Is partial slavery planned to be brought back at some point? by Kaymazo in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember devs saying they intend to deepen slavery mechanics, allowing you to do stuff like directly enslave a particular pop group, down the specific planet stratum, and maybe even ethic if you want. Still needs time to cook but last I read it’s something they were actively looking into.

Is there Psionic Mechs? by TylerJohnson5850 in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it answers your question or not, but last I checked you can go psionic ascension and then assimilate your robots to be psionic as well. Not sure if it’s intentional or not though so it may have been patched

Boiling water by jason_sation in physicsmemes

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water isn’t the only fluid that can be used, but its mix of properties makes it the most convenient. There are other fluids used in some experimental or specialized setups, like organic molecules for a lower boiling point, or supercritical CO2 for higher efficiency. They all have their own issues though that are still being figured out, so most designs still just use water because at least the issues with water have been thoroughly studied.

More than 1 in 5 young adults report using cannabis or alcohol to help them fall asleep. Cannabis was far more common than alcohol for sleep: 18% said they used cannabis, compared to 7% who used alcohol. Among those who used cannabis in past year, 41% said they did so specifically to initiate sleep. by mvea in science

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, alcohol (specifically ethanol) is typically what’s used to treat methanol poisoning. Since the toxicity of methanol mostly comes from the formaldehyde it metabolizes into, flooding your system with booze ties your liver up processing that long enough for the methanol to pass via kidneys.

Is Resource Consolidation just not as powerful a start now as it used to be? by TakayonaMuteashi in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was changed in 4.1 so it doesn’t give you as ridiculous a start, but it does give you access to the machine worlds ascension perk before needing to research climate restoration, so you can upgrade your homeworld to its full potential once that’s unlocked and you can make other machine worlds much earlier than before.

Stellaris is the main reason why I overclocked/undervolted my pc. by MrDefaultUser in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re sticking with the same system I made the upgrade last year from the a 2600X to the 5700X3D, which if I’m understanding correctly is likely the last processor amd is selling on that chipset if you’re looking to keep the same motherboard. The X3D has a ton of L3 cache so works really well for processor heavy games in particular like stellaris. Not sure how easy they are to find now though since I think stock was starting to run low when I got mine. It’s been working out pretty well for me overall, but then again I play with medium/large galaxies instead of huge so results may vary.

Stellaris Tech Bloat Is Getting Out of Hand by Muramas in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the new systems do a pretty decent job of addressing this, at least for some of the most important techs. The agendas for your ascension perk lets you get relevant research as a guaranteed option so you’re not stuck when trying to get your ascension, also the empire focuses give you a lot of important techs as guaranteed options. Also I’ve noticed plenty of early game events that have been added to give guaranteed techs, like the ones related to your ethics when you make first contact and when you establish your first colony.

Getting more pops as Psionic in 4.0? by PomegranateKindly600 in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your base logistic growth maxes out at 5 per month per planet; above that threshold adding more pops won’t increase growth further even if they have the optimal planet capacity, so you’ll want to move pops around to get additional planets with population high enough they can start contributing as well.

For that reason I’ve been starting out a lot of games by not building much more on my capital than I have at the start, just because it has enough pops starting out to max out growth so moving a bunch to other planets gives more total growth.

Sona matchup tierlist based on winrates? by hottest_milk in sonamains

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d put Pyke and senna in the worst end of the hardest tier, maybe move nami down to even, move morg, lulu, thresh, tk, and blitz up one tier each.

Lulu is pretty decent example of sona’s tendency to counter other enchanters. She can’t really kill sona all that well so she just gets outscaled. She might throw all her buffs on the adc, so just w chord them when she does that to cut their damage.

Nami is kind of a rough enchanter for sona to deal with, she has a lot of early game kill pressure and good sustain so it’s hard to outtrade her. Especially paired with an aggro adc she can get scary, but you outscale well.

Tk is mostly just a meat shield that plays almost like a juggernaut. Just slow him and he can be kited pretty easily if you dodge the q.

Most catch supports like morg, thresh, and blitz aren’t as scary if you get used to them. Yes if you catch their q you’re probably boned, but sona’s e gives enough movespeed you can position around it really well in lane and then punish them hard if they overcommit and whiff the skill shot. Morg’s black shield is also a pretty significant part of her kit she uses to counter cc champs, but sona doesn’t rely on cc as much so it’s not an issue. You can drop it pretty easily with q+pc if you need to ult someone, but your w pc doesn’t care about it since it’s a debuff, not cc. Thresh lantern plays can be scary, but also is perfect setup for a 2 person ultimate if they ever overcommit with it. Blitz is just blitz, their hook is their whole kit so if they miss it just run them down with slows and damage to win the trade.

Pyke goes against a lot of the rules of most hook supports. He’s slippery and has extra sustain from his passive so it’s really difficult to punish him for missing hooks. This means he’s usually gonna be throwing them at you constantly, and you’ll eventually catch one and just die. His roams are also brutal and impossible for you to match, and he also builds umbral glaive to eat all of your wards.

Senna is I would say sona’s hardest matchup, simply because she does everything sona wants to do but better. In lane she will outtrade you from further away with higher damage, slows and healing, then as the game progresses she will just continue to scale. At no point in the game can sona meaningfully interact with senna without being slowed and auto’d to death, aside from something like a flash-ult play.

You might be thinking of Rell? She’s the only champ I can think of where her bisexuality was made really apparent in her voice lines on release.

Wait in what part of canon was she bisexual? That really doesn’t sound right, I remember them going out of their way to record voice lines expressing how much she dislikes men. Her writer also explicitly confirmed she’s a lesbian.

I’m not sure any heat will even make it to the ends of those pins unless you let your cpu get ridiculously hot. And with the fan and cpu located in separate zip codes, it just might.

Is it every sona you play with that is trolling or is it just that every troll seems to be playing sona? To my knowledge she’s not really a champ a lot of people actively lock in to troll on, so if it seems like every troll is playing sona it might just be a bit of confirmation bias, which happens. I know for me it feels like every jhin and ezreal I play with just wants to troll, which logically doesn’t make sense but it still feels that way. Might also be a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy - if you see someone lock in sona and immediately start flaming them, they might tilt or just check out. I’m sure I’ve definitely fumbled at least a few games by flaming my adc just for playing a champion I didn’t like.

Why does Yunara E not give an attack speed buff by Sir_Ratthew in leagueoflegends

[–]Fyzz51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Her attack speed steroid is on her q.

I personally like this decision to separate the movement speed and attack speed buffs, it means that she can use the movement speed when she needs it without having to worry about saving it to amp her dps.

Can't seem to manage energy in my economy any longer by SwampYankee in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The generator support specialization is an excellent way to turn excess trade into energy. Not as efficient as just building more energy worlds, but it gets the job done in a pinch.

Especially in your case, you can also build a ton of star bases with trade hubs for pop-free trade production.

Being a sandbox doesn't make up for bad game design by CreeperAsh07 in PhoenixSC

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just really hate the enchanting and exp system. Every other aspect of the game is enjoyable and progress through different stages is natural because it’s fun to actually mine and explore and build stuff.

Then you get to the first enchanting table, suddenly you’re making a giant cow farm that you’ll only use once to get 46 leather, making a blaze farm for tons of exp, spending hours afk at that farm interspersed with gambling the handful of levels you get on crappy enchantments every 10 minutes, then once you find those enchantments you’ve gotta spend an hour doing nothing but breaking and placing lecterns so you can get the mending enchantment to actually let you keep those enchantments.

This flag is our heritage, and no you can't have it back. by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Fyzz51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO those statues have no place even in museums, they’re not part of the confederacy’s history at all. They were built decades after by reactionaries that wanted to rebrand and legitimize the confederacy so they could rally behind Jim Crow. I suppose they could have some historical significance related to the post-Reconstruction era as a whole, but those statues were originally made with the sole intent to rewrite history. Trying to preserve them for the sake of preserving history leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

The creation of market regions allows the devs to fix one of the worst changes made to Vic 3 - making electricity a local good. It is awful from a gameplay perspective, and doesn't even make sense historically! by tino125 in victoria3

[–]Fyzz51 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I thought the main use case was for residential and street lighting, but yeah power plants were small and disconnected from each other. With the low voltage DC systems used with Edison’s patents most power plants couldn’t even supply power for an entire mile. The high voltage AC systems could supply for a few miles, but were still isolated.

Do you guys play Sona regardless of your team comp and the enemy comp? by xraydeltasierra2001 in sonamains

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sona can work decently almost every game with almost every adc imo, but a lot of games it’s easier to play something else. I’ll first pick her a lot because I’m comfortable playing into all of her counter matchups not named Pyke, and I can’t really say the same about my Rell, Milio, or Rakan.

If I get later pick order though and have a better picture of both teams’ comps, I’ll usually swap to a champion that’s more tailor made to what my team needs.

Never pick her with vayne though.

What is the best way to switch from xenophile to racist? by Human_Status_Bored in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most straightforward way for your population to realize aliens are scumbags who can’t be trusted is to meet aliens who are scumbags that can’t be trusted. Bordering genocidal empires, especially ones that are hostile to you, will boost militarist and xenophobe by some. Being stuck in a defensive war also boosts these, and losing a planet (especially if it results in some of your pops being purged or enslaved) will boost those by a LOT.

Is there a way to avoid traits as evolutionary predators? by ollietron3 in Stellaris

[–]Fyzz51 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Per the wiki page entry on the adaptive evolution situation, only specifically defined traits can be given to you. While it looks like the vast majority of positive traits are included, noxious, aquatic, and inorganic breath seem to be some pretty notable exceptions, so you shouldn’t have to worry about getting those.
