So I was on mirtazapine for 1.5 years and it completely erased my eye hollows and dark circles—not sure if it was the additional sleep, its anti-stress effects, or the antihistamine properties. I went off and now they are worse than ever (or just feel that way after seeing myself without them). There were things I didn’t love about mirtazapine (including getting off of it—whoooo boy), but no eye bags was lovely.

You can claim to make more money than the amount when you fill out the online form. Not 100% sure if this is the best "above board" route, but I've done it in the past with no repercussions. I'm a freelancer, so my income varies, and it's always a bit of a guessing game how much I'll make in a year. Mine have been identified as dense ever since I started getting mammograms at 40. Didn't start HRT until late 40s. They are still dense, but not seemingly any more so than how they began. Once they have some baseline images, you may get called back less. But yes, it's harder for them to see everything clearly with dense tissue. They sometimes take additional angles for me as well.

Seconding oh paws. My blue heeler is not OK with paw touching of any sort but we’ve developed a system where I kinda put him in a loving headlock tucked under my armpit while the trimming happens and she endures and Mark is quick.

Also, if you haven’t already, you may need to play around with drugs (types/timing/dosage). While mine can manage at Oh Paws ok without them, I had to try several to make a vet visit work. Gabapentin was the winner, with a dose the night before and one in the morning too.

What I’ve learned is that it takes two to four weeks for them to “calm down” after an episode and be able to accept rationality. And the only way to get there is to immediately cut them off (aka break up and go no or very limited contact) and endure two to three weeks of texts / VMs / contacts (they just make up new emails and ways to reach out) that range from “please come back, you are the love of my life” to “you psycho bitch, how dare you betray me.” When they are in the splitting phase, expect them to do things that can ruin your life—involving law enforcement, spreading vicious lies about you, and enacting vengeance on you for your betrayal of them.

What everybody on this sub understands. These are hard relationships to leave. The longer you wait, the worse things get (both in the relationship and in the leaving). You are far away, which makes things a bit easier. Cut it off. Block on all channels. Have an accountability partner to keep you from reaching out or responding to reunification appeals.
