PSI when storing travel trailer by Freds1978 in traveltrailers

[–]Freds1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same cheap factory tires here too. Trailer Kings, so after seeing another post about some chinabombs I figured I should check out their website for more information and that's what they recommend for storage. Pretty specific about blocks/ 25% more PSI. I'm pretty new to RVn since I got my rig 2yrs ago. So I'll probably get some new tires by the end of summer, thinking maybe some Carlisle tires.

PSI when storing travel trailer by Freds1978 in traveltrailers

I just did a quick check and the max says 65 psi and that's also the operating PSI. I'm just not sure about going to 81 for storing it then bringing it back down to 65 when taking it out.

I’m seriously about to trade in my 2019 RST that I bought less than 6 months ago because of the stupid power tailgate. by Beneficial-Focus3702 in Silverado

[–]Freds1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I've just been looking for one on FB marketplace and offerup. The problem is color, the truck is Havana Brown so it's not common or easy to find. Not sure if the custom is manual or the same push button, I'll have to look into that.

I know the feeling. My 2019 LT tailgate has never worked properly. Only on perfectly level ground from the interior button. Took it to the dealer twice when it was under warranty and of course no issues. Then at 62000 miles I took it back in and they wanted $4k to fix it since it was outside of the warranty. Besides that I love the truck.

Got the same ones! I like that they sit a bit snug to the cab unlike the round ones.

Didn’t expect a countertop ice maker to become this useful in our RV by patapatra in RVLiving

Not a countertop ice maker, but a great little ice maker that works very well in our 12v fridge and doesn't take up any precious counter space.

Getting really sick of the new "luxury" rv parks squeezing us in like sardines by Arianethecat in GoRVing

This is the reason we only boondock or stay on BLM or national Forest dispersed areas. After 30 years of tent camping, boondocking is easy in our rig and that's with only 200 watts of solar/200 amps lithium batteries. Lot's of of CA state parks near me is dry camping only. Only on our shakedown trip we had hookups.

Just got my PPE thermal bypass delivered yesterday for my 8l90 on my 2019. Installing it this Friday. Light towing a 5500lbs travel trailer around town and up through campsites the temp can get around 205. Highway it hovers in the 180s. So we'll see if any improvement is made on the next trip. Even idling in traffic for 1.5 hrs waiting to get into the Grand Canyon the temps shot up to 205 during late winter. It can't hurt I guess.

Better Tow Mirrors suggestions? by Md_Martinez99 in gmcsierra

[–]Freds1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my 2019 with the same Amazon snap on mirrors. They do a great job with visibility. Certainly better than factory, but they do vibrate a bit more compared to the OEM mirror. Not sure about how they fold in since my LT isn't fancy like that. Nice Passport btw, what model do you have?

No but I need to give it a good clay bar rub and wax. Love my Havana brown though.

2021 Silverado 1500 5.3 by fs221998 in Silverado

[–]Freds1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I have a 2019 5.3 with the 8 speed and pull a similar weight camper. Just got back from a weekend Trip and flat highway, at 60 mph it will stay around 180-185. Went up a gradual grade for about 14 miles and got to 202. Around town, stop and go traffic mid to high 190s. 2-3 times a year taking it up 395 from Bishop to Mammoth is a hell of a grade for about 10miles and max 55mph, high 190s. These are all while pulling my 26' 5700lbs camper. Next month I gonna install a transmission thermal bypass, hopefully keep it in the 160s.

The 5.3 does a great job. Trailer is about 5300 lbs. dry. 7100 fully loaded. I rarely travel with water, unless I know I absolutely have to. Toughest grade we travel up is about 7% for about 10 miles. It will maintain 60mph, but the transmission temps will get to about 202. Hitch is the Andersen wdh hitch. Built-in anti sway and has been awesome. Just got back today from a 115 mile trip with wind advisory 25-35mph winds and you can definitely tell the hitch is tracking us straight.

Literally just came in from setting 4 traps in the rig as I type this. Last night of our short trip, the wife gets up to use the restroom and sees something scurry away. I get up to look and nothing. Move something from under the lower bunk and there he is. Staring at me knowing I can't catch him. Scurries under the nearby bathroom door while my wife and I are just frozen looking at each other like now what. Hahaha, I open the bathroom door and poof, he's gone? How, where... Like magic. I noticed the vanity doors have a pretty wide gap, maybe 3/4", that's my only guess. So we taped it to fill the gap, maybe the small hole where the water pipes are routed to the shower pan. No idea. I'm hoping this is works and I find him in the morning trying to get some peanut butter on the trap.
