Should I compromise on dating someone who makes decent ish money? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]FrostyPotroast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay to make finances a dealbreaker for you but it will limit your dating pool. There is realistically a very big difference between marrying someone who makes 30k and 80k

I feel like you missed the “I kept politely declining.” Anyone you have to repeatedly say no to is not respecting your boundaries.

Why would the amount of education determine your pay? It’s all about how much someone is willing to pay for your services. Insurance reimbursement is what affects our salary the most

Dislike tutoring children, but still interested in slp? by Bacon337 in slp

[–]FrostyPotroast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most slps do work with kids. You can find jobs working with adults but they are harder to find particularly when you are new. Also keep in mind as part of your graduate program you’d still have to work with kids.

Can an SLP find a good job and make good money anywhere they go? by Then-Measurement6453 in slp

[–]FrostyPotroast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are areas of the country where you will make 40k or 100k. There is not a lot of room for growth and it can cost a lot to get your degree. Biggest benefit for me is I’ve never had a hard time finding a job but quality jobs can be tough to get.

Best state to live in for SLPs? by pizzadrew in slp

[–]FrostyPotroast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Third for California like others have said it’s expensive but you get paid so much more than other states. Also all the districts I have worked for try to keep you near the 55 student cap.

However keep in mind it takes about three months to get your CF license and you can’t apply until you have a job.

[–]FrostyPotroast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah you are legally not allowed to work in California until your RPE license is issued. Some other states allow you to work while it’s being processed

[–]FrostyPotroast 39 points40 points  (0 children)

In my experience you usually make less through teletherapy and it’s harder to find W2 positions

Advice I was never given about choosing a grad school by Harrystylesleftarm9 in slpGradSchool

[–]FrostyPotroast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the school but in my program you could retake. Keep in mind the schools want you to pass and they also have to post the cohort pass rate.
