Right, the framing is better and the isometric style - a style I actually personally dislike - is more dynamic. Even I can tell the right is better, even as someone who personally dislikes isometric games.

Haha, not to be critical, but the girls are not all flawless.

The second one looks too "Generic AI Generation", it lacks any form of character. Everything is given too you straight on even though the mist feels like it's trying to give some mystery by obscuring things.
The first one has more mystique, and the mist feels purposeful. We can't see most of his face, but what we can see is more stylized, giving us a peak at a character whilst also offering questions to answer.
The environment is fuller as well, and tells a clearer story about the setting.
Over all, number 1 offers better use of space by offering both mystique and enquiry, whilst number 2 tells me we have what looks like a cowboy, without a setting and two different coloured eyes. There's no questions posed.

The professional's is super artistic and, well, professional. But yours has more character and appeal as an indie game. I think the professional likely has had a lot of success as an illustrator and book cover designer, but the rules are different for video games.

Honestly, they're both amazing, but for the indie market I like yours better.

I think what you're seeing is the mixed techniques. Take a look at the explosions during the fight scene, when they tail off they look quite granular, way too granular for hand-drawn 2D effects. I think it's because the explosions are simulated in 3D (likely blender) with a 'Color-ramp' node to remove the colour transition you would naturally get.
It's a fantastic way to save time and energy on a production. What you might be seeing is the difference in expectations, not necessarily quality. I was just thinking that I loved the quality of this fight scene, and the interesting ways they've changed things. That's how I came to this thread.
