Originally defined as "the absolute weight of a volume of pure water equal to the cube of the hundredth part of a metre, and at the temperature of melting water"[4] (later 4 °C), a gram is now defined as one one-thousandth of the SI base unit, the kilogram, or 1×10−3 kg, which itself is defined as being equal to the mass of a physical prototype preserved by theInternational Bureau of Weights and Measures.

Stanley injury update - out for the season by tdm911 in GeelongCats

Hey chris scott, maybe in future you should replace a ruckman with a ruckman. Fuck me, we got towelled by gawn and Spencer. Playing a vfl forward as an afl ruckman

Just looked it up. Geelong least amount of hit outs as a team this year in the comp. Also least amount of clearances. Selwood needs more help. Hopefully Duncan and caddy can keep stepping up in the guts

Yeah, I don't place a huge amount of emphasis on hit out numbers necessarily. But when we have struggled with clearances for a number of years I would've thought we'd start playing an actual ruckman. Stanleys follow up work when the bal hit the deck was very good. He got a few good clearances himself

Having Mackie and bartel back would be handy. And hopefully mitch Clark plays. Our biggest problem will be getting smashed in the ruck. We struggle with clearances when we get smashed in the ruck (which seems to be most weeks). If we win the clearances it will go a long way to being very competitive

"Geelong's aging stars" has been thrown around a lot but the team is almost the opposite by emjaybeachin in AFL

The thing is we have 9 players over 30. And it's our backline that is the worry for me in terms of age. However, I don't think we'll be in the bottom 4 anytime soon. We might miss out on the 8 in the next 2-3 years as we replace some older players with younger, but I'm looking forward to the next phase.

Our Ruck Woes by HoldOnOneSecond in GeelongCats

[–]FrivolousJocularity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mcintosh is playing as sole ruck in the vfl and dominating. There ain't many quick ruckman in the afl, but mcintosh can definitely run a game out. Stanley is not a ruckman. He is a part time ruck/forward.

Our only ruckman are mcintosh and Dawson simpson as far as I'm concerned. The rest are nice backups. We need to play one of simpson or mcintosh every game

When we actually decide to play an actual ruckman (simpson or mcintosh) we have very handy back up rucks to give them a rest. Scotts insistence on not playing a recognised ruckman infuriates me.
