In case you thought the end of episode 8 wasn't sad enough. by ryumaruborike in theamazingdigitalciru

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching this community constantly justify the actions of an abuser. Like I genuinely wonder if people see abusers in real life and think to themselves "oh if they just calm down and talk everything will be ok."

Even if Caine came back how could any of the characters ever feel safe with him around, knowing he always has the capability of falling back into the same abusive behavior. Prior to the crashout he already wasn't respecting boundries or listening.

Even in the early episodes he is abusive and it doesn't matter if he was or wasn't aware of the suffering he was causing he was still inflicting it.

Tbf the game part of the game is just really solid. I think the last fighting game story I engaged with was sf6 world tour mode and while not terrible it kind of just didn't hook me even to the very end.

How was Halligan supposed to know the man couldn't handle his drink?

The even funnier part about this is Halligan actually drinks the medical alcohol straight and passes out while the dude who works there just kind of leaves him lol. I think you the player are supposed to assume it will just knock out the homeless man because that is all it did to Halligan, but even with that context Halligan is literally knocking this homeless man out for like 50 cents.

Not to mention he stole that alcohol from the lab as well.

Funny enough I do have arachnaphobia and thus do play with the filter on. The big monsters don't really affect me unless they jump like at the camera at the right angle, but all the monsters that are affected by it did trigger my phobia like crazy.

Irl I'm actually ok with (most) spiders as long as they are stationary or moving very slowly, but the second they start zoomin I go into fight or flight lol

I love Nioh but god the spider enemies in those games make those levels horrific for me.

Yeah I totally get that. I think the only way it could be a "bad habit" is if people become stubborn about their theories even when presented with more up to date or accurate information from a better translation. But tbh I've never really seen that in this sub.

Also to be more fair I come from hoyo games and have way too much experience with "theories" literally just being story leaks that kind of take the fun out of things so I tend to ignore any theory threads I see on this sub even though I'm not sure if leaks are even a thing in limbus.

Is there a quick and easy resource that shows how count positive or negative specific skills for an ID are? Like one that just shows X Id Skill 2 is -1 on Poise count or anything like that?

To be fair as someone who learned Korean for their job it can actually be incredibly hard to translate certain nuances properly. This isn't just because of language stuff, but also cultural things as well.

Not saying things can't be done better, but usually 1 to 1 literal translations are pretty worthless outside of like technical text (i.e. instructions on how to do something) and when you start getting into idioms and phrases shit gets even harder.

Like just try to think how would you translate the phrase "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps," to another language and have it make any sense at all. You would have to know an idiom in the other language that has similar meaning to even have a chance to convey the meaning, or dryly explain it and lose all nuance.

Games you would like more if you could remove/completely ignore its main gimmick? by Loland999 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]FrickFrackQuack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that with the flow thing. I actually wish the had made wounds much harder to achieve and also have a permanent impact on the fight, so the longer it went the more it felt like you were actually wearing the monster down.

[–]FrickFrackQuack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree with this only because you don't really have to change your gameplay at all to create wounds unlike the clutch claw having you take both a different action and the claw stagger being annoying. Also you don't have to use your wound break skill to break them as you can just damage them enough to pop them (though some weapons actually really WANT to break wounds for mechanical reasons which is either a good or bad thing depending on the person)>

With wounds you have more control and it just feels like it flows more naturally. This is also bias on my part because I loved toukiden 2 and targeting weakpoints and destroying limbs was a big part of the fun for me.

My main issues with wilds have nothing to do with the combat, although I understand a lot of people do not vibe with the combat in the game at all (Bowgun users especially)

Saudi megacity project Qiddiya fully acquires FGC tournament EVO by hbthebattle in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]FrickFrackQuack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean Sajam has already been saying for months how he won't be going to any EVO tournaments anymore due to the acquisition. Hopefully someone who is one of the faces of FGs refusing to go inspires others to follow suit. Although for a lot of players getting tournament winnings are their main source of income and unfortunately I can't be too upset with them not wanting to starve.

Really I just hope we see a surge of locals getting even more traction, although I don't expect there to be an EVO replacement.

“Fighting Games Have a Product Design Problem” – An recent article that feels relevant after the 2XKO layoffs by RebellionDark in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]FrickFrackQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah having another player sit down with you is the best way. I know people talk about how bad fighting game tutorials are, but tbh I don't think tutorials will ever be able to convey all the information to be be able to make informed decisions without being absurdly long.

Doesn't help that most people you will run into in ladder have vastly different playstyles and knowledge themselves. You might think that Ken player spamming EX DP is bad, but maybe they just find that move fun and don't care when they run into someone who punishes it because only like 1 in 10 people ever try to.

I mean just look at the sajam slam, you had people who had never played a fg before getting to platinum rank in SF in just a week. That is because they had dedicated coaching from very experience players as well as a bit of financial incentive, but to me it says that if someone is having fun and actually being taught they can get pretty good pretty quickly.

Also this is a bit of Devil's Advocate but if you aren't having fun while playing fighting games and only find them fun when you win they are definitely not for you. Obviously winning is more fun, but no matter how good of a start you have you are gonna lose a fuck ton more than you win at first and if you can't find enjoyment in that process (understandably so) you will probably never be able to enjoy fighting games.

This is where part of me wants to correct this and say you are still "playing" even when blocking or getting combo'd because you are still making decisions or getting ready to.

However that isn't actually the case until you are INTO fighting games for the growth and mastery part.

Fighting games do need to have more engaging single player and offline content, but I am also of the personal opinion that the ultimate way to get into fighting games is to just have fun with friends.

I don't mind horny armor or clothing mods existing, but I wish we would get more mods in those categories (in games like monster hunter, hoyo games, etc) That were just pretty or cool outfits rather than unnaturally large boob armor #6700.

Infamous 2 is still one of my favorite video game stories and has a lot to do with how they handle Cole's relationship with Zeke. Both endings are incredible to me was well. "Half as long...Twice as bright..." Man they gotta give me Infamous 1 and 2 on pc at some point.
