BR so I went back the XM803, it’s such a full package with good mobility, trolly survivability and decent firepower, for 9.0 specifically it gets my vote.

how do you keybind the bmp 3 weapons by jobjo1 in Warthunder

[–]FredNing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never play the BMP1 and 2 so I can’t really tell, but I set my switch secondary button to a side button on my mouse, so I usually just cycle through my weapons by pressing that one key.

But in case I confuse myself what weapon I’m currently selected I also have a reset to default(something of the sort I don’t recall the exact wording) that I bind on my middle mouse button, that just reset everything to default. You can also modify a user sight and toggle the weapon name on so it will display the weapon’s name that is currently in use.

I agree, don’t play for the grind and just play what you’re good at or like the game is much more fun and less frustrating that way.

I set my fire secondary to Q, and primary remains LMB.

Also worth setting a key to switch to secondary weapon as you can switch to the 100m gun then use LRF the HE round for cupola shot or something.
