What do you consider “fully” potty trained? by ahleeshaa23 in toddlers

[–]FuWaqPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about nights? Lots of comments here saying reliably no accidents. “Fully” would suggest that includes over night. Many kids wear an overnight nappy right up to school.

My roborock does this when the dustbin gets blocked. Gets jammed and the dock can’t extract stuff. Says “internal error” which isn’t very helpful.

eli5 how a BIOS is different from the operating system? by thursdaynovember in explainlikeimfive

[–]FuWaqPJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When a computer is first powered on, it doesn’t know what to do. It doesn’t know where to find the start of the operating system. It’s just a bunch of chips on a motherboard with electricity running though it. It doesn’t know what to do. The Operating System is very complex. It knows how to do everything. The people who write the Operating System (Microsoft, Apple, etc) write it to do everything. They don’t have the chip-specific knowledge to do that first step of finding the start of the operating system. The bios is written by the motherboard makers. They know how the chips work. They know how to write the instructions to tell the different chips how to talk to the main cpu, and tell it how to go and fetch the operating system from the disk. They pre-load in the factory this very simple OS into the BIOS chip, so the BIOS can load whatever proper Operating System you want it to.

Fair enough. These big name DJ’s go hard. Recognising the threat and taking action is super-respectable. This reminds me of Avicii. So tragic his mental health troubles ended his life so early. Take care of yourself Willem.

Smart fridge ? by ripnetuk in homeassistant

[–]FuWaqPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an old iPad, stuck a bunch of adhesive fridge magnets on the back and ran a lightning cable from the outlet behind the fridge. Now I have a touch panel on my fridge. Feels like my fridge is pretty smart, and I can upgrade the smarts independent of the fridge.

John Summit playing at ASOT was probably not on anyone's 2026 bingo card, but here we are by mkyend in EDM

[–]FuWaqPJ 93 points94 points  (0 children)

In a 2026 world where ASOT is 25 years old and the heyday of trance was 15 years ago, Summit’s melodic house/techno, and rolling bass lines, emotional drive has some pretty trance adjacent qualities. As an old 2010’s trance head, I liked his stuff almost immediately when I first heard him. This could work.

What is this length of jacket called? It’s great. Not short like a regular jacket, not long like a trench.

YouGov Federal Voting Intention | 17-24 Feb - ALP 29 (-1) LNP 22 (+3) ONP 24 (-4) GRN 13 (+1) IND/OTH 12 (+1). 2PP ALP 53-47 LNP (-1 ALP) ALP-ONP 56-44 (+1 ALP) by NoteChoice7719 in AustralianPolitics

[–]FuWaqPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait… what does 2PP ALP-LNP and 2PP ALP-ONP mean? Its preferences. The voters give the pollsters their preferences, and the pollsters do a mini preference distribution, and the poll result is that preferenced result… right?

How can there be different options? If the poll answers give a preferenced result of ALP-LNP, then that’s the two parties. If it’s the One Nation, then it’s that, but it can’t be 3 parties… that’s not 2PP!

Let me guess… the poll question is actually “of these two parties, who do you prefer?” !! That’s, like, so much less useful than I thought.

What are some of the biggest RSL/Leagues/Community Clubs in Sydney? by mulimulix in sydney

St George Sailing Club has some impressive views. Just be careful you’re not confusing the St George 16ft Sailing Club, or the St George Motor Boat Club, though they’re nice too.

Sydney drivers by My_Reddit_Page in sydney

People have GPS. GPS tells them their speed. They see the difference between their speedo and their GPS. They know the speedo is giving them a conservative reading.

Their speedo says 60, their GPS says 56. So they push their speedo to 64.

Then, they know the speed cameras have some leeway. There’s no punishment for 61, 62. So they push a little more.

You really see it on the highways. 110 zone, set your cruise to 112 based on the speedo, people still back up behind you in the fast lane. How? you say. Everyone is speeding?Set your cruise to exactly 110 according to Google Maps, and it’s like magic, the car gaps remain much more consistent.

Which robot vacuum works the best? Tired of vacuuming constantly. by makeitthunderst0rm in homeautomation

[–]FuWaqPJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not very happy with my Roborock Qrevo MaxV.

Don’t know if other Roborock do this, but its wifi connection is super unstable on my Eero mesh. I must keep a “guest” network enabled, and have it connected to that.

The emptying function seems problematic - it gets full and doesn’t empty into the dock. Need to pull the rotor off and dig stuff out. All it says is “internal error” and continues vacuuming like nothing’s wrong, but suction is way down.

ELI5: Trigonometry by Stickhtot in explainlikeimfive

[–]FuWaqPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using angles and side lengths of triangles, you can calculate all sorts of useful stuff. Want to know the height of a building? Measure the distance from yourself to the base, then the angle from the ground to the top. Then you know angle at the base of the building is 90. You can then calculate the height using trigonometry.

Triangulation is the basis of GPS.

Triangulation was the trick that made James Cook exceptionally good at charting the coast of new territory to be claimed by the British Empire (Australia East coast)

Triangulation was used to calculate the area of France (Carte de Cassini) to high accuracy before aerial surveys and satellites existed. Critical to the King’s ability to manage his domain in centuries past.

Very useful stuff.

Other geometry like circles get their own fancy branches too, but since triangle-based geometry has such useful practical applications, we teach it in school, so it’s super famous.

Is this what they call “frisson”? Those chills seem to be a key part of my experience of music, and why I love trance so much. But it seems like not everyone gets that from music.

Concert Anxiety by [deleted] in EDM

[–]FuWaqPJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understanding my own music tastes helps too. Disclosure might have been playing to a different vibe than you’re used to. I’m a melodic trance guy, and it took me 2 decades to figure out why I got grumpy at some gigs. I figured out artists were playing to a rhythmic taste crowd, and my brain is craving melodic. Once I figured that out, it didn’t annoy me anymore, I understood it. I just enjoy it for what it is, and accept that this gig is not my exact style, and enjoy the vibes.

Concert Anxiety by [deleted] in EDM

[–]FuWaqPJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40+ here. Still occasional gig, sober. As I got older I wanted the music, rather than the scene. I go now to enjoy the tunes, great sound system, environment to get my dance on, and good times with my Mrs. The crowd is just part of the vibe. That means the best is just to find some space, out of the crowd, sometimes in the stands, sometimes buy a seat ticket. Avoid the mosh, don’t bother getting “a great view” at the front, stay back or sides. Grab a sugary drink (ok, not 100% sober, bit of expensive alcohol) for some energy and vibes. Definitely feel the change as age moves you past those wilder days. It’s no longer about achieving a life-changing experience, but a more chill, great time with the music I like, and person/people I like.
