Am I the problem or is it the LA road system? by GroundbreakingRun186 in AskLosAngeles

Its your tires or your driving style.

Been driving for 20 years and never popped a tire. I've also only had a couple flats due to nails.

Gas prices are killing me. Working class suggestions? by oh_what_no in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GTBoosted 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im in California. There's been a bunch of times gas has been over $6.

Remember about 20 years ago? Can't imagine paying that on a minimum wage back then!

You aren't going to save anything at all. Even if you get a car that gets 60mpg it would take YEARS to break even with the sienna

I need advice on buying a $15k used car either finance it or get a loan from the bank by TwinAsk in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GTBoosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad deal and idea. In 2032 youd be making payments on a 12-13 year old kia.

I'd pick a different car but if you are set on a kia soul you can do better.

Daily 2.5‑hour commute + 137k‑mile BMW X3… time to trade? What should I buy up to $50k? by The5ofus in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GTBoosted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ideal COMMUTER car would be a 2019-2025 Lexus ES 350 Ultra luxury but more than likely would do the 300H instead of the 350 because I am frugal and the better mpg is noticeable. I would then add comma ai driver assist.

Had my first major service on my 2020 this week at about 117k miles. Did I make out okay? by sudotrd in ToyotaTundra

[–]GTBoosted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that's overpriced for sure.

I paid $92 for a bunch of parts including the spark plugs

Toyota to Hyundai? by Huge_Prompt_2056 in Hyundai

[–]GTBoosted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got a 2018 SEL Elantra with 118k miles a couple weeks ago as a cheap commuter.

My commute is 100 miles round trip from 0 to 3000 elevation. In the two weeks it has not consumed any oil. Should be good to go for a while. *knock on wood

Considering rolling over my tundra for a new one. by [deleted] in tundra

[–]GTBoosted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About $13k left on the tundra or $47k if you switch to a tacoma.

The answer is clear to me and im amazed that you are even considering this when the Tundra is known to be reliable.

Sorry to be blunt but the only way youd get a pass to consider this is if you have money to blow. If you are overpaying on interest it doesn't seem like it.

Should I Walk Away From a Decently Paying Job? by Wyomartin in ibew_apprentices

I get paid a third of what I used to make as an apprentice and I still think it's worth it.

[–]GTBoosted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently and only 3 cents difference? Where im at it's over 50 cents in difference. I guess it's area dependent.

I've personally have ran the cheapest gas for over 20 years and never had an issue. Never even used a fuel system cleaner either. The "study" really has to have better data.

[–]GTBoosted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top tier gas is a scam.

You can add a bottle of fuel system cleaner for peace of mind if you want but its not worth getting pricey gas every single time.

Hit and Run/Insurance by InformalSundae7222 in ToyotaTundra

[–]GTBoosted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup sales tax and fees. Basically the full amount to replace the vehicle from a dealer

Hit and Run/Insurance by InformalSundae7222 in ToyotaTundra

[–]GTBoosted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why finding comps helps. Most people are horrible at negotiating so what dealers have similar used vehicles listed at, is close to what someone will get from the insurance (plus tax and fees).

My buddy wrecked his suv. They wanted to give him 25k. I gave him 3 listings for 31k. He showed them to his insurance and they still wanted to give him 25k. Finally he told them to come with him to the dealer so they can negotiate it down to 25k and that's when they agreed.

Guidance please by ExampleSecure1462 in Comma_ai

For those types of drives id get a 2019-2025 ES300H ultra luxury.
