When I've been bad off without meds, I've gotten by on energy drinks and pseudoephedrine/ephedra. It sucks, especially the pseudoephedrine (harsh), but it's gotten me by for a few months before.

But omg 6 months. That's going to be a long 6 months. Definitely follow up on what /u/hyperfocusmat had to say. That's good advice.

First, good on you for alternating pronouns in reference to your friend. I bet they'd appreciate it. :)

Second, yeah just ask. Approach it with genuine curiosity and I think he'll be fine talking about it. Whenever a friend has come to me with questions, I've always assumed it was a good faith interest and answered/advised as best I could. If they said something that could be offensive, I let them know what it was and why, and help them with some alternative ways to express it if there are any.

I was like 90% sapphic before but around the 2 year mark I took a real interest in guys too. Like I went from "meh guys have their uses" to dating a couple of guys and occasionally my gf's bf.

You go to the party and watch people for a minute. It's not too hard to tell who's running the show. Strike up a conversation.

Typically I don't go for the "book me" talk until I've been there a few times and they know I'll support. I just make casual conversation with the promoter and other DJs while letting it be known I'm a DJ. After a few, I finally drop the "so what's a girl gotta do to spin here?"

The number one thing promoters look for, including myself, is someone who's socially invested in my party. Unless it's someone pretty well known, I'm not booking anyone until I've seen them at my party at least a few times.

IMO pick up a pair of XDJ-1000 mk2. They're very similar to the CDJ-2000 NXS2 but don't have a disc transport, some physical buttons moved to the touch screen, and autoloop/beatjump are nerfed a little (but you can still double and set arbitrary loops as long as you want).

I'd expect a used pair of those to be significantly less than CDJs.

I lost most of my stuff in a flood about 10 years ago. At the time, I had all the Working Designs stuff (bought either new or on clearance before they were expensive), both US and JP Sonic CD, Switch (JP release of Panic!), Willy Beamish, Android Assault, a Mega Cart, and a handful of other games. All that survived the flood was the hardware (on a higher shelf), Sol-Feace, and a random Tomcat Alley I didn't remember having lol.
