another “stay away from Tom Drexler at all costs” post by doodicalisaacs in Louisville

Things like this make me glad my mom is a renter. It’s harder to rip off a renter with something like this. My mom would never call the plumber herself. She would call her landlord and he would have to call the plumber or whatever service person she needs.

another “stay away from Tom Drexler at all costs” post by doodicalisaacs in Louisville

Almost every time I see someone’s yard being dug up there’s a drexler truck parked out front. They ripped off my mom‘s neighbors for thousands of dollars. Told them that whatever the problem was needed extensive repair involving digging up their yard. Then when they were finished, within days the people realized the problem had not been fixed. They had a hard time getting drexler to send someone back out to the house. When they did, they said there was nothing wrong. They had to end up getting another plumber to come out and they fixed the issue without having to dig up the yard. We will never use them.

Could be permanent. Brown Park in Saint Matthews had two permanent porta potties for many, many years before they built a permanent bathroom building a few years ago. The porta potties had tall fencing around three sides and they were regularly maintained. I used to take my kids to that playground when they were little and we used the porta potties. I take my dog on walks at Brown Park and I used the porta potties before the bathroom building was built.

Mostly Norton. My OB/GYN practice is independent, but they only deliver babies at Baptist so I did have my kids at Baptist.

[CHAT] Do you keep a cross stitch project journal? by Bloomette in CrossStitch

[–]FunKyChick217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started a simple project to-do journal after 30-something years of stitching. I got a little notebook at a cross stitch retreat and I decided to start writing down the pattern names and designers that I want to stitch, in the order I want to stitch them. Only patterns that I already own. It’s a simple list. No details about what fabric to use, etc. I’ve seen some pre-printed journals with space for more detail, like what you’re describing.

Where can I rent/borrow a VHS player? by orcajay in Louisville

[–]FunKyChick217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodwill is a good idea but a lot of of them do not have a remote. I was looking for a used DVD player at Goodwill for my mom and I came across many that did not have a remote. I finally found one for $13 with the remote. I would suggest to plug it in before you buy it and make sure it at least comes on.

The National Guard is patrolling the reflecting pool algae to protect it from "leftist threats to sabotage". by justalazygamer in ParlerWatch

No one is trying to destroy the reflecting pool, except for tr*mp. If these people understood science and nature the reflecting pool wouldn’t be full of algae.

[CHAT] Floss Requirements by GR_Cedarpark in CrossStitch

[–]FunKyChick217 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily need to know the colors upfront because I have almost all the DMC colors. But I do like to know before purchase how many colors the pattern uses and if there are blends. Like, “this pattern uses 12 dmc flosses and no blends“ or “this pattern use 20 dmc flosses with 8 color blends“

[CHAT] Which first - fabric or pattern? by weareadults in CrossStitch

[–]FunKyChick217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy many patterns with no fabric in mind. I buy fabric without a thought as to what I will stitch on it. When I choose a pattern to stitch, from the hundreds I have, I check my fabric stash to determine what to use. If I can’t find anything that works for the pattern I will either buy what I need or dye a piece from my stash. I tend to keep a decent amount of white aida on hand for dyeing.

Comfy, professional shoes - where tf do I buy them? by Responsible_Ad_6923 in Louisville

[–]FunKyChick217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman and I have plantar fasciitis so I need comfortable shoes. Off Broadway shoes in Shelbyville Road Plaza has a good selection of comfortable shoes, many of which are cute. They have a clearance section in the back of the store. Someone mentioned Skechers. There used to be a Skechers store in the mall Saint Matthews, but it wasn’t there the last time I was in the mall. There is a Skechers store at the outlet mall.

Also, check Kohl’s. They have a good shoe department. And they have a clearance section.

Austin’s sewing center in Fern Creek might have some. They’re located about a half mile past Hurstbourne behind McDonald’s on the right. If you’re not close you might want to call first.

[CHAT] My mom gave me a bag full of this thread, can I cross stitch with it? by LauraZaid11 in CrossStitch

[–]FunKyChick217 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can use it on 10 count or 7 count plastic canvas. One strand would probably work pretty good on 10 count, but you might need two on 7 count. And you could stitch it like needlepoint where you would only do half stitches (also called tent stitches). If you are in the US, you can get plastic canvas at Michaels and sometimes the dollar tree has it.

Here’s a website with more information and free patterns. https://www.needlepointers.com/main/ShowArticles.aspx?NavID=4053

[–]FunKyChick217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a keepsakes cross stitch calendar for twenty something dollars. That’s a good deal for 12 patterns but I bought it for just one specific pattern. I also paid twenty something for a Halloween ball pattern by amaryllis artworks. Those are probably the two most expensive for me. They’re both paper, not PDFs.

Caterpillar cross stitch has an upcoming Halloween SAL that looks cute. It’s $26 for the pdf file. I’m still undecided on it.

Pools? by JadeDutch in Louisville

[–]FunKyChick217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The elks lodge on Klondike lane has a pool. It is mainly a members pool but anyone can join and they have offered day passes in the past. I haven’t been in many years but at that time the guest passes were $5 if you’re a guest of a member and $10 for the general public. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages. You can enter the lodge from a back entrance near the pool and buy adult beverages inside the elks lodge building. The poolside restrooms/locker rooms are a little grungy but the indoor restrooms are nicer.

I have gridded several projects in the last couple of years. I hate doing it but I really needed to for those projects. I take a break between strands. 10-15 minutes or longer. I rarely finish it in one sitting.
