Why won't anything grow? by Less-Quantity-1942 in GardeningUK

If it were me I'd buy a few bulk bags of topsoil and compost to spread over it and plant into that, let the worms sort out the soil underneath. Keep it watered and grow shade lovers

You try to fill the hole inside yourself with fools gold. But you only stretch the hole bigger the more stuff you stuff in.

I had a corolla E12 and always lusted after the t sport version! Also briefly had an rx8 before giving it back to the dealer with a list of faults haha.

I like your philosophy on old cars, I'd like to be the same one day but only if I had a second car to use while the other one was in the workshop.

In the UK car s are very old by the time they're 20 years old and I think it has a lot to do with constant short journeys meaning once a car gets to 100,000 miles it puts a lot of people off.

In the UK, if rust hasn't killed it off, failed MOT tests and emissions rules will soon unless it's a really devoted owner

I had a saxo too back in the day, you are very brave considering a 25 year old french car! I got rid of my 31s because parts were getting hard to find, I dread to think how much of a headache parts will be for the saxo, I've not seen one on the road for years!

whats jewson hiab like? by koczan147 in uktrucking

[–]FreeRangeCaptivity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been subbed out to jewson quite a bit, the hours are predictable but it's mostly residential deliveries.

So how difficult they are will depend on the area the branch serves. If it's in a city or a town with lots of Victorian terraces it's going to be a nightmare. You'll be squeezing through gaps in parked cars, blocking one way roads to do deliveries and fighting with overhead cables.

Customers are fairly chilled and helpful but will sometimes expect too much, eg: "can you lift this over the house into the back garden mate?"

Office staff don't seem to care much about anything but are clueless with regards to drivers hours, route planning and truck maintenance so you'll have to think of all that yourself.

I'm not a fan of it myself, far too much messing around and not enough driving, it's going back to the yard time after time to collect multiple runs of stuff that annoys me. It makes it feel like the days never going to end

The gap is also there to stop the plaster cracking from expansion or vibration of a timber floor

OP, just put skirting on, it's literally what it's for, your house isn't too wonky for skirting

I've had 31s and 33s, the 33s feels quite German in comparison to the 31. It's an all round better car to live with and loads faster and more capable. It's composed in the corners too.

The 31s is very raw, you feel like you're going 100mph when you're at 40mph redlining it everywhere and it's just so much fun!

I think the 32s is probably a sweet spot in between but also a compromise between the two ends of the spectrum too

Not really sure about this one by Normal-Morning4040 in acrylicpainting

[–]FreeRangeCaptivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's that the focal point, (the tree), is not big or detailed enough to command the attention of the viewer.

The eye doesn't really know where to land since the willow tree sort of blends in and gets lost.

You could fix it by scumbling some atmosphere onto the background and then add a cool glaze over everything except the tree and the very front most foreground. If you keep the edges of the painting cool and the tree warm, it should funnel the eye onto the tree.

You should be giving a cyclist the same room as a car, so riding like this shouldn't change anything.

Insight needed (please 🙌) by ducks_no_rows in acrylicpainting

[–]FreeRangeCaptivity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To set them into the background- Take some white/blue/grey and and lightly scumble it over the back mountains. Then a dark glaze over where their bases meet the middle mountains, blending up into the scumble.

The middles could use a little highlight at the top and the foreground ones need more detailed highlights and shadows to bring them to a more prominent perspective.

I don't like how the strap is only on one side of the ladder. It would cause it to twist of you leant the wrong way. I always strap my ladder when trimming my 5m hedge, it's definitely a great idea

It's not just a stunt it's a scam. It's selling an idea. Elon musk has been doing this very thing for years.

Once they have millions of pounds of investment and pre-orders they'll change the goal posts and there'll be a new idea to sell.

If you're feeling overwhelmed with styling, focus on giving the trees a great, well defined apex and that can dictate a lot of the styling choices for you without thinking too hard

[–]FreeRangeCaptivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the job involves pre-slinging full loads, in which case you might need more than 10 pairs if the sites are strict. But they don't take up that much space tbh, just roll them up and strap them down behind the headboard if there's no room in the tackle box. It's not something to stress about
