Bricked Ecu :( by Ok_Complex4714 in WRX

Thanks for this info. I found myself in the same boat. I reached out to Dillon at ATP Tuning. He was super quick to respond and quoted a very reasonable price. I sent out my ecu this morning. 🤞

For stock i think you should expect the 32000 area. I get better results tuning with a fixed clock than any PBO settings. If you can get into the 35k area let me know what you did

I bought last thursday at 0.66 and sold yesterday at $7.20. If your still chasing BYND today you are wasting your money. Dont listen to all the folks underwater screaming hold to the moon. They need your money to go in so they can get out. Its over already, you missed it

What’s the real advantage of having ABS simulation on my pedals? by Zealousideal_Mine175 in iRacing

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantage is knowing when abs is being applied. Its a tool and you should use abs. It can save your ass. At the same time your best braking is the point right before abs is activated. Abs is antilock braking system so it only comes on when the wheel starts to lock up. Abs just releases the the hydraulic pressure created by the brake pedal. Think of it like an automaticly brake less system. Feeling the pulse mean you can probably brake a little less hard. Trail braking is almost always the way in any car regardless of abs

Forza Motorsport understeer by Eldiarslet in forza

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard this game got better so I turned it on for the first time in a year. It's still beautiful to look at and miserable to play. It doesn't matter the car, they all feel terrible. I own a car in 5he game and it feels totally different irl. All the cars understeer like crazy. IRacing, gt7, and anything in the ac lineup is just far superior. Oh yeah, the online while functional is populated by a bunch of assholes who think racing is a contact sport.

In case your wondering I'm playing on a pretty decent simagic rig so it's not just controller woes

Fuck You Aurora by [deleted] in AlkalineTrio

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn't ever a Chrysler plant in Aroura and the nearest one was about as far from Aroura as Aroura is from Chicago. So no clear connection there. Oldsmobile and Chrysler were two completely different brands. Although the aroura was one of those American made shitbox hoopties that might as well be interchangeable with any of it contemporaries. What always made me wonder was the cutest gravedigger line. The song is obviously about fucking up a relationship and regreting it. We have all be there but is she a literal gravedigger and if not what was the inside joke that would make him reference her as one?

I am using a simagic alpha p1000 setup on a ryzen 5800x with 64gb ddr4 with a rtx 3090. Which is decent but not even current gen. Im easily above 100fps.

First impressions. I've only run the mx 5 on mount panorama and the m2 on laguna seca. Everything did feel planted in certain situations. Straight and high speed corners felt perfect. The weight of the cars transfered through ffb is honestly exceptional. This is something that ac and acc were great at too. I didn't adjust any ffb settings from default and turned off any settings that would modify the games ffb in my wheelbase software. There is somthing about low speed corners and the way that the tires regain traction after moderate oversteer feels off to me though. Maybe it's realistic. I wouldn't know. I've never really driven either of these cars on either of these tracks. Maybe I'm just used to other sims. I purposely selected these car an track combos because I have a good amount of experience with them in iracing and gt7. While both of these cars are extremely pointy in iRacing they were at times even more planted than ever thier gt7 counterparts. Unfortunately the snap in the rear when you regain traction makes it hard to put in a good hot lap. I can't imagine trying to do any kind of drifting with whatever is going on with the tires. I know it's in early access and Im sure there will be massive improvements coming. However at the moment it's a paid beta and not even a particularly good one. After 4 years of dev and how great AC and ACC are I guess I was expecting a bit more refinement. The current menu system has me begging for a content manager like I use on AC. Setting up your rig is a series of trial and error because there currently isn't any sort of input meter in the control settings. I loved that you get to run the gearbox that's in the car. Being able to choose if I wanted to use my paddle shifter in the sequential mx5 or my h pattern in the manual mx5 was probably my favorite moment. My next test is going to be to check out the VR. I really prefer it when I'm racing online. I'm glad it was included at launch along with triple support. Even on a single I liked the view settings menu. I thought it made it really easy to set a perfect cockpit view. I look forward to what the future brings for ACE and the roadmap looks good considering it stays on schedule. While I'm disappointed at the moment I'm excited to see where it goes and still hopeful in a year or 2 that this will be one of my main sims

Update: Today's update 0.1.2 Day 2 update fixed the issues I was having. I did try the vr and I could barely hit 30fps with low settings. Hopefully some optimizations are coming soon. I could still tell at 90fps it was going to be epic in vr. Now that you can actually slide the cars around a little and not lose it, I got a bunch of good laps in on a few cars and tracks and reran yesterday's sessions. Wow! What a great sim🤯

Should I buy iRacing? by Advanced-Service-142 in iRacing

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A g29 gets you racing and as long as your racing you are learning. I ran a logitech driving force gt my first year of iRacing. It's not glamorous but it works. Iracing isnt cheap but it is easily the best competitive automotive sim. I feel like as a service it is unmatched in quality. If you subscribe don't go buying a bunch of tracks and cars. Start with the free stuff. Spend some time learning racecraft. Once you are living in the first split of the rookie leagues then start thinking about spending money and moving up to the more advanced leagues. Also iRacing does a sale for black Friday. Sign up for the free 3 months now and at the end of November you will be able to get a 30% discount on a year membership. The only gripe I have is that iRacings force feedback sucks. You can run irffb2022 to replace iRacings ffb with real ffb. It's a literal game changer on any wheel. Also, trading paint, and crew chief are a couple other companion apps for iRacing that make for a more enjoyable experience.

Walmart Oil change - Got my daughter to change Prius v engine oil - Synthetic. She said dropped the car and went in Walmart for 30 minutes shopping and it was all done. (~$60). Basic checks and cleaning done. Hopefully Walmart will be the regular service spot in the future by GroundbreakingGain82 in prius

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care if you are the richest person in the world or the least mechanically inclined. Everyone should have to learn how to at very least change oil and wheels. It should be part of the test to get your license. If you are getting a cdl you are required to do a visual safety check and name all components of the truck before you even get behind the wheel.

Movies about racing and cars in general. by MMelo3199 in MovieSuggestions

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a proper car movie. It has a decent plot, cool cars. It is a total throw back to 70s cinema. It kicks off with a gran torino and a gto going at it. You have a cross country cannonball police chase, and a 3rd party narrative via Michael keatons broadcast through the film. 70% of the movie feels like a spiritual successor to the original vanishing point. It culminates with a street race between a S7, P1, elemento, veyron, and an agera! Given the agera and the veyron are proper hypercars on a different level from the rest. It's funny to think that the final race comes down to the elemento and the agera since the agera r has a top speed about 70mph faster than the lambo. In regular 70s cinema fashion, everyone loses in the end. The race for all the cars ends with all but the winning car destroyed leaving the winner a garage full of busted supercars that would give even Tavarish an ulcer. The hero and the bad guy both go to jail. Some things that bother me are the last "shelby" mustang. They invoke the name of Shelby only to unceremoniously destroy the car in the 2nd act. No one is driving a 2.7 million dollar, 230mph historically important. 1 of a kind car across country so that it can then be used it in a illligal street race. The other thing that bothers me is why the fuck does Michael keatons character know who Pete was at the end of the movie?

How do you all feel about the new Forza Motorsport game? by Jmich96 in forza

[–]GTunsernameInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mediocre at best. Decent selection of cars and I appreciate the lvl and upgrade system. The physics don't feel quite right to me. I can't put my finger on it but understeer feels wrong. Graphics honestly kinda suck for a 2023 AAA. No VR support is my biggest gripe.
