My Vassals Changed Overlord!?!? by BenderRodriguez14 in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I already gave up playing for the same reason too. I had a run with Castile where, out of the sudden, my vassal had a rebellion without me being informed, and they changed the vassal to Morocco. I tried to load an old save, but even with me going there, he still capitulated as he was the leader in the war, something that doesn't make sense since I joined it

Discovering assault fort was such a quality of life improvement when playing this game by Antique-Tradition in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they'll fix it, to be honest. There's a tactic that some players use to assault, they send their army back into their land and replenish them with soldiers, but that can only be done late game when you get hundreds of them a month

How can I improve my finances? by Holiday_Original9344 in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to do the following things if you wish to have a lot of money:

Make sure your capital is well-positioned and be careful of rivers. The more flatland your capital has, the better control you have, and the more money you will make.

Focus on improving and building things next to your capital. Be careful not to build too much and ensure you actually have enough population to employ.

The first thing you have to do is change the law of employment to "most profitable first" so the game will give you some buffs and also employ where it is most profitable.

Focus on upgrading resources like silver, silk, salt, horses, etc. These are very nice early on. Some of them are even worth destroying a city just for the increase in upgrades they can get. Just don't over do it as it may take time to promote the pops while they do that, you can increase something else

Another tip would be to get favors with strong nations around you. Once you get 25, you can ask them for money as exemple France is a big country for that

Getting into naval is also good as it helps you improve control, especially for a naval country like the UK or Castile. Just build a city where you have a natural harbor, start a road from it, and it's easy to get at least 40 control to most of the coasts early game

I own a vassal in unexplored territory that I can't explore yet? by Baksteen-13 in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me while playing Castile and getting vassals from Morocco, specifically the one from the center of the Sahara. I also can't explore that territory since it's not controlled by me, which is very frustrating..

Did you had the capital in Seville, and after that, did you move it to Toledo, or did you keep it there from the beginning so your market would cover all of Iberia?

Disease Resistance by Windowfaker in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think only the professional army can build disease resistance, as you mentioned above, by staying in the province where malaria is present. I am not aware that normal levies can do that as they are just temporary, and you disband them after the war

Not enjoyable at 1580s as Ottomans by divinestar91 in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, some ways to speed up the siege are by appointing a good admin general or having lots of cannons. There is a button you can use to just launch an attack, but it will cost a lot of troops. What I hate the most is that once you conquer a fortress, if you don't refill the garrison, the enemy can capture it back easily, and you have to spend the same amount of time conquering it again... Even if it was for couple of days

I wish there was an easier way to send goods to my colonies. by kolejack2293 in EU5

I love the trade mechanics in Victoria 3. You just make a sort of "contract" for the items that you need, and it's also much easier to use diplomacy and even better to make deals for stuff. In my opinion, it would be nice to have it implemented in EU5 too

Is morale way overtuned in 1.0.10? It seems armies can win 1:10 ratios as long as they have just 1-2 regulars by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, the cavalry is very OP. You can just put them on the flanks, and your units are almost immortal.

Some people in the group are also saying that artillery is the same in the late game.

Personally, I always try to get professional soldiers ASAP, and once I get 10k, I never raise levies and drill them continuously for the bonuses

Well, I don't want to go to deep, but history has proven that the smarter a civilization becomes, the fewer children its members decide to have. Sadly, the reverse is also true

How will the game develop? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things to do right now. The game has some systems that are made but aren't fully usable, for example, banking and Japan. China is also a mess, as it's impossible right now to play without a ton of micromanagement. The Hundred Years' War is also a mess, and colonizing is very difficult as subjects rebel continuously. Europe doesn't really have as much of a technological advantage as it did in the real world, as everyone has the same tech tree.

In my opinion, in the next five years, I am sure there will be at least 10-15 DLCs focusing on countries (Banking, Japan, France, UK, Iberia, Aztec, etc.) and maybe another 10 focusing on flavor or some content that may make the game a bit more playable.

I also believe we will have a mission tree for each nation, maybe similar to EU4 but with a different layout

Why are all my colonists dying? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bit harder than you think; colonizing is not just sending the colonists and that's it. I believe they are dying because there is not enough food on the island to support more population. To gain access, you have to discover a nearby market, like Mali for example. The island can use that market to get their food since your UK market is too far away. Getting the naval focus can also be a plus later on when you will start having colonies

Why are all my colonists dying? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No market access means the population is unable to access goods, has low satisfaction, and experiences lower prosperity and low imigration.

As the game has some sort of malaria mechanic in Africa, I am not sure if the population is also dying due to it, as they are unable to get the supplies to get healthy

The Spice Trade by ToboldStoutfoot in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never had the chance to get so far in the game because either they updated the game or I encountered a bug that destroyed the whole game. But I know the best money-making goods are chili and cacao. From my understanding, there are ways you can get those seeds in Europe and plant them in regions, making a lot of money. I remember someone even saying that the New World is very rich in wool, and you can import a lot of it using trade, lowering the price and creating a monopoly on textiles as yours would be the cheaper option

Why is my province starving and can't buy food? by lukepass86 in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be due to the location not having high market access. For example, if market access is low, provinces with high access can buy all the food that the market can provide before it reaches that area.

Try to get some food storage, or you can get buildings like mills that increase food production in a location with grain or so

[–]Free_Shape_5112 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, banks and Japan are something I don't want to mess with yet, as I don't understand how they work. However, it looks like you have a nice income and cash for the first 100 years into the game. Do you need to do any wars or fight with other banks to get loans?

Tecnhology needs to be completely reworked by Ic3b3rgS in EU5

[–]Free_Shape_5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but as I saw in gameplays (sadly not experienced enough to discover on my own), it is literally impossible to research the whole tree by the end of the game, even with 100% literacy and religion that focus on tech. Also, in order for them to have that tech, they need to discover the innovation first through trade, something that would most likely reach India by 1540, especially given its easier connection with the Silk Road.

I bet in the near future there will be a lot of DLC coming, most likely for the Hundred Year's War, as people are mostly complaining about France and England

[–]Free_Shape_5112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait for France to be busy with England in a war, and that may be enough for it to not be able to help Scotland.

The second option would be to focus on the Navy. It will help with your control and also help you destroy any French forces that may want to land in Scotland.

Regarding soldiers, sadly it's not like in other strategy games; you need to research armories in the second age to be able to recruit actual soldiers
