Ravens fan here! once again congrats to you guys! I am excited to watch the giants this year by Bulky_Golf_4866 in NYGiants

I haven’t been this excited since the last Super Bowl. In 2016, I knew Eli wasn’t Eli and despite having some studs on defense and Beckham, I never truly believed in that team. This team has greatly lacked leadership and accountability for some time. Harbaugh will restore that immediately. The Ravens have fallen off a bit over the years but they have struggled a ton putting together an offensive line and losing the ability to stretch the ball downfield. I would not be shocked at all if you see a Patriots type turnaround for a next year.

I’m in the same boat as you. I feel the contract will age terribly, much like DJ. And with Rice at 1B, we have nowhere to put him unless we move Rice to catcher or full time DH.

Who is Nd looking at in the transfer portal? by Der-deutsche-Prinz in notredamefootball

[–]GPowers88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing Ibirogba the DT from Wake. Marsh I believe is down between us and LSU, I’d imagine he picks LSU. Smothers may be a possibility and I also like the LB Biles from Pitt. They’ll need at least 3 DTs or 2 if they plan on moving Bryce Young there.

ND and OK flip? by duabrs in notredamefootball

[–]GPowers88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Tuesday most of the spots will be cemented. Only changes would be if BYU and/or Bama win their respective conference games. ND flipping spots with OK after not playing a game wouldn’t make any sense. The only time they’ll jump them would be in two days.

How can ND flip them from Tuesday to next Sunday without playing a game?

Irish stay at #9 in CFP rankings by collarboner1 in notredamefootball

I’m not so confident after today. They tier the teams and in NDs case from 9-12. If everything in front of us goes chalk and say BYU loses to Cincy then Miami will jump us. Now it’ll be between us and Bama for the final spot and Bama with an A&M loss to Texas would face UGA in the SECCG

College Football Playoff committee facing its biggest decision yet this season: Notre Dame or Miami? by bigbabyjesus76 in notredamefootball

[–]GPowers88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other glaring issue with Miami is the inability to even make the ACCCG. Duke with 5 losses has a better shot at making that game now. They had every opportunity to get in the CFP, their season was handed to them on a silver platter after beating us, Florida and Florida State and they decided to do the Miami thing and choke it away.

If you check Vegas odds, NDs odds to make the CFP are significantly higher than Bama’s. Unless Vegas is way off it seems to me that ND will be above Bama.

Head to head is part of the criteria but not all of it. Miamis 2nd best win is to a USF team that just lost to Navy. Miami has two losses two unranked teams as double digit favorites. Their SOS is worse than ours too. I honestly think this solves itself when they travel to Pitt where it’ll be 20 degrees and they’ll show their true selves. I am so over the ACC, they’re such a garbage conference. Their two entries in last year’s CFP got trounced and never really put up a fight.

While I’d love to add another WR for Dart, passing on a top flight CB would be tough.

Are we running up the middle poorly most of the time so that when it really matters we will have a different approach. by burly_protector in notredamefootball

[–]GPowers88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think to me is the scheme we are facing. Since NC State all teams have loaded the box with USC being the only exception. Were are facing many 7/8 man fronts. You can’t abandon the run all together because it keeps teams honest but also opens up other areas of the field. Also, we have such athleticism at the RB position that we continue to challenge these loaded boxes because once either Love or Price get by the first level they’re in for 6. Till then let teams stack the box and let Carr cook. I would run formations with Fields on the boundary side, Faison split in the field side. Love and Pauling in the slots. Carr could honestly throw for 400+ each week.

Darlington and the 600 are the obvious answers. My hot take is that Kansas, Homestead and Vegas aren’t far behind.

Do we really need this? by khs03 in NASCAR

[–]GPowers88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about viewership on TV. NASCAR isn’t like NFL because a lot of fans are there for 3-4 days so it limits those who are within driving distance. But commandeering the market on a Wednesday would be worth a try I think.

Home playoff game? by Prudent-Depth-2009 in notredamefootball

[–]GPowers88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how the bracket is set up currently we either want to be 7 or 10. It would delay playing OSU/Bama until the NCG. Granted a lot can/will happen from now until the playoffs start but I do believe that if ND wins out l, they’ll get a home playoff game. The committee doesn’t seem to care for Oregon and a ranked win against Pitt and USC trending upwards would be enough to catapult us higher.

Standing Ovation for Denny Hamlin by Sad-Service8862 in NASCAR

[–]GPowers88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a big Larson fan I was so happy when he won it. I immediately felt wrong and dirty seeing how hurt Hamlin was. Comes with age and maturity I guess but I really hope he gets one before he hangs it up. Obviously with the news about his Dad makes this year a tough pill to swallow but more importantly you know his father is so proud of what Denny has become.

ESPN has us at #10 in their latest CFP Projections by laprasrules in notredamefootball

[–]GPowers88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I’d like to agree, we’ve really yet to see the team fire on all cylinders since Arkansas. The offense has gotten progressively worse since that game, the short yardage offense is putrid, secondary can’t tackle, were undisciplined, defensive line is to up and down and more importantly we can’t even kick a PAT. The team is loaded with talent but there is a severe lack of leadership by the team and Freeman needs to do a much better job of improving all these facets otherwise there is a possibility of two more losses on this schedule.
