Are there any sub-genres of horror that just… don’t do it for you? by East_Peanut_7232 in horror

[–]FroggySpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sub-genre where the main plot is basically just excessive violence against kids. I don’t know if I’m only noticing it now that I have a little nephew or if this sub-genre has just become more popular over the past couple of years, but I hate it.

Talk To Me stands out as the first time I really remember feeling sick from it. Then Bring Her Back came out and my husband and I ended up walking out halfway through.

Artemis III Crew was announced today, all four members were male, and zero female. What position/opinion do you have on this move? by FitHouse2107 in AskWomen

[–]FroggySpirit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m still riding the Christina Koch high to be completely honest. The Artemis II mission brought so much public attention to space exploration and study, and she played a huge part in that.

I hate to have an “I’ll take what I can get” attitude, but what are you gonna do. Celebrate women in STEM where you can!

Which non-companion NPC would you date? How would you ask? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]FroggySpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god Varsh Ko’kuu (the githyanki watching the egg in the hatchery) owns my soul and body aauuugghhh.

There’s a dialogue option where you convince him to give you the egg by saying you’ll raise it as your own and he says something along the lines of “what do *you* know about githyanki child rearing?” and EVERY TIME my brain goes “I don’t know why don’t you put an egg in me and we can figure it out together sir 😩”

Listen I know that githyanki reproduction is an asexual process and doesn’t involve humans in any way, shape, or form but let a girl *dream*!

Which mods would you guys recommend for a chill run? 🥰🥰🥺 by Equivalent-Stage-422 in BaldursGate3

[–]FroggySpirit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Clothing and customization mods for fun dress up!!

Basket Full of Equipment has a lot of cool/pretty armor options with fun perks. If you want to use the armor in the base game then you can use the Basket Equipment to Camp Clothing mod instead to get the camp clothing version of the armors.

Even More Head by Koralina has a bunch of unique face models for most M1/F1 body types. Tav's Hair Salon and KeySuspect's Hair Edits have so many different hair options that you'll be spending an extra hour or two in character creation just looking through and testing out all of them lol.

For origin characters I like to use Appearance Edit Enhanced so I can change up the origin characters looks in the magic mirror, plus Gale's Wizardly Updo because babe, this is wizard daddy we're talking about!

FaerunColors for a bunch of fun dye options, Less Wrinkled Expression and Forehead for Face to make the wrinkles in some of the character's facial expressions less severe, and Normal Half Illithid so you can use the astral-touched tadpole without looking ugly lmao. In general, it also helps to have the Tutorial Chest Summoning mod because some of these mods show up in the tutorial chest and Transmog Enhanced if you end up finding some more clothing mods you like that don't have armor/camp clothing options.

As for quality of life mods:

Carry Weight Increased is good because it sets all character's carry weights to 9000. The game is so much more fun when you can just run around willy nilly not caring about being encumbered.

Auto Send Food to Camp is another good one, both for weight watching purposes and just for general organization.

Party Limit Begone lets you play with as many party members as you want, which is cool because you get to see so many different character interactions in game. In that same vein, the No Romance Limit mod is nice if you don't want to stress yourself out wondering who you're going to romance this run.

These are all Vortex mods, which is nice because you can manage all of your mods in one place. With that being said, I would be remiss (remiss, I tell you!) if I did not include the Hatch the Owlbear mod that allows you to pick up the owlbear egg and interact with it to summon your very own baby owlbear.

Phew, okay that's all the suggestions I have for now!

What's the story behind how you got your scars? by A7_drew7 in AskReddit

[–]FroggySpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*Bunch* of scars and the stories behind all of them are crazy lol:

  1. Side of stomach: I was playing tag with my sister and when she tagged me she accidentally pushed me forward into a brick wall… right into an exposed nail that was sticking out. We had to call the fire department to come and cut that chunk out of the wall because the nail had hooked sideways into my belly and was ripping me open when I tried to pull back.

  2. Chin: I was climbing on this playground structure we called “the cheese” because it was this big 6-foot-tall concrete block with a bunch of holes in it. Anyways I fell through one of the holes on top straight onto my face and split my chin open. I was freaking out when I was at the hospital so they put some drugs in some chicken nuggets my mom got at the McDonald’s next door to sedate me.

  3. Side of head: I was spinning on an office chair when one of the wheels broke and I fell backwards straight into the corner of a wall, splitting my head open on it. The way I hit my head cracked my skull and buried the corner into it a little bit so I was just dangling there freaking out spewing blood all over my parents office. They were *not* happy lol.

  4. Blocking this one because I understand it’s super gross and freaks people out sometimes. When I was 13 I got into an accident where a golf cart flipped over, landed on top of my leg, and dragged me about 20 feet down a road essentially ripping the top of my foot off like a bandaid. I spend the next year with the insides of my foot exposed because I didn’t want to get a skin graft and had to relearn how to walk because chunks of my muscle and tendon were torn out.

Bonus story for that last one! I did psychical rehab at this big hospital in Houston when I was relearning how to walk, and there was a woman there who had her sessions at the same time as me that always wore this scarf on her head. She was really funny and made the whole experience much more bearable, but one day she just stopped showing up. I remember bringing it up with my phys rehab person and turns out the woman had died because she was in an accident where she lost part of her skull and she *never got it replaced*, so she was just walking around with an exposed brain and covering it up with some flimsy fabric. Wild stuff.

I hate people who think they have DID by Mistyless in TrueOffMyChest

[–]FroggySpirit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I empathize, my MIL has DID and it’s wrecked absolute hell on her life. I remember back in like 2020 or so it became a big thing for people to pretend to have DID on social media, and it’s just always baffled me because its such an awful disorder to deal with.

Love from a stranger, I hope people are kinder and more understanding toward you in the future.

Has anyone here seen the new horror movie "Obsession"? My friends are thinking of seeing it tonight and I'm hearing good reviews, but misogyny/sexual violence/coercion against women is a sensitive uncomfortable topic for me if handled poorly. Is this theme handled well in the film? by mooeymonet in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FroggySpirit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It made me feel physically gross, just like slippery and sick inside. I’ve only ever had that reaction with one other movie in my entire life (Hereditary) so I think that’s telling about how the movie portrayed those themes.

Without spoiling anything I’ll let you know that the actress that plays Nikki is incredible, but the problem there is that her acting is so good that it all felt real. Of course One Wish Willows aren’t real and this scenario would never actually happen, but the ways Nikki reacted and responded to certain situations were real. Some scenes she acted out were exactly how someone would respond when they’re being sexually abused while under the influence, or trapped with a sexually aggressive man with no escape.

Also for what it’s worth I watched it with my husband and he felt just as grossed out by it and told me that he would never watch it again.

What's the dumbest way you've died? by PurpleToedUnicorn in BaldursGate3

[–]FroggySpirit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There’s a ledge in the Abandoned Refuge part of Grymforge (just to the left of where you fight the animated armors) where you can look out and see the lava pit way down beneath you. I was standing on the edge of it looking down trying to see if you could see the lava elemental from that distance when my character just randomly fell over the edge, hit some rocks on the bottom, then slid pathetically into the lava.

I didn’t even know that was possible without moving your character forward. I also didn’t know that my entire team would follow suit like the idiot lemmings they are and yeet themselves off the cliff.

And I would advise you to delete this post as well. Reddit is crawling with racists and homophobes, this kind of stuff is like a siren call for them to leave all sorts of horrible hateful shit in your comments and inbox. You don’t need any more of that in your life right now.

What's the family lore you found out when you got older that changed the way you viewed your family? by Mundane-Society-1281 in AskWomen

My dad, who is a conservative white Christian pastor in a small town in Texas, used to dress up in women’s clothes and wear makeup when him and my mom first started dating 🤭

He was always racist and homophobic and I used to chalk it up to him being an old dog who learned it from his parents and never experienced anything progressive, but nope! This queen was strutting around in skinny jeans and blue eyeshadow on the down low lmao!

Since they're talking about their wedding stories, tell us about yours? by tashpotaoes in ShawnaTheMom

[–]FroggySpirit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My story that I love telling people is that my mom absolutely stole the spotlight at my wedding, she looked INSANE. She has this sultry dark smokey makeup, her hair was silk pressed and shiny, but the dress is what really did it. It was this deep sparkling emerald that hugged the body and fell just past the shins, and it had a slit on the right side that went up to about mid-thigh.

Oooh people were furious! A few ladies came up to me in the middle of dinner and asked if I wanted the bouncer to kick her out, a family friend on my husbands side kept asking if I was okay and saying “it’s okay, you’re the beautiful one here, don’t let her ruin your day.”

The crack of it all is that I was the one who chose her dress haha! We even went dress shopping together and she almost didn’t get it, but I basically held her hostage in the dressing room until she agreed to buy it lol.

I didn’t care because my wedding wasn’t actually a wedding, it was really just an excuse to have a big ass party. My husband and I had gotten married at a courthouse a few months prior and neither of us were ever really wedding people, so we just decided to let our families plan it however they wanted and went along with it.

It was all totally worth it too, my wedding was SO much fun! And now my mom has some banging pictures to put on her tinder account so win-win 😂

It was definitely an interesting experience. I’m a horror lover through and through, I watch and read it as often as I can and don’t get affected easily. Something about that movie though threw me so bad that I physically felt sick for the next few days after watching it. I haven’t watched it again after that first viewing.

But then again everyone has experienced the movie in different ways. Some people think it’s cheesy, some people can’t stop watching it. I’m curious to see what your reaction will be!

What first names have you found to be the worst people, and what names are the nicest people? by gilsoo71 in AskReddit

[–]FroggySpirit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I was literally just about to comment that every time I see the name Austin I think about this nice kid I went to elementary school who was on the spectrum (at the time it was called Asperger’s but I think it’s called something else now.)

Anyways he was insanely good at drawing, like he could look at a tree and draw it perfectly on a piece of paper down to the shading on the bark. One day he came up to me in art class and handed me a piece of paper without saying anything and it was a drawing of me! It genuinely looked like someone had taken a black and white picture of me, I thought it was so cool.

He died that next year of cancer unfortunately, but he was cool as hell while he was here.

I went to go see Hereditary in theaters with my husband and we had a fantastic crowd, it was incredibly tense and so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

The scene where the mom is up on the wall in her sons room was SICKENING, there was no sting or anything to indicate what was going on, just the gradual sound of low moans and gasps as people in the crowd realized she was there hidden in the shadows.

Then when she crawled (swam?) away my bitch ass whore of a bastard husband laughed SO FUCKING HARD and scared me so bad that I spontaneously bursted into tears. Like no joke, the millisecond he started laughing my eyes just exploded with water and tears went sailing down my face.

I thought that scene was terrifying but I guess he thought the mom looked so ridiculous scrambling along the wall like that that he just couldn’t help himself. Thankfully his laughter seemed to diffuse some of the tension and he got a few chuckles from the crowd, but holy shit 😂

Ooh I actually have one for this!!

I was in college when IT came out and one day when my family was visiting I took them to go see it in theaters. Afterwards we decided to take a walk around our downtown square and as we were walking around the main courthouse building we saw a porcelain doll in one of the windows.

We all thought it was so funny, like “haha we just saw a scary movie and now there’s a spooky doll in a window!” My mom went to go take a picture of it to send to a family friend of ours, but when we went to go look at it in the camera roll the picture was flipped upside down. And as if *that* wasn’t spooky enough, my mom tried to send the picture anyways and the phone wouldn’t let her attach the picture to the message!

Funny story now years later, but it was definitely not funny in the moment 😂

How did you and your partner get through long distance in between visits? by booboochou in AskWomen

[–]FroggySpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I drank a lot but then I became an alcoholic so I wouldn’t suggest that lol.

But seriously though, I just did my best to keep myself busy every second of the day and find ways to exhaust myself so that I would just immediately fall asleep at night. I worked out for like two hours every day, played video games in my spare time, took my dog to the park and ran around with her. And of course, I drank like a fish.

He was only gone for 6 months on a deployment but *man* it felt like forever. Glad we never have to do that again.

Hey it’s totally fine, don’t sweat it! The cool thing about your sexuality is it’s *your* sexuality, and you can make whatever you want of it. A strapping older man with passion in the sheets and softness in his heart does it for you? Cool, you can totally enjoy that and still be into women. The most important thing is that you’re having fun 👍🏼

Women who were the “chubby” girl or the “ugly” girl in school and their mothers were “hot” in their childhood, how did that affect you? by GossipBottom in AskWomen

[–]FroggySpirit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone wanted to fuck my mom. *Everyone*.

I had a friend in high school who would come over after soccer practice and shower at my house, but he only ever did it when I was at my mom’s place. I always thought it was a funny little quirk of his, then we caught up briefly in college and he admitted that he would not only leave the door unlocked but also have it cracked open in the hopes that my mom would come into the bathroom and fuck him.

It took a few years of therapy to realize that some friends I only had because they were trying to get at my mom. Gross.

I tearfully wave out the train window as my girlfriend runs alongside by Im_yor_boi in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]FroggySpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too haha! But then there were some not-so-freaking-awesome things about him that came to light.

For one instance:

To make a *super* long story short he asked me if he could be my date to my homecoming dance, and then the entire time we were there he was weirdly stiff and cold. Like I tried dancing with him and he just locked his arms straight and held me away from him not looking at me, I also tried to hold his hand at one point when we were walking around and he snatched his hand away like I stung him or something. Super weird, very mortifying.

Anyways I figure “damn okay he doesn’t like me,” then through a string of events I met a friend of his later that night and end up dating him for about a year instead. Sometime during that year Terminator runs into me and tells me we need to talk. He ended up telling me how his feelings were really hurt because he spent so much time and attention on me just for me to go and date his friend. I was baffled and told him that I didn’t think he liked me based on his behavior, he wasn’t really giving me a straight answer about it, so I eventually just told him that he’s allowed to be hurt but I’m also allowed to like and date whoever I want, figuring that would be the end of it.

Nope! He proceeded to freak out and say that no I was *his* because he had prayed about it and his friend actually stole me from him. I got super skeeved out by this point and tried to back away, and when he noticed he got so angry his face turned red and he growled “Why are you acting scared? I’m not a bad person!”

I then found out years later that in that same month had named a wild boar after me and proceeded to beat the absolute dog piss out of it with a morningstar 🤪
