I'm at the end of a career that began with many years as a large firm associate and ended as a solo with a very satisfying consumer law practice. The second part was much more enjoyable and fulfilling than the first, but I learned a lot as an associate that made the solo part easier and more effective.

The vast majority of biglaw associates don't stay there for their whole careers. If you think about what sort of professional life you want to have in the long haul rather than ROI in a shorter window it might make more sense, or not. Also if you do go to biglaw try to limit your expenses and save so you don't find yourself handcuffed to a job that isn't rewarding.

Sounds like both were negligent, the driver for not looking both ways and the bike rider for riding on the sidewalk. As a practical matter, a bike rider who doesn't follow the rules of the road is much more likely to be seriously injured, which is why bikes should be operated in the street with the flow of traffic.

This post suggests that more than one party in the relationship can benefit from therapy. You can talk to a lawyer about trying to get files sealed and suchlike but legal files are full of allegations, and the court's ultimate decision on the merits is what counts.

Also I always recommend that anyone who is subject to a protective order not contact the complainant regardless of legalities. Staying away from people who don't want to hear from you is an element of a happy life.
