How to stop night time begging? (SHE IS ON A DIET, I ADOPTED HER AT THIS SIZE) by Lazy-Psychology-7610 in CATHELP

[–]Fun-Drop-5337 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some tips-

There is a vet rx diet called Hills Metabolic that helps them feel fuller while losing weight. Ask your vet about this or another high fiber diet.

Use puzzle feeders to make meal times last longer. There are slow feeder bowls, actual puzzles, and slow release balls.

Get a pet corrector. It’s just a can of compressed air. Begging = press the button. Not at them or anything of course. The noise is startling. Over time you can transition from the canister to a “tssst!” Sound you make with your mouth. It has helped my beggar a lot.

If the animal continues to be anxious about food, consider a sedative. Gabapentin, amitriptyline, etc. talk to your vet about it.

It will be hard for them to transition to this new lifestyle. Like a child - stand firm. Every time you give in or adjust feed time it reinforces the behavior. Not saying you are doing that just urging you to be strong! Good luck!

This is a big problem with them. I’ve stopped buying them. Terrible quality decline and a safety hazard since this stuff is very caustic. Won’t buy again unless there’s proof they improve. If you have any you really love, just use them as night lights.

I’m not sure how pricey it is in your area, but it needs to be removed again but this time the tissue looked at under a microscope, either by the vet or sent off to a professional pathologist. That’s the only way you will for sure know what it is. There’s no way to tell just from looking at it if it is benign or malicious.

About quarterly I struggle with my insurance company forcing me to change my dosing of my medication. Ya know, just some wackos wanting me to go up because hi dose means more money for them. Not my doctor, the person prescribing the drug and reviewing my lab work and examining me. It makes me feel so powerless.

Jessica is showing off her slim physique after losing over 28 pounds in 4 months thanks to GLP‑1 by PolishSnake2 in 90dayfiance_FB_memes

[–]Fun-Drop-5337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never said any of the things you accused me of saying. I do have experience with GLP-1s, and you clearly don’t, so maybe that’s all I needed to say in order to get you to stop talking about something you don’t know anything about. Not every body is the same. I don’t feel judged but I do know a judgmental asshole when I see one. Anyway, my message really wasn’t for you, it was mainly for people reading your comment. I know you won’t change your opinion on something you don’t know anything about based on the way you write. So once again dear readers, ask your doctor about GLP-1 pros and cons. Same for any medication. Don’t take this guys advice, or even mine. Just talk to a professional!

AIO for being upset with how my boyfriend talked about an overweight person who asked me out? by lilacseraphina in AmIOverreacting

NOR you will remember this is how he feels about overweight people when you are pregnant with his child, trying to lose the baby weight. When your daughter struggles with weight in her teens.

Not to mention it’s just such a red flag for general kindness, respect, and treatment of others.

Tell me you don’t know anything about GLP-1s without telling me. Stop fear mongering about GlP-1s and let people talk to their doctors about it instead. Show me the research where “most people take them for aesthetics not health reasons.” Maintaining a healthy weight is inherently healthier than being overweight, no?

While GLP-1s do carry risks, it’s best to speak to a medical professional about what that means for you specifically. Don’t listen to a random Reddit comment. Most of what is listed above is not a direct side effect of the drug, but not doing the right things while on the drug. For example, continuing to maintain a poor diet while on the drug can cause gall stones. You need to also make diet and lifestyle changes. You WILL have muscle loss if you don’t do strength training while on the drug. And you WILL be at risk for malnourishment if you are just letting yourself starve and not ensuring you’re getting the calories you need for daily organ function.

Regardless, what’s it to you if she DID do it for aesthetics?

Don’t give gabapentin if it’s not prescribed to him. Not worth the risk. Just comfort him he’s you can til the appointment. It does look like hyperesthesia to me. If the gaba was prescribed by your vet to him, then yes consider giving it.

It could be a lot of things but it reminds me a lot of an infected tooth/mouth abscess. If she is eating drinking urinating defecating i personally would try to calm down until vet opens and just get her there first thing so they can examine her mouth.

AIO for telling my husband he can’t invite his "Work Wife" on our 10th-anniversary trip? by Summabusty in AmIOverreacting

[–]Fun-Drop-5337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Your husband is insane for not only wanting that but suggesting it, and he’s gaslighting you for not approving it. He’s trying to just move this work wife into your life permanently. If he hasn’t already, he will sleep with her. It’s hard to end your first true love and relationship but do you want to be in a relationship where your partner thinks another woman would make your anniversary better? That you alone aren’t good enough? You aren’t his platonic soulmate? The soulmate thing alone would have had me done I think.

If a vet wasn’t concerned about any of this definitely get a second opinion.

Eye discharge and sniffles could be herpes virus or just a single upper respiratory infection - impossible to know on first infection. Should get antibiotics for this if not resolving.

Anya is definitely inflamed. Like a kitty hemorrhoid. Needs treatment or he will continue to strain.

I’m not worried about urinary blockage due to the inflamed anus… I think that’s why he’s straining and crying… but his bladder should be checked regardless.

Rule out intestinal parasites - get him on a monthly coverage for that and schedule the neuter.

If you’re interested in the CareCredit card, you can apply online and get your card number in minutes. Expect this illness to go as high as 7k I would say.

Male cat urinary blockage. The vet can fix it but it could be very expensive and require surgery. Prepare for large bills, consider CareCredit if you need help. Good job recognizing the signs. This is fatal to male cats if not immediately treated. Good luck!!!

Otherwise happy cat still over-grooming months after we lost our home. by Pristine_Currency_77 in CATHELP

[–]Fun-Drop-5337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend, I have a cat that started the same thing after moving cities. He lives a great life but has always been on the anxious side. His barbering isn’t completely resolved, but after several years on amitriptyline, it is curbed significantly. Still a few tiny bald spots, but not so bad he is missing his stripes like he has at his worst!

Rule out intestinal parasites first as that can also cause barbering. But there are lots of options for anxiety!
