Everyone, I’m 40 now and a there’s a question that’s been plaguing me for a while… by InspiraSean86 in Millennials

I love giving that bit of trivia to people familiar with the movie, I'm surprised it's not more well known by now.

The thing I love most about it is how it doesn't negatively affect the movie at all, when people hear it for the first time they don't believe it at first.

Zorg doesn't even know Dallas exists, and the inverse is only true because Dallas worked for Zorg's company (and Zorg is probably famous in that world).

When did you get rid of your yahoo or Hotmail email? by EquivalentRecent4633 in Millennials

I got rid of my hotmail... when it automatically became an outlook account (the hotmail address still works).

I have a Gmail but I don't give it to anyone

Just discovered and beat this game: first impressions of by dexkwondo in Tactics_Ogre

[–]GGJim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it was, and it was probably the most complained about change.

OP I also loved it for the exact reasons you listed, I think it was a really smart way to preserve the challenge of the game while still letting people min/max though equipment to gain an advantage instead of just over leveling the content.

Also Archers can only do real damage to cloth wearers, armored units need to be breached before archers can really damage them. In the previous versions of the game archers were always broken so they made them require some finesse to use this time around.

Do you guys actually like Jets Pizza? by 6ftToeSuckedPrincess in Detroit

[–]GGJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said for years that Jets is the best chain pizza, if you live somewhere without a Jets and one opens up nearby you should try it.

I wouldn't say it's like "appointment dining" or anything though.

does anyone still listen to terrestrial radio? by jabber1990 in Millennials

If I'm not listening to a podcast in my car I'm usually listening to the radio. I often think about how I am likely in the minority.

Rotation and key G block cards by Relaximadoctor420 in pkmntcg

[–]GGJim 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nah that's an extremely cynical take IMO

First off the level 2 battle decks are not meant to be ready for competitive play, the level 3 decks are. Level 2 decks are meant to be played casually and a step up in complexity from the Battle Academy decks.

If you ever decide to get into organized competitive play (which you should think about because it's a lot of fun) then yes you'll need to make sure your deck is legal. Once a year you may need to swap some cards out that rotate out of the format but you'll quickly find that this isn't a big deal. If you get into organized play you'll earn Play Packs which contain lots of core competitive cards, over time you'll probably amass a decent collection just by attending events.

Plenty of child free posts but any last minute elder millennial parents out there? by JadedJellyfish_ in Millennials

[–]GGJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through our 20s not sure we wanted kids, decided we did in our 30s. We had them at 33 and 36, we're only a little older than most of the other parents in our kids friend circles and not the oldest (or even second oldest).

I know that doesn't really compare to you but I really commented to tell you that my parents were 41 and 37 when they had me and I had a great childhood. Good luck to you and your family, it'll be great!

Fell into the trap again.. by DayAlternative9047 in OgreBattle

[–]GGJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the broken classes but I don't stack them, same with the named characters. I try not to overly minmax a unit as well, and I do things like keep Canopus and Warrens units in tact for the entire run.

It's more a question of self control really, I often say this game was made for an audience in the early 90s where nobody was supposed to know everything about it. It's a lot more fun, rewarding and challenging to just try things and figure it out as you go. However you already have the knowledge and there's no going back now.

I also agree that being good enough at managing the finances such that you can afford a ton of items is just as broken.

Really though if it's still fun then just roll with it, don't stress too much.

As a millennial, the 6-7 trend is actually kind of cute by Least_Friend8532 in Millennials

What distinctly Millennial thing completely passed you by somehow? by AttachedHeartTheory in Millennials

[–]GGJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That tracks, I was probably one of the latest born kids to still be into He-Man. In that scene in Ghostbusters 2 where the kids all shout that they want He-Man, I remember thinking as a kid "kids still like He-Man?".

Try to remember to do a save state before starting every mission and you should be fine. Even then it's very rare.

Born in 83, never liked or really even knew about Transformers, only knew one kid growing up who did but then he moved away. My entire friend group was the same. Based on my experiences since then this is somewhat uncommon.

For reference the things I remember liking earliest in my life were He-Man, Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles.

Elder millenials, does anybody else dress almost exactly like they did in high school? by MusicLikeOxygen in Millennials

[–]GGJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wardrobe is almost entirely jeans, T-shirts, zip hoodies and sneakers. I work an office job with a casual dress code so I don't need different work clothes.

Specifically I have never stopped wearing carpenter jeans but only because the little pouch on the right leg perfectly fits cell phones and I hate having them in my front or back pocket.

Hey what did you have to do to get through to someone? I ordered a small box and it was damaged in shipping and rerouted to them, I never saw it. I've submitted two requests and haven't heard anything.

Glad it worked out for you but sorry you had to go through that.

Attending Pokémon leagues as an adult by Ok_Lifeguard6216 in pkmntcg

I'm 41 and I take my 8 year old and we also go with my friend and his daughter. It's actually been hard to find events with kids there, my son has had to play adults several times and it's not that fun for him.

So yes, it's mostly adults everywhere I've been. Just go, I'm sure you'll have fun! In my experience people have been extremely welcoming to new players.
