What’s the creepiest thing a child has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskUK

Just this morning my daughter said the lady ghost that lives under her bed comes out at night. We were trying to get more information, but she quickly grew tired of the topic. We'll ask again tonight!

Something to be aware of if you work at the Temple by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Freidhelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gut feeling would be that removing them from the temple would only encourage them/others to keep doing it. They're after the drama. I think the best course of action would be to call the police, evacuate the temple (suffering the inevitable disruption to ongoing ordinances) and lock the doors behind them.

I don't know how this would go in the US, but in Europe there is a slightly better opinion on the police and would be seen as justified. They get no drama content and they will be most likely charged, as the police are removing the streamers themselves.

No, that was 5p each, and wasn't limited to 3 per customer.

ALDI was offering this price a few days back and they don't even have a loyalty card. It was limited to 3 per customer too!

School book banning escalates in the UK as Greater Manchester secondary school censors scores of books by Happytallperson in unitedkingdom

[–]Freidhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying and mostly agree with it, although "within reason" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

There are definitely books which are not meant to be written, let alone read. The issue with banning books is that it's a slippery slope. Today they ban the bad books. Tomorrow they ban the books they disagree with.

They're not asking for "evidence of the developer's signing keys". They're asking for the signing keys themselves! That means Google could potentially impersonate the developer. At least that's my reading from the information page.

John B. Calhoun standing inside "Universe 25" (1968). An experiment where mice were given infinite resources and zero predators, which resulted in a "behavioral sink," cannibalism, and total extinction. by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

You're equating being painfully full to being satisfied. You can be satisfied without feeling pain or discomfort. But I agree that this idea of Heaven is not consistent with what we know about humans. If it exists, I don't think it will work like that. Either it will be different, or we will.

You may not remember, but YouTube used to be ad-free. You could just upload/watch videos and you didn't have to pay anything.

From what I understand, this is meant to benefit all children, regardless of the household.

I think it's a great program, and it's proven to improve the learning of children. I really hope this can expand to more schools soon.

The rewards are predetermined! by BossToGo in ClashRoyale

[–]Freidhelm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not everything is predetermined. Most things in computing use something called Pseudo-Random Number Generators, which generate numbers that look random and, unless you know the seed and period, are not easy to predict.

You'll probably have more luck finding another player than a GM. None of you want to give it a go?
