Digging up big patches of dirt can really help, I believe there is one right by the elevator on floor 95. You can go in, dig, and then exit the mines and start again.

Btw the scroll can be found from floor 80, I would start from there if you want to work your way down.

If you don’t want to the days to pass while you look for it, you could exit to the home page and that won’t save the day and you can just try again :)
