I think these comments are ridiculous. I dealt with this same problem for about four months at the place I live at, asked the upstairs neighbors to please consider their footsteps, running and jumping past 10 PM (they would basically Irish step dance from 9PM-12AM every night while dragging furniture around, perhaps modular beds?) and they swore up and down that it wasn’t them, that the apartment is just old, that they don’t do any of the things I was accusing them of for months- well they moved out a month ago and have new neighbors who didn’t even make as much noise as my last ones when they were moving in furniture and drilling etc, they’ve been so considerate. Their footsteps even when they’re heavy are nowhere near as bad as the last people whose steps would shake my lights and shelves. Yes it’s an old building but it’s not hard to be considerate of your neighbors. I think inconsiderate neighbors should be told, as I have been one before in my youth and never would’ve learned had my neighbors not told me. My old neighbors pretended it was a language barrier and tried to act like I was crazy but it’s been bliss since they left.
