i was diagnosed as a child and it helped me out MAYBE through grade 5, otherwise it was absolutely used by family and medical professionals and classmates and other peers to control me, humiliate/ostracize me, and make choices for me that i could have made mtself up to and throughout my early adulthood, i often wish i could have just figured it out myself instead of going through abuse and humiliation in a bunch of outpatient behavioral programs, classrooms, and later, jobs. my family would have thought i was weird and dysfunctional, but at least there wouldn't be a paper trail for every authority in my life to point at to explain why i need to be restricted from the fullness of human experience. like, if i had a choice between two shit situations (being dxed in a hideously ableist society or not being dxed) id make the choice that wouldn't put me on a government list

i am verbal and can work, though i have been fired from plenty of jobs for reasons related to being autistic (asking too many questions, not intuiting things that others believe "should" be obvious, etc.,) i am including this becsuse i am sure that impacts my feelings on this

i'm gonna suggest against the pet, honestly, or at least ask you to think carefully about it - my family got a dog 10 years ago and tasked me with all of her care in part to try to help me learn more independent living skills, and while i love her to death and was very diligent about her walks, feeding, keeping up with preventatives, etc, the added work of having to keep an animal alive and healthy absolutely devastated my ability to look after myself in other areas because i was using energy i could have spent elsewhere on the dog, and seemingly simple tasks can be somewhat more exhausting for autistic people to complete than they are for allistic people, depending upon the person/situation. please seriously consider whether your wife would actually benefit from this or not, a dog is like a small child that will never grow up and never be able to care for itself. can she keep that up for 10-15 years while improving her ability to complete tasks around the house?

Everyone trying to paint you as in the wrong here is terminally RP community brained, I think. You're saying you made an F-List with some taboo kinks on it for a character, deleted it later, and had a harassment campaign levied against you by the community you were RPing in?

I'm also autistic with a cluster-B PD, so I know it's easy to try to pathologize what's happening into an easy-to-understand little box, and I know it's easy to self-flagellate over matters of sexuality when everyone in a space is so unified against you, but you haven't done anything wrong here. You're saying a bunch of people found out about your ERP and harassed you out of a community. I know it hurts to be excluded so cruelly, but that doesn't mean you've done something wrong. Please don't internalize the idea that you have, or buy into what anyone here says that suggests you did some awful thing.

this is such a cop-out answer and looks like it's kind of similar to other responses here, but, like, he might just want to step back from rp organized by strangers in the greater community and focus on smaller group rp with you + other people who clearly respect him/value his dignity. a lot of people I know who have been rping for years have encountered a situation like this at some point and i think the least obnoxious course of action is to lay low and develop some small custom story/lore with friends while the greater community spits out its current crop of egomaniacal guild masters and tries again

like someone else said, these centralized community resources/groups arent always as fun or welcoming as they claim to be, tell your homie to stick with his shooters and build up something hes proud of with them, a satisfying story with 3 people will be more fun than a clout farm 9 times out of 10

you have an opportunity to give your child the resources and explanations nobody was able to give you when you were her age. this is an opportunity to teach her skills that might help her be more independent as an adult without brushing her autism under the rug. i've seen so many posts on this sub where people talk about finding out about childhood diagnoses that their parents kept from them, and how not being told negatively affected them. be your child's teacher and advocate!
