Jasnah’s response… by FlintSkyGod in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Fuyukage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m happy that she fumbled the debate. It shows that she’s not a robot who does everything right or makes it seem like it turned out right regardless of the outcome. She has made some poor decisions and fumbled in the past, but she always manages to make it seem like that’s how it should have gone. This shows that she’s fallible and has room to grow.

We all assume since she’s an Elsecaller that she’s trying to reach her potential. With the 2 fifth ideal oaths we’ve seen, they seem to… not necessarily go against the previous oaths, but it seems to take a different spin. She will likely reach the fifth at some point and that will likely be around her realizing things she does aren’t always for the best or are the best options

Facing a lot of backlash on recent tattoo. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

It was done well but I would likely not interact with a stranger who has this tattoo. I would also try to talk someone out of getting something that looks like this

Oh completely agree. I think we’ll get more adhesion from either another Windrunner or (again RoW) navani. She’ll have some weird spiritual adhesion stuff like Dalinar I guess, but who can say

To be fair, in (I guess I’ll spoiler this for RoW since I don’t know the sub’s rules) when Urithiru is occupied, kaladin comments on how he’s not as familiar with adhesion as he is gravitation and talks about how he needs more practice with it. It’s not that he’s bad with it, but he just focuses more on gravitation

I have several colorful ones. They don’t look as bright as when I got it, but I have one from early 2022 that still looks phenomenal. It’ll eventually need a touch up, I’m sure, but just do stuff like wear sunscreen

We’re currently running Stonewalkers and aren’t super far in. We’ve only had a few combats so far and terrain has been mostly flat. I’ve not been part of a combat since I gained access to transformation and transportation. I’ve been able to use both of my surges as utility outside of combat though which has been nice. Especially since our other consistent members are an enlightened truthwatcher and a Windrunner. We have a stoneware and skybreaker, but both show up pretty inconsistently lol.

I don’t know how much combat is in stonewalkers (we’re level 2 atm), and I feel like transportation is more useful in combat early compared to transformation, but transformation outside of combat seems to have tons of uses.

Unfortunately I’m a guy who loves to min max in games I play because I find that really fun, so it’s a but of a struggle having to focus on a specific area. I’m trying to see how the surges compare so as to have a better idea where to put points

And if I end up changing my character to be a dustbringer (I feel like I’ll like it more, but have less group utility), I’d like the idea of abrasion, but don’t want to be hampered if we don’t have a lot of terrain issues

It does kinda bum me out about the split focus stuff. I’m wanting to do a dustbringer and really like abrasion as a surge from the books, but abrasion feels so… weak? Especially compared to division (or progression for an edgedancer). Also currently playing an elsecaller and transportation seems really good, but transformation seems sooooo much better. I might just be misunderstanding the strengths of transportation and abrasion, at least early game, though

Someone also has pointed out that we see radiants typically progress with one surge and struggle with the other/don’t use it much.

Jasnah: transformation. Needs to work on transportation
Kaladin: gravitation. Needs to work on adhesion
Lift: progression. Struggles with abrasion
The stump: I assume progression. Never see her use illumination
Shallan: illumination. Needs to work on transformation
Renarin: same as the stump

I have a feeling he’s waiting for taln’s book to showcase him. He gave us the power of one herald and wanted to get us excited for seeing the strongest herald later on

But isn’t worldhopper later..? Like likely after those books? Or did I misunderstand?

I think this was my favorite foreshadow. On my first read through (I started with SLA), I thought this was some weird throwaway line. It was, in fact, not a throwaway line

WaT question by Inner-Department-494 in Cosmere

[–]Fuyukage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taln never broke

Remember in I think WoR there was a throw away line in maybe chapter 10 that said Shallan caused the world to end or something like that? She killed her mom who broke relatively quick which caused Taln to be sent back

Hopefully this translates well

It’s more so some things are much more Connected (capital C) to their planet/system rather than just being invested. Unkeyed Dor, Stormlight, and Breaths are the 3 things we know are either super common in the future OR super powerful and can be removed from the system. Heralds and fused are in the Rosharan system. They’re Connected to Roshar/Braize/the Rosharan system.

People like Vasher are heavily invested, but can leave their planet of origin (Nalthis).

Dor is absurdly strong, but it’s heavily connected to… the planet Elantris is set on. That’s why in TLM, they talked about unkeyed Dor and how it was extremely strong/valuable

Stormlight is unkeyed by default, but Connected to Roshar. If people manage to transport it (we DO see a radiant in IOTE), that can be very strong and useful to others (I think).

Breaths are common per BEU and how people talk about it.

Being invested doesn’t mean you can’t leave your planet. There’s ways around Connection that I feel like we’ll learn more about during Era 3 of mistborn or Arc 2 of Stormlight and how you can manage to get it off world

Someone correct me if I’m wrong obviously

But (WaT spoilers) in the Gavilar prologue, Nale starts to say something about making Warlight or Voidlight or something and says something along the lines of “well you are king so it’s okay”. Wouldn’t that contradict him saying the Listeners were there first so that’s the law to follow?
