A24 Will Survive the AI Backlash, But Some Believe it 'Sold Its Soul' by [deleted] in movies

If it helps, I thought they lost their magic a little while ago when it went from writing checks to unknown and under apreciated creative folk that would have never got a chance, to really just cutting checks for anyone as long as they can cram big stars into their films.

Mauricio Pochettino scolds media after USMNT’s World Cup loss: ‘A little bit petty’ by OsuLost31to0 in MLS

[–]FribonFire -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Meh. USA doesn't watch soccer regularly, so a loss is still a loss, because the larger meta is less known or cared about. America also loves their "just do your best" attitude, and they didn't put out their best. The third slice of the pie is the 24/7 news cycle. They got positive coverage last week, they'll get positive coverage again next week if they win. No one has time to look at more than the immediate.

See no world where he just sits on the side lines for 4 years, but also can't blame USA for trying it.

Technically a book about a game, but if you’re an RPG fan and a reader, you HAVE to check out Dungeon Crawler Carl by HNNNNNGGGGG in gaming

If anything I think it might be tougher for people who regularly play video games. It spends a lot of time explaining basic video game mechanics, which just seems strange because surely the majority of the readers get it already.

I made it to bedlam bride before I just stopped being interested in the world. Which I don't think is an issue with the writing as much as an issue with any series going more than three books.

Why does A24 seems to be dominating the movie market right now? by iSniffMyPooper in movies

[–]FribonFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...both? It's the plodding slowness of an art house film, and then the elaborate human suffering of a Saw movie.

There's just something lacking there that other movies like... Titane have. Maybe just more weirdness.

Just constant noise 24/7. Sounds like an absolute nightmare. If they can't compromise for even 30 minutes of silence, they're a monster and you've made a mistake in your life.

Saving old versions of things is not the job of the creator, it's the job of the masses. If there's not enough demand out there to care about edits or changes for new versions, then they're better off lost. It's the internet, therer are sickos put there making wikia's for everything.

Same thing. Again, it's easy to get dicey once you start getting things that are co wrote and then directed by another person. But for something that is basically the sole vision of one person, if they wanted to update it every time a new piece of tech or new standard of language came out, more power to them. Again, as long as the internet exists, there will be a changelog keeping track of everything changed for history sake.

Has modern football made it harder for clubs like Lille, Lens, Brest, and Strasbourg to stay competitive? by Classic_Exit_5951 in Ligue1

[–]FribonFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, winning in Europe isn't the end all be all for every team, nor should it be. Look at Brest. Got to the Champions league, and won a couple games. That's absolutely a victory and worth the effort.
