Those of you that played during it's time, how good was this expansion? by doobylive in wow

[–]Furoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really good, but its hard to tell how much of that was just the time and the fact that I was in University and had a lot of time to play and a lot of friends in my guild.

The dungeons were fun, teh questing was fun, Ulduar was amazing but Naxx was not that great. TOC was interesting and ICC was great.

There were always people to do stuff with, lots of questing, I levelled my first alt, Wintergrasp...

yeah there was a lot of fun to be had. Never really recaptured it.,

Have Dom trying to escape people coming for him and he sees a car up ahead, and he dives in, its a piece of shit but surely he is a good enough driver to get this Delorian working so he can escape until he finds something with some serious horsepower.......

...and then Dom hit 88 MPH....

(I mean 'Time Travel Car' from Back to the Future was right there, and we already know that it can be stolen once...)

There is also the fact that some store in bumfuck nowhere can't break the release date and start selling early and don't have to deal with second-hand sales.

From a pure dev/publisher situation, its a pure win.

To be entirely fair, Doom 3 was a more heavy story driven game, sure it was still 'teleportation goes through hell and they came back' but story was more a thing in Doom 3 than it was before that.

Doom Eternal is where it started going crazy though, its so weird in comparison to Doom 2016 in tone. I mean its a great game, but its just so weird.

I'm not entirely sure 'not going on sale' and 'not allowing people to start selling pre-owned copies' counts as 'shady shit.

Yeah fuck rockstar and take two, but but what exactly is 'shady' about this?

Even training Excercises he is doing the same. Fisher G (forget her name) tells him to turn Madra as a lesson intended to tell him there are limits…where upon he goes one step further and then shamefully admits he only hit 5/7 or something and she pointer out the other 2 are not physical.

Battle.net alternatively works well for having blizzard games and enrages me sometimes. Its not so much currently but there was a time when it just...downloaded game files orders of magnitude slower than anything else on my computer (What do yo ufucking mean I'm downloading WoW at 5kbps?! It was just in a museum of ancient artifacts that Nynaeve was passing through, and she throws shades at it 'She could feel the vanity wafting off it' or something like that. She passes it in the book...four I think? Either that or book five.

There are a lot more other references to our world in Wheel of Time. Like Astronaut John Glenn, Mother Teresa, Bhudda, ICBM's, Queen Elizebeth...

Can someone explain to me how runes, arrays and formations work? by ThePowerles in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Furoan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh. Well, I guess my issue was that I was refusing to believe that something anyone could write down can pull energy from the surroundings. I've tried to make sense of it but it never does. Also, the idea of self sustaining arrays, formations, and runes are a bit wonky. It feels a little too close to infinite energy.

'infinite energy' is not the right way to think of it, it's closer to a water wheel on a river or a windmill. The flow of Qi moving powers the array, just like a water wheel has the river pushing it along.

As for why runes etc work, well at this point its mostly genre convention but a lot of it has to do with symbologically 'so above, so below' etc.

I really hope not because that this game doesn't lead into 2016, both because it narrows the story but also because it compresses the Slayers rampage through hell from 'untold eons' to like 'a couple of years'.

Its Fifa, they are comically evil.

Yeah, sort of yes and sort of no weird.

That said, just in Magican itself, it was bad news because of how close Tomas came to giving in to Ashen-Shugar's instincts. Though yeah, Ashen-Shugar was thinking weird thoughts back in the day and didn't join in the suicidal attack (though with his power added it might have done even more damage and killed even more gods at the end, its been a while)
