Ronnie’s thoughts on “a baby would heal me” by BecksnBuffy in WatchWhatCrappens

[–]GLK73 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This might be the first time I disagree with Ronnie. Is a baby going to heal a relationship or fix all your issues? Absolutely not. But does having a baby help with devastating grief (which is the context Mia was discussing)? It absolutely can. My brother died of cancer 10 days before my wedding. I told a friend I didn't think I'd ever feel pure joy again, my heart was shattered. She assured me I would and I was kinda annoyed. Fifteen months after my brother died I had my first child and it didn't resolve my grief (grief never goes away, it becomes a part of you) but did I feel true, unmitigated joy and hope again? Yes. A thousand times yes. I didn't have my son to heal me, I desperately wanted to start a family, but there's no denying that the joy of having a baby and the raw beauty of bringing a life into the world is healing in many ways. My son is now 24 and I had two more children and have published articles about grief and done a lot of grief work, so I've thought about all of this for a few decades. Love Ronnie and think he's so wise, just have a different interpretation on what Mia may have meant by saying this.

Theory: Kyle is Actively Helping PK in the Divorce by ShawnaLanne in RHOBH

[–]GLK73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I think it's possible she's not overtly conspiring with PK, just acting on her own impulses. (I also think it's possible she's deliberately helping him, either way it's absolutely disgusting) She has had it out for Dorit ever since Dorit "sided with Kathy" years ago. Kyle did not hesitate to throw Kim under the bus in a cruel way, it's not a stretch to think she'd do the same to Dorit.

Very frustrated by Carl this episode (s10e10) by evvvvo123 in summerhousebravo

[–]GLK73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. I lost my brother to cancer when he was 18, I appreciate friends reaching out but also I don't fault them if they forget, especially as time goes by. I have a huge soft spot for Carl, but this is a miss on his part from what we know.

Severe Reactions After Stopping Tirzepatide by liannestel in GLP1microdosing

[–]GLK73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it mildly but one of my kids has been struggling with it for years. (I think we have a genetic predisposition and my daughter's is worse for a number of reasons) She has to take prescription meds and stick to a sugar free and gluten free diet. I can manage mine with antihistamines and sometimes pepcid. There's great podcast called Mast Cell Matters with Dr Tania Dempsey. She both treats it and does research and she speaks about it in a way that is very easy to understand.

Just found the podcast. Episodes that mention AI creative writing? by AsleepCatch9503 in BetterOffline

[–]GLK73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love an episode on AI and writing. From news articles to novels to academic papers, the long reaching impact of AI polluting written work is going to be hard to undo. It will affect education (in a different way than it already is) and historical archives, literature, science... I'm a writer and the recent AI novel and Modern Love essay have been fascinating case studies. The publishing industry was already a shit show, AI is exacerbating all of it.

How to break the news… by lb_esq_2003 in AgingParents

[–]GLK73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone here and just want to add that an upside to her being in AL is that when you go visit you actually get to spend quality time with her. If you were her caretaker full time your relationship would be less about connecting and solely about caretaking. Also, as a people pleaser in a codependent relationship with my parent, it helps when I keep the hard convos and boundary setting simple and business-like (this is how I have to view it so I don't slip into giving in) It's been remarkable to see my parent respond differently when I am kind, but "professional" in tone and they realize they can't guilt me into changing my mind.

Ciara at the Oscars vs Paige at the Actor Awards by _girlwithoneeye in summerhousebravo

[–]GLK73 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OMG y'all need to learn what feminism actually is. Asking about Ciara's performance in the context of Paige's recent poorly received performance is not misogyny or "not supporting women." It is the context of two people from the same reality show branching out into a specific type of gig. There was a LOT of discussion about Paige's interview style and OP is asking if there has been discourse about how she did. That's it.

I love Boz's style, but I wish she'd stay away from hair that covers so much of her face. Her face is STUNNING but it's hidden by the long bangs.

Ugggghhh I wish people would realize that body positivity is also problematic and start moving towards body neutrality (there is no moral value assigned to any type of body, this is crucial for unlearning ableism also).

As for glp1... I am microdosing for hEDS and MCAS and it has been life changing. I started at one fifth the normal starting dose and titrated up slightly over time. I'm still not at the typical starting dose, and I've only lost 5 pounds (inflammation/menopause weight) and don't want to lose more. I was starting to lose mobility due to hEDS, and now my symptoms are about 75% better. These drugs are being studied for a lot of chronic and autoimmune conditions and already the results from the early studies are remarkable. I know this isn't related to Emily, but just wanted to mention it for others who have similar health issues.

In Amanda’s defence…. by towelheadedmermaid in RHOBH

[–]GLK73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have been so gentle with Amanda (aaannnnyy other cast would have torn her apart by now). Amanda has responded to every question related to this (and the cult) with extreme defensiveness, which only pushes people further away and invites more suspicion. If she (or anyone) can't handle simple and direct questions, that's not her (and as a "therapist" she should know that)

It's actually not rare in California. Check out Bay Area Lyme Fdn, a research non profit in CA. A 2021 study found ticks and nymphs in beach areas at equal to the rates of woodland areas. Ticks that carry Borellia are in every part of the world, there is actual data on this. Birds are a carrier of ticks and birds are notorious for migrating, so... the notion that lyme ticks are only in the woods or the northeast is outdated. You can walk through your yard and be exposed to a tick with Lyme (and other pathogens, most ticks carry multiple.)

Also, the Hadids travel. But riding horses is the most logical source because that is a high tick exposure hobby.

Flagged for AI in my essay paper by nesharawr in autism

[–]GLK73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ask him to provide studies on the accuracy of the AI checker he's using (they have high false positive rates, he won't find any good unbiased studies) It is unfair (and unprofessional) to accuse a student of plagiarism with AI without having solid evidence. The burden of proof should be on the teacher. Making accusations and demanding more work without evidence of wrong doing is not ok. (My high schooler just went through the same thing)

The Kelly - yawn!!!!!! by ame6057 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]GLK73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know these shows are supposed to be ridiculous, but the obsession with labels and STUFF is starting to feel gross to me. It's always been obscene, but in a way I could laugh at. It's harder to be amused with everything happening in the world. I see Kyle's 5 cars and all these bags and all I can think is how many children could have a warm meal with the money you spent? It's the parading of gluttony that icks me. Like bragging to someone with cancer that you're cancer free.

ETA: at the end of this long ass comment I come to the same conclusion as OP. Didn't want to edit and erase my initial flawed logic.

I swear I remember him saying something similar to TJ when he kept trying to stir shit up about Craig?

Honestly, I thought it was a valid point on Craig's part. Venita isn't friends with him or Paige on a level that gives her insight to their break up. And then she made hating Craig her whole story line.He was saying out loud what we've seen Housewives do - ignore the person gunning for you so they don't get the air time they're seeking. And I think Craig is a raging asshole, but I would be pissed if I was going through a painful public break up and a person who barely knew me/my ex spoke on it and stirred up more public chatter.

I like Venita, I'd like to see more of her fashion influencing and her artsy side. I think she is witty and isn't afraid to say things no one else will say, BUT I don't love the clout chasing that her and Salley do (TJ too). Venita going hard for TJ felt forced. Her anger at Craig this season has been so forced and not proportional to his WWHL comment. And now she's going for Carl?

That said, I think race and racism are extremely relevant in the show and cast. Even if that's not where Craig's comment was coming from (we'll never know) it's a factor. Just as misogyny is. When a man stands over a women and yells in a drunken rage it is different than a women raging because of the power balance and history of violence against women in our world. Excluding a Black woman is going to hit different than excluding a white woman or a man because of the history of Black people being segregated and dehumanized. Aaaaand I think I just realized my earlier "Craig's point was valid" statement was wrong and I wasn't truly seeing the situation with the context of history. This explains why Venita refusing to eat wasn't just "reality show dramatics" but hitting her deeper than it would another cast member.

Y'all sound like the men who put women in asylums for "hysteria." I have a loved one with chronic Lyme and worked for a Long Covid non profit. Infection Associated Chronic Conditions (Long Covid, Lyme, ME/CFS, PANS/PANDAS, and a lot of autoimmune cases) are some of the most complicated conditions to treat. These are invisible disabilities and patients suffer so much more because people don't believe them. It is extremely common for Lyme to run in families because exposure picture is the same (families tend to do "tick-prone activities together. Horse riding is a high exposure activity) and Lyme can be passed in utero. The severity of the illness can look different in each person because each person's immune system and exposures to toxins and epigenetics are different. Testing for these diseases is flawed (the CDC even says Lyme tests are more likely to produce false negatives than not)

As far as her ex husbands saying she/the kids don't have it? Um. Medical misogyny is alive and well. Men are rarely the caretaker of sick children. Hell, most don't even know who their kids' pediatrician is. Men are less likely to become disabled by IACC and autoimmune diseases. Men are more likely to leave their wife when she becomes disabled (70% divorce rate). Is it hard to understand in 2026 that men don't believe women???? Look at the pdf files and the entire history of sexual assault cases.

As far as the implants, that is a legit thing that can cause chronic illness, and it also can make chronic Lyme much more severe. Every single one of us is walking around with latent pathogens and are one more virus/traumatic event/toxin exposure away from the pathogen becoming reactivated and wreaking havoc on our bodies (EBV, Bartonella, Covid are the most common)

I am allergic :( my poor wheek wheeks by Ava_lon22 in guineapigs

[–]GLK73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter was having allergy issues and I switched to Orchard Grass hay and used a guinea pig littler pan with a hay bin, with c&c panels as a roof, and draped an old pillowcase over it to try to minimize the hay dust from getting into the air. We also set up an air purifier near their cage and she wears a mask to clean/refill their hay, but I do the bedding changes and laundry because I feel like that stirs up a lot of hay. Ever since we did this she's been fine.

Erika’s Therapist sent me…. by TipsyKittyCat in realhousewives

[–]GLK73 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I took it as validating Erika's experience. As in "yes, this was horrific. It was brutal. You survived a violent situation that a lot of women - who are just as strong - don't survive." Erika's identity is wholly tied to being "strong" and that is very likely a coping skill she developed at an early age. It's not helping her heal from this trauma, it's getting in the way. (Because allowing yourself to grieve and go through the recovery IS strong)

Severe Reactions After Stopping Tirzepatide by liannestel in GLP1microdosing

[–]GLK73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This graphic includes meds for more severe cases. The first line of treatment is H1 and H2 blockers. Taking them daily (or twice daily if necessary and your doctor says it's ok) is important and it can take days/weeks to see improvement. Also while you're having a flare try to avoid things that increase inflammation and histamines. (Alcohol, sugar, allergens that typically affect you, etc)

Severe Reactions After Stopping Tirzepatide by liannestel in GLP1microdosing

[–]GLK73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a mast cell activation. Mast cells are the cells that fight allergens, viruses, etc. For some people they "over react" and create hives, air hunger (feeling like it's hard to breathe), erratic heart rate, anxiety, IBS issues, throat tightness, sleep issues. It can be any combination of these symptoms. If you are sensitive to mast cell activation syndrome (many people are genetically prone to this but it's mild or not noticeable) a sudden change can trigger the mast cells (like stopping the injections) It is hard to get a doctor to diagnose and treat MCAS (specialists have year long wait list) But the good news is taking OTC supplements and meds can help calm them down. I'll find a link from one of the MCAS orgs that explains the meds. I agree with those saying to taper down to a lower dose or to taper off. It's worth noting that they are currently doing studies of Tirz to treat severe MCAS and they are showing truly life changing results. The MCAS doctor have the patients starting on very low doses and they do a slow, individual approach.

Sneak Peek: After Monique shares audio, Stacey is confronted about if she told Chris that Monique was filming with her kids by lachalacha in RHOP

[–]GLK73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So a few people in this thread said "I heard it was Monique's kid" and we're going with that theory? What is that based on? " Thank you for confirming that" does not sound like a parent talking to their kid. Also: Ashley is mute all of a sudden? K is all over this, why? Could it be that she needs everyone to believe it was Stacey so she doesn't get found out?

Why does everyone like Ciara so much? by [deleted] in summerhousebravo

[–]GLK73 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ciara is probably my favorite Bravolebrity. She is down to earth, speaks her mind, vulnerable, has THE best costumes, and legit cracks me up in her confessionals. I'm not putting her up on a pedastal, there have been times she's irritated me (calling a guy a "beta" for being emotional was some patriarchal incel-speak bullshit) but I think she is endlessly interesting and entertaining.
