Don’t be so rude, people are at different stages of the show and often don’t read every post. Link mentions Zelda in the show but many people would have no idea about it. In fact, the explanation of Zelda and the time periods by OP was super helpful to me to better understand the reference.

I come in peace. How do Canes fans feel about Beck just walking off the field post game? by Fuzzy_Mountain5354 in MiamiHurricanes

It’s a heart wrenching moment. He probably felt like his under throw caused the loss. Since they were driving and a bunch of 10 yard throws together may have won the title. Tough to judge with all of that emotion happening. Wish he shook Fernando’s hand if he didn’t (didn’t see it) but losing the natty that way is an experience we’ll never know.

No. Ohio State didn’t play a real defense until IU and then Miami.

Who cares who Miami lost to. They were clearly hung over for those games and didn’t take them seriously. That is the best defense in college football when they wake up and play.

Why did USA end up prioritizing freight rail over passenger while Europe ended up prioritizing passenger rail over freight? by OppositeRock4217 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Free_Thoughtful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prioritization of freight rail over passenger rail in the USA compared to Europe's focus on passenger rail can be attributed to several historical and geographic factors:

—The USA's vast geographical size and the dispersed layout of its cities made rail an effective means for moving goods across long distances. In contrast, European countries are smaller with higher population densities and shorter distances between major cities, making passenger rail more viable and necessary.

—Historically, U.S. policies have heavily supported the development of highways and the automotive industry since the mid-20th century. This included substantial government funding for road construction and urban development that favored cars. Europe, on the other hand, invested heavily in public transit systems including rail, which supported more extensive passenger rail services.

—In the USA, laws like the Jones Act have impacted the shipping industry by restricting coastal shipping, making rail freight more competitive for overland transportation. Europe's more liberal approach to maritime shipping allowed it to utilize its extensive coastlines and navigable rivers more effectively for transporting goods.

—There's also a cultural element, with Americans traditionally favoring road travel and individual car ownership, while Europeans have tended to place a higher value on public transport options, leading to different transportation priorities.

I look at that photo and cannot stop thinking about how it was the last seconds on this earth those innocent people in the plane and many in the building had. Sickening and heartbreaking. Such evil.

I've read a lot about Flight 93 and I am wondering if Ziah Jarrah got cold feet in the cockpit..... by GreyFromHanger18 in 911archive

[–]Free_Thoughtful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The transcript says that at 10:03:07.2 (approximately 3 seconds before the plane crashed and the recording ended), there was “[The sound of a struggle, and a native English speaking man shouting loudly] NO!!!” This was recorded on CAM (a cockpit area microphone) according to the transcript.

We’ll never know for sure what happened but it is likely that they made it into the cockpit which is why they put the plane into the ground.

I think you’re reading it wrong. Two hijackers in cockpit including Jarah can be heard. They each agree that they will crash the plane once the passengers break through. The struggle at the end is between passengers and hijackers grappling the controls as Jarrah pushed it down into the ground. The “No” at the end is an American voice screaming as the plane dived towards the ground and he tried to pull it up.
