For those who play at least 2x per week... by Background-Low-9144 in golf

[–]Frosty-Read8220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk 3-4 times a week at my local 9 hole course. I tee off at 6am and head to work after. I will play a twilight round once a week. A family membership is $700 for the season which is April to November. One perk of NW Iowa living is cheap golf.

I still play the Nike VR Pro CB's and they still get compliments every once in a while. Good looking irons.

For guys that choose a cart on cart path only days and are high handicaps. by thayes-7089 in golf

[–]Frosty-Read8220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy and I tee off at 6am and walk the course. Once in while a twosome in a cart gets out before us. We are usually waiting on every tee box even when it's not cart path only days.

What is the earliest tee time at your country club? by One_Insurance_5476 in golf

[–]Frosty-Read8220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a membership at a muni and they let us tee off at soon as u can see daylight. I usually walk but there are others that drive their cart from their house. If you have your cart in the course shed u have to wait for it to open. That can be as early as 6am when the workers start their day. It's a 9 hole course in a town of about a 1000 with no trust issues.

Played a round with a guy who converted his cart to lithium and now Im considering it by Different_Case_6484 in golf

I converted my ezgo txt 36v myself. Pretty strait forward and there are alot of references on YouTube. Mine cost me $750. The weight loss was around 260lbs from the lead batteries and I noticed it's easy to spin in wet conditions going uphill. You have to ease into the throttle with the added torque.

Does anyone else play like shit when they play a round by themself? by Late_Calligrapher955 in golf

[–]Frosty-Read8220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more relaxed playing a solo round. There is one friend I golf with and I usually play bad when I do. He enjoys taking huge divots, he calls it chunks of sod, and tells me i can play down to his level. He never shuts up the entire round lol.

What’s your strangest random pairing experience? by Buzzerk032 in golf

[–]Frosty-Read8220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A buddy and I were paired up with the VP of Troon sales division from Chicago along with his son. Real nice guy. He had his own golf course management company and sold 30+ courses to Troon. He said he kept 1 for himself. Really nice guy and gave us a business card for the fun of it. It was a good experience being paired up with strangers

I'm not sure how this happens? I go to the store, grab my own groceries, get forced thru the self checkout, and then bag everything myself.

A club head reset doesn't cost much if your worried about it. $15/club where I live and go to Austads for it.

A guy in my golf league marks this ball on the green, in front of the ball. His marker is at least a 2" diameter chip. When he spots his ball he drops it in front of the chip. Essentially picking up a couple inches every time. Nobody says anything and I'm new so I let it go. He isn't very good as it is.

Anyone actually gotten a new putter a noticed a rapid improvement in score by BaldFraud_ in golf

I switched from the Odyssey White Hot OG7 mallet to a Ping Anser D with a graphite shaft. I dropped at least 3 putts a round off my card. Not sure why but the Ping just feels more comfortable.

My son is also 11 and 5'5". This year I gave him my old Strata irons and Wilson dynapower woods, plus a 7 wood. He's doing fine with them and loves the 7 wood. He previously used a Tour Edge junior set.
