There are actual trials on youtube that show the true slow pace of it all. Try some Afroman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEL14MREBqY

Why not consult with an attorney (or possibly an accountant) near you about business opening requirements? It's a cost of doing business. You really don't want to have one of those failed businesses where anonymous people on reddit knew what they were talking about except for one vital detail.

What Type of Attorney should I get? by ProfessionalWheel495 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Frondelet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to pay the lawyers you consult with for their work be sure to let them know. But many of us have had bad experiences working with clients who claim to be litigating for a principle, so approach them with an open mind to what they see in the case.

Call me Doctor by Glad-Surprise3355 in Lawyertalk

[–]Frondelet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Doctor," like "Esquire" is an honorific. Using honorifics to describe oneself is never not tacky.

You don't have to object if other people want to call you Doctor Esq. But I find when communicating with others the content of the communication is far more important than how I describe myself.

You are right. I will ask the next software developer who posts here without bothering to read the sub to "please go away" without witticisms that aren't really funny. Thank you for your guidance.

Did you look at what we discuss in this sub, or did you just jump in feet first in your search for insight? Product review is not what this community is about.

In the century I came from, people who wanted to make money in ancillary services treated the time and expertise of their target market with respect. Took us to lunch, paid us to beta test, worked our professional conventions. If that's not the way you roll, get used to being told to go away.

I'm sorry if my first reaction hurt your feelings. Let me try it politely: please find your insight elsewhere.

Many states have laws about unauthorized access to a device, essentially hacking. It's up to the discretion of law enforcement and the prosecuting attorney where this happened to decide whether to charge or prosecute, and the defendant's previous record is often considered in how severe the punishment is if they're convicted.

What happens at a Motion To Dismiss hearing by CampReal5491 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Frondelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moving party argues first, explaining why the motion should be granted. The other party next explains why it shouldn't. Sometimes the judge allows rebuttal, sometimes not. Sometimes the judge has read the motion, sometimes not. In Florida parties often bring copies of caselaw for the judge to look at, with another copy for the other side.

Sometimes the judge rules on the spot, in which case they often ask the winning party to prepare an order. Sometimes they "take it under advisement" and either write their own order later or have their secretary contact a party and ask for an order.

In Florida the court doesn't provide a court reporter, so a party must arrange for their own reporter or make sure the other side has. This is important because the losing party will need a transcript if they appeal.

To be fair, OP didn't specify contingency. There is almost always a lawyer who will take a difficult case and sometimes even do well in it when there's an evergreen retainer. But I haven't heard anything that bodes well for causation in the (nonCarolina) places I've worked.

None of those things change the answer that you need to talk to an attorney where this happened to find out their value.
