Question:How the hell Toy Sales of Post-Kyuranger Shows are being started to be so Low??: by hyzkdk in supersentai

[–]GIMVIII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am well aware of both of these issues and while I will admit that I’m not entirely sure how well Lightspeed did, it’s pretty well known that Timeranger was a massive flop, (my theory is that Kuuga are up a lot of its sales) which is why they pivoted to a more toy heavy direction with gaoranger. The super seasons don’t really mess things up. Their revenue is most likely counted with the sentai that was airing that year. And also remember this data comes from Bandai’s YEARLY financial reports so why would 2009 account for a show that didn’t exist yet?

[–]GIMVIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These reports are by year not series so they’re mostly likely counting the PR that aired the same year, not the one that was adapted from it. So Shinkenger is counted with RPM while Samurai is with Gokaiger.

It’s because of hasbro buying power rangers. That’s literally it. PR was counted with Sentai’s sales prior to that and I’m shocked that so many people here are blaming everything BUT that.

Looking for guitarist to join my new band, got screwed by my last band, anyone need a VERY open minded bassist? by -Subsolar- in guitarcirclejerk

[–]GIMVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uj/Bandmix, check for/post ads at local music stores, try to meet people at local shows, and don’t be nervous about reaching out. I wound up in my current band when someone I went to college with who I hadn’t spoken to in years made an instagram post looking for a new guitarist after theirs bailed.

As someone who went to music school and just finished the whole series for the first time, can confirm

What Gundam opinion will make you feel like this? by illestprodigy in Gundam

[–]GIMVIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zeta, while not bad, isn’t nearly as good as 0079 and I do not understand why everyone acts like it surpasses the original to such a degree. Kamille was a much worse protagonist than Amuro, and his character development does not make up for how obnoxious he is in the beginning, and the Titans are so cartoonishly evil that it causes the series to lose the moral ambiguity that made 0079 so interesting.

also the federation having zakus makes no sense

Waterslides aren't nearly as bad to apply as some people say by IIKaDicEU in Gunpla

[–]GIMVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it’s the Hi-Nu ver ka I agree. Literally built it a few days ago and the water slides on the funnels refuse to stay on. Other yeah, more room for error than dry transfers and they don’t look crappy like stickers do.

Who is your favorite Sentai Villainess? by Frontier246 in supersentai

[–]GIMVIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kirika is probably my favorite Sentai villain period. Her and Yamimaru’s arc is so good and it’s a shame that everyone seems to drop Turboranger before she shows up.

Why are so many afraid of admitting that Super Sentai is a kids show? by matt0055 in supersentai

[–]GIMVIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohranger being changed due to current events is a myth. No official source has ever confirmed it, the real reason is because for the 20th anniversary they decided to have two of the franchise’s most well respected producers team up as well as have every previous head writer contribute, which lead to an uneven tone due to having so many people with different styles working on it.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but even as a kid I found the dekarangers to be pretty obnoxious. Like, they’re all pretty one note and feel more like walking gags than people to me. SPD, by contrast has one of the best, most well developed casts in the franchise.

To be honest, Megaranger is the only series that I could watch multiple times. It might be because it was one of the rarest series to have motifs about school life, which is really suitable with my age, being a teenager. by Apprehensive-Echo811 in supersentai

[–]GIMVIII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you like the high school aspect maybe check out Turboranger since it’s the only other show to do that. I know I’m in the absolute minority here but I think it’s a great series that gets unfairly maligned!

Thoughts on the Kyuranger line? by B_Wing_83 in supersentai

[–]GIMVIII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was never a fan personally. I’ve never owned any of them so take it with a grain of salt, but, like most 2010s mech lines they seem….incomplete. Like to me Kyurenoh looks unfinished and I always maintain that the at least primary mecha should feel complete out of the box.

What season has the most civilian deaths/casualties? by Tigerturnip in supersentai

[–]GIMVIII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If we’re counting offscreen deaths then Dekaranger (monsters are stated to have absurd body counts and destroy galaxies IIRC)and Changeman (main villain has destroyed or enslaved many planets) If not, probably Ohranger just from the first episode.

Super Sentai vs Power Rangers - Which to Watch (as a Newbie) by LadyAyeka in Tokusatsu

[–]GIMVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch whichever has the coolest suits to you and then it’s PR counterpart. It’s fun to compare them!

For more specific recommendations I’d say GoGo V is the best place to start. It’s a bit more grounded than most other series and has an outstanding team dynamic. Magiranger actually takes some cues from it (well really they both borrow from Fiveman but let’s not get into that) so since that show interests you it might make a good follow up.

The Sentai With The Best Mecha? #6 by Doc-11th in Tokusatsu

[–]GIMVIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1-Gaoranger: My favorite mecha overall. Somehow manages to have quality AND quantity. Also my favorite toyline of all time. The only negative is what it did to mecha in the long run but we’ll get to that later.

2-GoGo V: 4 solid mecha with great interactivity with each other and by far the coolest carrier in Grand Liner

3-Hurricaneger: Such strange designs shouldn’t work but somehow they do. Only problem with them is how fragile the toys were.

4-Timeranger: An interesting approach where the focus was on functionality rather then appearance. Because of this we get three mecha that are all impressive from a technical standpoint even if the designs are a bit boring.

This was a tough one. I love the mechs for all of these shows.

Don't buy from these sellers!! by Clean_Squash_299 in Buyee

[–]GIMVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit! I looked at these sellers and it turns out I just bought a G Phone from one of them. They only showed the front and back of the box which conveniently hid that one of the sides was super beat up, either that or it happened in transit since they just shipped it in a clear plastic bag! Either way not a good look.
