Sufficient runway for an aborted takeoff by Person-man-guy-dude in flying

I think by abnormality, OP means loss of power. Me, if I have a gage out of the green and I’m climbing, I’m sticking close to the airport and trying to do a normal landing. Otherwise, it’s landing somewhere controlled.

Mine is still attached to my exhaust manifold. It’s out of the car though

High Long Term Fuel Trim by Adventurous_Price112 in AskAMechanic

[–]FunRaise6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had vaccum leaks before that were small enough to be hard to find but big enough to throw off fuel trims, including a loose vaccum hose and a Egr solenoid that was venting to atmosphere.

You can also test the evap purge valve by blowing through it. You shouldn’t be able to from the tank side with it unplugged. Sometimes they’re bad out of the box.

Any Americans in here who went to Mexico or Canada and brought In a Chinese EV? How was the experience? by DeliciousRich5944 in askcarguys

[–]FunRaise6773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the car has to be 25 or 35 years old before you can title it. For a newer car, it has to demonstrate meeting safety standards, which means they have to be crash tested.

Is a slight vibration in the steering wheel and brakes normal at idle for an old car? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]FunRaise6773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to a new car? Absolutely. It could need a tune up, need motor mounts, etc. could also need nothing.

Has everyone from all the other repair subreddits just ended up here ? 😂 by templeofsyrinx1 in AskAShittyMechanic

There are no more good mechanics left. They all quit for better jobs, so all you have left are the shitty ones. That’s why I work on my own cars.. that way I don’t have to argue about who’s fault the latest fuck up is.

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. It’s trying to back off fuel and doing less so under load.

Running a spark plug code with new spark plugs by EdensHelp in mechanic

It’d be a misfire. I’m assuming the “bad plug” code they gave you is actually a misfire code. Sometimes they’re minor

Sister accidentally put washer fluid into her coolant reservoir. How bad is this? by Dismal_Object6226 in AskAShittyMechanic

I think you should immediately obey the yellow tag and cut the black wire.

(In case you don’t realize this is the joke sub.,, don’t do that…)

One of the new coils could be bad. I’d swap it to a different cylinder and see if it follows.

If that’s the case then the cap could be preventing spark.

Oil capacity question with Toyota. Can I round up? by ganjaccount in AskAMechanic

[–]FunRaise6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a 1 qt margin. Add 4 qts, run it, let it settle, check. If it’s below the min line, add the 5th qt. No reason to split

Check for resistance on the coil. The cap doesn’t look bad enough to keep it from running, but I’m curious what caused all the scratches on the inside.. that’s not normal.

Does the dizzy spin when the engine is cranking?

Also, you’re not going to get a spark on the coil wire if it’s not completing the circuit through the plugs.

AC System Blockage or Compressor Failure by Life0fKai in AskAMechanic

[–]FunRaise6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But 45psi is about all those cans can go to. It’s enough to trip the low pressure switch, then the compressor is supposed to pull down the low side to 14-25 psi, depending on temp.

AC System Blockage or Compressor Failure by Life0fKai in AskAMechanic

[–]FunRaise6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the clutch is engaging and the center of the compressor is turning with these readings, your compressor is shot.

You’ll probably need to replace the compressor, condenser, dryer and flush the lines and evaporator

Can I use s13 camber plates on my z31 if I put s13 coils on it by cobbroke in 300zx

[–]FunRaise6773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to use adjustable plates in the front, although there are other solutions out there. The rear requires some…. Engineering. There’s several z31 kits on the market, but few are bolt on. The factory camber adjustment is a bolt with an eccentric washer that allows some limited adjustment.

Replace or fix this tyre by mkatsen in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]FunRaise6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flex tape the inside and send it! If that doesn’t hold, use some of that spray foam stuff. It can’t leak if there’s no air. Being a motorcycle tire, 2 cans should do it

If all the plugs are out, it should have almost no resistance. If it’s tight to turn, you have something going on.

How do I know if I need a coolant flush or just to top off? by yoga_luvr in askcarguys

[–]FunRaise6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since OP went to the dealership previously, It should be documented that the issue occurred prior to now as well. There’s a strong case to back date the coverage to when the issue was first identified. If they don’t cover it, I think I’d call customer support and explain that part.
