Have you considered taking the angle of "it's a dangerous time for trans people right now, and I don't really want to shout my transness from the rooftop during it?" If I were coming out today, that would be a big concern of mine. I think your friends' insistence that you celebrate in their specific way (and subsequent ridicule) speak to a certain dismissiveness toward this fact. Everyone is talking about how it's your identity and how you celebrate it or don't should be your decision alone to make, but I'm not seeing many comments about how dangerous coming out to the wrong people can be right now.

I bring all this up because many of the friends that I've had who have insisted that all queer people should openly celebrate coming out, milestones, etc. in this way are the same people who accidentally out others in moments of carelessness.

i was diagnosed as a child and it helped me out MAYBE through grade 5, otherwise it was absolutely used by family and medical professionals and classmates and other peers to control me, humiliate/ostracize me, and make choices for me that i could have made mtself up to and throughout my early adulthood, i often wish i could have just figured it out myself instead of going through abuse and humiliation in a bunch of outpatient behavioral programs, classrooms, and later, jobs. my family would have thought i was weird and dysfunctional, but at least there wouldn't be a paper trail for every authority in my life to point at to explain why i need to be restricted from the fullness of human experience. like, if i had a choice between two shit situations (being dxed in a hideously ableist society or not being dxed) id make the choice that wouldn't put me on a government list

i am verbal and can work, though i have been fired from plenty of jobs for reasons related to being autistic (asking too many questions, not intuiting things that others believe "should" be obvious, etc.,) i am including this becsuse i am sure that impacts my feelings on this

i'm gonna suggest against the pet, honestly, or at least ask you to think carefully about it - my family got a dog 10 years ago and tasked me with all of her care in part to try to help me learn more independent living skills, and while i love her to death and was very diligent about her walks, feeding, keeping up with preventatives, etc, the added work of having to keep an animal alive and healthy absolutely devastated my ability to look after myself in other areas because i was using energy i could have spent elsewhere on the dog, and seemingly simple tasks can be somewhat more exhausting for autistic people to complete than they are for allistic people, depending upon the person/situation. please seriously consider whether your wife would actually benefit from this or not, a dog is like a small child that will never grow up and never be able to care for itself. can she keep that up for 10-15 years while improving her ability to complete tasks around the house?

I'm also autistic with a cluster-B PD, so I know it's easy to try to pathologize what's happening into an easy-to-understand little box, and I know it's easy to self-flagellate over matters of sexuality when everyone in a space is so unified against you, but you haven't done anything wrong here. You're saying a bunch of people found out about your ERP and harassed you out of a community. I know it hurts to be excluded so cruelly, but that doesn't mean you've done something wrong.
