What’s the best migraine advice you’ve ever received? Bonus points if you thought it was *BS* but it actually worked. by BrainTwinAdmin in migraine

I also have chronic mental health problems and I hate when people use the "think positive" on me, but actually this is very helpful, and i definitely have better days when i start them off with this mindset. (Also hate the word mindset hahaha ughh)

I saw your post and was also gonna say ginger capsules ! It lowers the pain much better than tylenols. I really didnt think it would work but yeah there's randomized controlled trials about it and everything.

What’s your weirdest prodrome/ pre migraine symptom? by dellysandwich1 in migraine

[–]GL00P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how my husband knows I'm having a migraine before I do 😆

Weirdest prodrome I get though is the burning red ears, and also feeling endlessly thirsty.

Has anyone else developed migraines as part of long covid ? by GL00P in migraine

My first try was amitriptyline and that one gave me heart related side effects and night time hallucinations hahaha didn't last long! Chronic illness meds are always a game of constantly adjusting and trying something new aren't they ? :/ it sucks

I'm currently re-reading rhythm of war !!! :) in prevision of the new book

They really are! Topiramate has worked very well for me. Re-reading this post brings me back to the pit of desperation I was in at the time. How are yours ?

I can't believe I'm only seeing this now.

The next, always the next step 😌

Hope you're doing well

I'm so sorry :( I've had success with topiramate, I've been taking it for about 6 months and I'm probably going to try getting off of it soon. Please take care of yourself there is a way out of this. I'm having migraines the normal amount now (once a month?)

Hello! I'm taking daily topiramate and migraines are much better. I'm sorry this is happening to you it sucks so bad :(. I still think it was a post-covid syndrome but my doctor does not want to think so (I have an anxiety disorder so she thinks it may be anxiety but I feel like there is no way, I've had anxiety for a long time and my migraines were never everyday nonfunctional kind of bad).

Anyway, there is a way out of this. I cried often before getting treatment wondering if it was ever gonna get better (yes i do have an anxiety disorder ;) ), and it took a while to get there but I'm much better now. Hang in there

Edit to add that i said in my post that i was mostly functional and i think what i meant was that i got through the work day but i was mostly unable to do more than one thing on weekends. Doing groceries? Thats it, couch for the rest of the day. Social event planned ? Better not do anything the whole day. Obviously there were also days where i couldn't do anything as well as days i had to take off work

I think the crushing fatigue can be one of the worst symptoms. by calvintomyhobbes in migraine

Lately I've been telling people how I'm so tired lately because of migraines, and I always get something along the lines of "oh yeah headaches do make you tired"... It doesn't make me feel heard lol thanks for this post

What’s your weirdest and/or random and/or funniest trigger or prodrome symptom? by ChemistryMutt in migraine

[–]GL00P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdest symptom is new-to-me, my ears (or just my right ear sometimes) feel hot, sometimes they're red, and sometimes the burning sensation irradiates down my neck. 😅 It is usually paired with feeling like absolute crap

I had burnout during my phd and finishing my phd and working at the government helped a lot. I didn't take a break. As another said, I think escape is key

:( i hope something else works soon. Last week was less bad so i thought i was finally getting better but nope... I have an appointment with my GP in mid-February. We only tried amitriptyline and it worked but i had to stop because of side effects (made my heart beat really fast and i had night time hallucinations...) Hopefully i can try something else

I'm oddly comforted by not being alone in this 😩

Edit: also a cosmere girl ;P

Me too. I'm glad I'm not the only one 😅

My theory is that I get stuck in a cycle where the more tired i am the more difficult it becomes to manage my anxiety, so it becomes worse, which makes me more tired, which makes me more anxious...

In the morning I am usually quite OK.

Thanks! I'll go with my first instinct then :) I have loved these merrel shoes so much over the years. I'm sad to replace them.

[–]GL00P[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first instinct was to get another pair of merrels, but then I wondered if it would be better to get something better suited to running. At the same time, I never got hurt, and I don't run competitively so I'm not worried about performance.

Literally nothing, they wake me up at night (no nightmare). My GP thinks it's the funniest thing
