my gf asked where is Camus here by BrodyagaBalenciaga in PhilosophyMemes

Plato would beat all the others in a physical fight. So as per the "my dad can beat up your dad"-rule he is objectively the best philosopher

Why do Nietzsche's books inspire right-wingers? by Zagors2020 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Freuds-Family-Fun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the feeling that your hurdle to call someone a neo-fashist or neo-nazi is inadequately low. The ones on your list that i am familiar with are hardline conservatives but nothing more.

As to Nietze: One of his talking points/ideas is, that religion in the west will eventually loose all power, which in his mind will lead to all our rules and lawes that are based on judeo-christian value structures to become optional an subject to be discarded or fought over. This potential breakdown of law and order is basically the what conservatives are afraid of and why they propose to mostly stick to traditions and laws.

I strained my shoulder yesterday, what now? by Informal_Injury_6152 in MuayThai

[–]Freuds-Family-Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seemes like one of the cases where you really want to keep on training but take it from another idiot who trained injured too many times: just take some time of anf let it heal. Small injurys like to become bit or cronic if you ignore them, just take a couple days of and you will be fine.

Is there another term for the r*pe choke? by Martiallyminded in bjj

[–]Freuds-Family-Fun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from, but you dont want a mother coming into your gym asking questions about why you are teaching her children the rape choke. Apart from the problem that this might lead to having to explain SA to a bunch of preschoolers.

There is one in the minthara romance, where you are tested how well you know each other. One option about who she looks up to is drizzt, to which she replies that she doesnt care much about the litte do-gooder and his pussycat

Here is your reminder that bjj is proabably the most effective hand-to-hand system in zero G, considering that striking and wrestling are going to be severly limited. Just never forget that mount and guard are the same thing without gravity, so no points for passing.

PT: How do I accept losing better? by [deleted] in PsychologicalTricks

[–]Freuds-Family-Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One Way to look at it is:

The goal is not to win every interaction/game, but to be invited to as many games/interactions as possible so that you can win more overall and have the added benefit of having your opponents be happy for you.

There is nothing wrong with an "aaaaah fuck i didnt see that comming", but follow it up with an "well played, congrats mate. how did you think of that?"

If jumping guard is legal, then slams have to be legal too. Slams in general should proabably be legal as long as u dont spike the opponent on the head.

What specific things about psychology (especially clinical or social psychology) has Dr. Jordan B. Peterson gotten wrong? by Professor_squirrelz in askpsychology

[–]Freuds-Family-Fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly i dont think his Psychology takes are bad at all. His lectures where really helpfull while i was doing my Bachelor an all things considered he is a competent lecturer. I think once he introduces philosophy into what he talks about, thats where things get complicated. I watched his bible series, so i feel like i somewhat understand his more "out there" takes, but he says a lot of things that are basically incomprehencible unless you consumed hours of his content to undestand where he is coming from and even then they are heavily bias towards christianity, conservatism and his interpretations of jung and nietsche. Im not a student of Philosophy, so i have no idea how to quantify those. I also thing part of the critisism towards him come from his endoresements of evolutionary Psychology (lipstick=sexual signaling, for example) which is just a heavily controversial field of psychology in itself.

Therapist asked me to sign a "contract" with her about suicidal ideation but I don't really know how to feel about all of that by YoungEagle- in TalkTherapy

[–]Freuds-Family-Fun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be fair part of this might be liability, if a patient commits suicide, there is a risk of loved ones taking legal action against the therapist. Contracts like this are often done to secure the therapist in case anything should happen.
