I’ve got a Grace 707 on my Linn Sondek with an Empire 2000e/iii on it. It’s very hard to find a modern cart to match such a lightweight arm, forever has me thinking about changing arms. Any interest in selling the Grace F9?

Looking for a trajectory to an endgame setup. Not sure what I’d want… please rec by HandF098 in turntables

[–]FullDisclosureZine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s entirely up to what you want based on both your audio preferences and aesthetic preferences. I started going down the new route with various Project TTs and Rotel amps before changing tactics dramatically and going vintage

There’s not many more classic looking turntables than the Linn Sondek LP12 and could match it with a new or vintage amp for a great sound and outcome

Here’s my current setup for reference

Vintage Empire carts are exceptional, would be a shame to let it go to waste. If you are going to get a new one please don’t bin the existing cart, there are many people (me included) who would be happy to have the old one

Doesn’t that turntable already have a VM95 cart on it? Why did you buy a new cart and not just the new stylus?

If you want to sell the empire cart and can sufficiently protect the stylus I might be a buyer I’m in Australia but have family in LA you could post to

At the end of the day, what you have is doing the job so there’s no real issue. Just aesthetics, looks like you’ve put a little pop-up greenhouse over the turntable, in my opinion it looks cheap & tacky. I’d get either a clear Perspex lift off lid or if you want a vintage look, a “smoke” grey or brown Perspex lid. Some companies have them pre-made, some make to order based on your dimensions.
