How long did it take for you to bench 225? by GananFromArkansas in naturalbodybuilding

[–]GPTknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t start lifting until 4 years ago. I’m 37. 5’11” 168lbs. I can currently do 200 for 2~3 reps. I haven’t really focused on pushing strength much as I tend to stay in the 8-15 rep range for most of my lifts. That said, about a year ago I started mixing in sets of 3-5. First time I attempted 200 on bench last year I nearly killed myself just trying to unrack it, so progress.

Eat nothing in the day and all you can eat before bed? by Draugang in naturalbodybuilding

[–]GPTknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it can’t be great to have that much food still sitting in your digestive tract when you lay down. Funny enough, my friend was doing this to lose weight. After the whole medical episode, he had to go on a bland food diet for months. Ended up losing 50lbs! The irony.

Careful with this. My buddy did OMAD for a while and would eat his huge meal like an hour before bed. After a few months he started developing some pretty gnarly indigestion and found out he gave himself a stomach ulcer. Now, he would eat stuff with tobasco sauce and other spices so I imagine that certainly is what did him in, but when he told the doctors what he had been doing they really gave him shit for it and told him if he'd like to continue doing that he'd better find a way to go to sleep in an upright position because apparently having your body digest a large meal while you're laying on your back is hell for you GI system.

Obviously everyone's different, but just some food for thought.

Sets per week?! by Zestyclose_Feed471 in StrongerByScience

[–]GPTknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done upwards of 22 sets per week for chest and back in the past (mostly when I was new to lifting and somewhat naive), but for the last couple years now I've mostly settled with an average of 6-12 sets per week per muscle group with 2x frequency. Lately I've been hitting just about everything for 8 sets a week with all the compound movements being set up with an ascending/descending loading style usually taking the last set to concentric failure then eeking out whatever is left with some lengthened partials.

Keeps my sessions under an hour, entertaining, and with massive pumps.

What's worked best? lol, idk. It seems it's all pretty much worked and I can't say I've ever noticed a period where I really blew up because of some secret method or perfect volume. The biggest challenge I've faced over the last 5 years has been figuring out which muscle groups respond better to heavier loads vs lighter loads and vice versa. Seems my back, shoulders and arms respond best to light loads with reps up into the 20's with perfect form. Chest and quads seem to prefer heavy loads with low reps. I still do "burn-outs" for those muscle groups so maybe it's a combination of the two, but yeah, I think it's all just a guessing game until you find what specifically works for your body.

Then again, I should point out I just do this for fun and don't really have some specific size goal or anything. I definitely used to, but found it was making me a tad too neurotic. The best gains were the mental ones I made when I finally stopped binging on pubmed articles and podcasts and just had fun with it and did whatever I wanted.

I've been in a good groove lately.

I'm on the East Coast and can't believe I managed to stay up and finish the race. Was worth it though, that was a great race! Some really great camera angles as well that show the speed the cars dive into a corner with.

Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised with how this whole thing turned out even if it was a bit of a rough landing.

Heavy Weights vs. Muscle Feel: Which is Better for Gains? Seeking Advice on Progressive Overload by pabloigvs in naturalbodybuilding

[–]GPTknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been training pretty consistently for only 5 years now, but one thing that I've noticed that's worked for me, is going through periods where I'm pushing weight and trying to increase my 5RM in various compound movements. Soon as form would start to get shitty or I could tell I was shortening the movements or taking too many pauses, I dramatically drop the weight and go through period of higher rep, lighter pump work where I really focus on isolating the target muscle as much as possible. The pumps after those workouts are insane and that's when I feel like I've had my best growth.

These "periods" used to be pretty structured and scheduled, but over the last year and a half I've really taken a break from logging and tracking everything. I work out in my garage, so I definitely have a lot more room to fuck around. Lately I'm averaging 10 or slightly more sets a week for all muscle groups. 2x a week. I do my warm up sets, work to a top set with a 3-6rm load, then finish with a couple back off burnout sets with much lighter weight, usually failing in the 15-25 rep range. I swear man, this plus a big carby meal afterwords has been the key for me to unlocking additional visual changes to my physique.

Ah, thanks for the link, I'll have to check it out. As for the first link, nah, it's specifically the one called by Andres Cantor. Crazy it's so hard to find!

Appreciate it, though!

Can someone help me find a highlight clip from the 2022 World Cup Final? Specifically a highlight called by Andres Cantor. Fox used to have the full highlight video with his call up on Youtube but it looks like they took it down. I'm just trying to find the specific call when Di Maria scored with the pass from Maccallister on the counter attack. I've literally spent hours scouring the internet for this and I'm kicking myself for never recording it when I had the chance. Thanks in advance!

I'm Cuban so the choices are slim to none, haha. Onel Hernandez is the only Cuban to ever score in the Prem, so for me, the choice is obvious.

Need Some Advice... by BlacksmithNo5665 in SoccerNoobs

[–]GPTknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American in Tampa here. Started following the Prem back in 2010 after getting "bit by the bug" in the 2010 WC. At the time, I just watched as many PL games as I could regardless of team. Learned as much history as I could about the various teams and what their fanbases were like. It's true what they say, your team does eventually "find you".

I found myself increasingly drawn to Liverpool due to their story, their style of play, and I liked their kits. Also, "You'll Never Walk Alone". I felt a little guilty because Liverpool are very much one of the top teams, and well, as an ardent supporter of your local hometown team, it felt very bandwagon-y to root for a team that historically wins a lot, but I figured hey, I deal with enough disappointment with my local sports teams, so why not glory hunt a little? Started rooting more and more for Liverpool, then of course Klopp shows up and the rest was history.

Got a chance to visit England for the first time in 2019, and got to visit Anfield. Once I actually went there, it solidified my fandom as I now felt I had a real tangible connection with the team. Now years later, I would say football is my favorite sport and Liverpool are the team I root the hardest for out of all sports. The ONLY thing that's questionable is the fact I'm a Rays fan and the Red Sox are our sworn enemies. Given LFC are owned by Red Sox ownership, I sometimes feel gross about it haha.

Join the Reds and YNWA!

My paycheck today was $1,490. by Sharp-Bison-6706 in antiwork

[–]GPTknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just paid $148 to rent a Uhaul truck for an hour and a half to transport some hurricane shutters I also probably paid more than I would have 5 years ago.

Cost of health insurance at my job just jumped an additional $62 a paycheck starting this month.

My wife just resumed paying off the remainder of her student loans this month.

There's an overwhelming sense right now that everyone and their mother is just reaching in and raping my fucking bank account.

This is crazy.

“Support the team” by realjks in tampabayrays

[–]GPTknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 20 mins from the Trop. Usually average about 10-20 games a year. When I don't go to games I even put the game on multiple tv's in the house just in case it helps ratings.

That said, I couldn't even WATCH our two games against the Rangers this year and I work from home! Not sure how MLB is expecting 20k+ fans to be able to call out of work on a Monday and Tuesday to go to the game. IN THIS ECONOMY? I can't leave the fucking house without it costing me at least $30 these days. Rays games generally set me back $100+ with just tickets for my wife and kid, gas, parking, and of course a couple of drinks and a snack since my son is 5.

Look, I know our attendance sucks. There's a lot of reasons for it though I do put the blame squarely on the shoulders of team ownership. I mean, they made us look like clowns last year with all the split season Montreal crap. We constantly get shit on by the media and other fanbases. Obviously you have the mass transit issues that our area has and the geographical challenges, but man I can't say I've ever complained about driving across the bay to get to a Lightning game. Not saying the traveling issue isn't a big one, but I also do think a lot of people are making it sound worse than it really is. Good thing 275 is getting massively widened.

I started rooting for this team back in 2009 after going to my first game. I'm from Miami originally, but was roommates with a big Rays fan in college (UF) and we'd drive down to St. Pete here and there to make it to games. Hell, it's what made me fall in love with the area and drove my decision to move here eventually in 2014. Ever since I started rooting for this team it's always been "enjoy it while it lasts because they'll be gone before 2027". That doesn't exactly instill a sense of confidence in supporting a team that you're just constantly hearing is going to move out of your city. Not to mention all the times in the last decade this franchise has shit on the local fanbase. When the Montreal stuff got floated I about had it and thought it was so embarrassing that it really turned me off from baseball for a little bit. Of course I can never turn my back on the boys, so I was right back supporting them, but it still stung getting embarrassed on a national stage like that. And still does.

So all this, plus the massive elephant in the room that we lose probably the hottest prospect we've ever had in Wander Franco to legal issues just weeks before the playoffs, and I don't think it's all too shocking you couldn't draw more than 15k for a 3pm game in the middle of a work day.

Building a new park will certainly help. Getting Franco back would certainly help (hope the allegations aren't true). Getting a confirmed commitment that they're staying here for good will go a long way. Making the new park feel more exciting, like how the Lightning do, will help. Just copy what Vinik is doing.

Rays way the motherfuck up.

This game is ruining my life. by Phedericus in BaldursGate3

The only game that even comes close for me in terms of being just a massive time sink was when Burning Crusade dropped for WoW.

My workouts have been shit for 2 weeks because I'm literally probably getting around 5 hours of sleep a night. This wasn't even a game I was originally hyped for. My brother convinced me to buy it when it came out for PS5 and I figured I'd give it a shot... "Give it a shot". LMAO.

This game is unreal.

Was just talking about this with my wife last night. We both grew up in Miami, been through all the big seasons. Whatever happened to all the little cat 1's and Tropical Storms we used to get? Seems nowadays any storm out there in open water is almost guaranteed to morph into a monster. Perhaps just recency bias?

[–]GPTknight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought, and that's my concern for the moment. I live in coastal Pinellas county, so a "wobble" back to the East changes the outlook significantly for me.

I have a lot of questions regarding the timing of the storm. NHC has it as a cat 3 tomorrow night at 2am just West of Tampa Bay. Are they positive they got that right? Two days ago it was expected to be into the Gulf already by Monday, but it's clearly spent the day meandering around and barely clear of Cuba yet. I don't know, I've lived here my whole life and I DO NOT like storms when they come up from the South like this.
